this may be a dumb question, but has anybody else thought about the decline in air travel coinciding with the rise in fuel prices for those of us who refuse to fly, and drive instead? with companies being able to hold virtual meetings nowadays, business travel is down, and recreational travelers choosing alternate ways to travel, the airlines hafta be hurting, reducing the numbers of flights and packing their fewer routes to the max with passengers, some of whom are using airlines rewards so not paying for tickets..."too big to fail" has/will come into play, and the fed has/will prop them up again...in my opinion, the airlines have caught themselves owing to their benefactor, so must dance to the tune being played...
In the past few months my husband and I have driven to and from Florida twice. About an 1100 mile drive each way. Used to fly, but we won't mask up, and the drive wasn't bad.
I do think that a lot/all of what is being done now is an attempt to finalize the Prison Planet. To reduce/eliminate your ability to travel, and especially to travel long distance/internationally.
You can live a middling/decent life on Cell Block 9. But don't get uppity and think you can leave Cell Block 9.
Also no more paying for crappy food at food courts or on planes, no more paying for bottled water and drinks-you can bring your own, no more stressing out on finding overhead storage for carry on baggage, no more squishing into seats without legroom only to have to listen to snoring, or high volume music pouring out of earphones. No more having your seat kicked incessantly by obnoxious children because dimwit parents can’t teach their children respect. No more fist fights on discount airlines from people who think they are jungle animals with no respect for others. No more dealing with stewards and stewardesses who get off on power-AKA mask Nazis. No more dealing with TSA baggage checks, shoe removal, carry on bag searches, long lines. No more dealing with postage stamp, smelly bathrooms. Win Win!
Why would you want to fly with vaccinated pilots/copilots who could have a heart attack or stroke at any time?
Maybe one day someone will start an airline where: all seats are comfortable like first class, where meals or snacks are served that taste decently and are not optional on the airlines’ part, where it is an expectation that everyone dress in business casual instead of looking like whores and homeless people, where there is an expectation that passengers act with manners towards fellow passengers. Then maybe the airlines will get lost customers back. I would rather drive and take longer than deal with the obnoxious aspects of airline travel.
Most things improve and continually get better as society and technology advances, except airline travel. The ONLY thing that’s changed for the better with flying is the inability to smoke. Other than that, airline travel continues to get worse as time goes on.
Travel used to be more comfortable in the 80s and the like but it was extremely expensive. The maximization of space to fit more people is what brings the prices down.
I'm old enough to remember when flying was a pleasure as you describe. People dressed up to fly, the food was decent, there was more room in the cabin, stewies were beautiful/handsome and sweet, no TSA, you could go out to the gates to see your family, etc.
I'm old enough to remember when stewardesses were seen as hot chicks in popular culture. By time I was an adult they were already a bunch of used up Karen's. Now that bit of power is all they have in their lives, I guess.
That's what happens to them after "hitting the wall". When they can no longer use their looks to get whatever they want, they resort to nazi style Karenism.
They thought they would fill those jobs from the massive pool of unemployed but vaccinated pilots? Illegal aliens who just happened to be trained jetliner pilots? Stay at home moms who are feeling the pinch from all this inflation and are looking for a little part time job for when the kids are in school?
Real question - if the people running these airlines are this stupid, why would anyone put the life in their hands by flying on their planes?
My asleep wife flew yesterday. Her flight was delayed because of the lack of a pilot. I wish the 30 minute delay would be a canceled flight. Anything to wake her up. I’ve been awake for two years. It’s painful.
I feel your pain. While my husband has right wing views, believes in the constitution, Bill of rights, and small government, he is painfully asleep to most of the world around us.
Well, I think the elite's plans were that everybody gets vaccinated except for fringe extremists. So the airlines assumed that they weren't going to have to pay a price for enforcing their rule.
Instead, Americans decided that weren't going to go along. Less than 30% of American residents have gotten their booster, and it isn't rising any more.
Lord Jesus,
Bring good gainful employment to those who STOOD their ground against this and EVERY LIKE EVIL and put their own jobs on the line and lost them for doing what was right.
By with and BLESS them.
In your Awesome, Almighty and All Powerful name,
Amen
I am waiting for hospitals to beg for their unvaccinated employees to come back. But instead they will probably be allowed to import foreign nurses who can barely speak English and there is no legal control over their care to patients.
The WEF want to stop you flying. They don't care how they do it. If you can't fly because there are insufficient pilots then that's a win as far as WEF is concerned. If you can't fly because you can no longer afford the high jet fuel prices then that is a win too. Don't encourage them.
They’ve seem to increase to me but I flew during the lockdowns. Tickets were absurdly cheap. One time it was me and two other passengers on a big plane.
Yes. They want us ALL to stop flying. The elites all have private planes. They aren't affected by this. They wanted all the pilots & crews vaxxed so that the crews aren't fit to fly and then the rest of us are grounded, too.
Not as many pilots took the jab as one has been led to believe. Family members who are 25+ year commercial pilots say that maybe 25% of the co-pilots took at least 1 jab.
Oh, I'm so glad to see they are going to focus on diversity hires for half of the pilots they hire. Well how well did that diversity hire work out for victims of child porn who showed up in jumanji brown's court!
"We are seeking to train 5,000 pilots by the end of the decade, with the goal that half of the students will be women and people of color, all while maintaining our incredibly high training standards,"
Great! Just what we need: a bunch of diversity hires piloting regional jets. What could go wrong?
Retired US Commercial Pilot here. They have been doing this my whole career with people of color. United was a prime example with the EEOC and Emery Riddle wonder Pilots they hired that had NO experience! It has also bitten them in the Ass with much higher training costs and these folks not being able to upgrade without tons more training etc. I am white and have been reverse discriminated against my whole life with people of color getting the job way before me and way under-qualified.
That’s not just happening in the airline industry, either. The caliber of new hires being brought in is scary. Some of the fuckers may not be able to tie their own shoes.
There is also the fact that becoming a pilot is expensive as hell and no one has any fucking money any more. And no, don't give me bullshit about 1000 dollar iPhones and avacado toast.
I got my private pilot license in 1984 for roughly $2200 (~$6000 in today's money). Retired jet pilot now. That $2200 was one of the best investments of my life.
Cessna Citation models. 560 and 525 types. I'm single pilot rated in the 525's.
Tried to join the Air Force when I graduated high school. Medically disqualified for flight duty. So I went the civilian route and paid for my flight training.
99% of the pilots I've known, and 100% of the pilots I worked with were non-military. I'm not special in that regard.
It's very difficult to be selected for military flight school, and some proportion of those selected wash out. Much respect to those who made it through.
Definitely one of the more interesting guests Jocko had on when I was still a regular listener of his. The pilot would talk about how there isn't a body type with an advantage in the cockpit. Short stocky guys and tall lanky dudes could have the same trouble handling g forces etc.
I live north of Houston in a very rural area. My husband and I routinely sit in the hot tub and look at the stars and airplane lights at night. There used to be 30 or more planes in a 30 to 45 minute time period. Now, we see 5.
Important to remember the industry is moving with full force towards autonomous flight. Decimating and grounding the workforce through vaccination helps achieve this goal.
as Trump says... woke companies turn to shit!! ..... every passenger that boards a plan had better request the carriers have pilots that qualify as PILOTS.... not qualified colors/sexual identities or woke preference-of-the-week!
I talked with one of the 2000 pilots in the lawsuit, they indicated it’s a bait and switch story. United using the pilot shortage story to get rid of unprofitable routes, a better narrative for United than to axe the routes after so much COVID money.
"We are seeking to train 5,000 pilots by the end of the decade, with the goal that half of the students will be women and people of color, all while maintaining our incredibly high training standards," Kirby told the hearing.
Kirby added that financing for flight training poses a problem because pilots first have to spend $150,000 to qualify for the necessary certificate.
According to this article, they are going to fix everything by training more pilots "with a goal that 50% will be women and POC, while maintaining their high standards." This practical experience experiment ought to quickly show the world that there is plenty of talent that white males have been suppressing. Or something.

If the Vax doesn't kill 'em, wokeism will.
In some cases where they have sought to increase women and minority hires, along with academic admissions and graduation requirements, they have had to lower their standards in order to reach their quotas. This reduction of standards is ongoing.
Some recent examples:
An all women engineering company had a pedestrian overpass collapse onto the freeway and killed some people.
In South Africa, they found the black med students had trouble passing their final exams, so they just made the tests easier.
In Oregon, they decided students no longer have to prove they can handle the 3 R's in order to graduate high school, to make it easier for minority students.
In the UK a female OBGYN with a medical license from India or Pakistan pulled so hard on a baby she was trying to deliver, that she ripped the infant's head off its shoulders. After a review, UK medical authorities decided she had done no wrong and she was allowed to continue practicing medicine.
Female police academy candidates cannot pass the men's physical training, so they adjusted it for the women.
An immigrant from Somalia was hired as a police officer in the US. A woman from Australia had called 911 due to a disturbance she had heard in her neighborhood. When she approached the squad car that arrived at her house, the Somalian in the passenger seat reached over his partner and shot and killed the woman.
IQ matters, emotional intelligence matters, physical ability matters, talent matters, trained skill matters, maturity matters, experience matters, and sometimes even cultural background matters. There are areas in life where questions of gender, sexual preferences or skin color shouldn't be part of the equation, only competence where it really counts.
I would give the Vax mandating airline CEOs a big fail for intelligence and competence.
You go woke, you go broke. But the airlines most like.y were given financial incentives or were blackmailed regarding loss of license if they didn’t mandate the shots. In the long run, who owns the airlines? Blackrock, Vanguard, State Street=Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Payseurs, Schiff, and other scum at the apex of power?
They promise diversity in new hires. The Board of Directors and Executive Officers are already 100% Retards. Now if they hire some Tranny Pilots only 50% of those will attempt or commit suicide according to statistics so you will have a 50/50 chance of surviving an airline flight.
"We are seeking to train 5,000 pilots by the end of the decade, with the goal that half of the students will be women and people of color, all while maintaining our incredibly high training standards," Kirby told the hearing. (American Airlines)
And there it is. Equality of opportunity vs Equality of outcome
Yup, and I drove cross country 2x in 6 months. Nice leisurely drives. Used to fly, but until they fix their stupidity I won't.
U fucked yourselves
this may be a dumb question, but has anybody else thought about the decline in air travel coinciding with the rise in fuel prices for those of us who refuse to fly, and drive instead? with companies being able to hold virtual meetings nowadays, business travel is down, and recreational travelers choosing alternate ways to travel, the airlines hafta be hurting, reducing the numbers of flights and packing their fewer routes to the max with passengers, some of whom are using airlines rewards so not paying for tickets..."too big to fail" has/will come into play, and the fed has/will prop them up again...in my opinion, the airlines have caught themselves owing to their benefactor, so must dance to the tune being played...
In the past few months my husband and I have driven to and from Florida twice. About an 1100 mile drive each way. Used to fly, but we won't mask up, and the drive wasn't bad.
Ditto that
Also, if you DO fly, I think it's important when you have 2 pilots, ONE of them is not vaxxed.
If the vaxxed pilot has a heart attack or stroke while flying, the unvaxxed pilot can still take over.
Same here.
I've taken three 1,100 mile, each way, drives in the last year.
People aren't up against work weeks or work hours like in the past.
I think I'll take up horseback riding.
sounds good, but be prepared for higher prices on "horse quality hay" due to rising costs of fuel, fertilizer and seed...
Airlines are having trouble getting pilots, plus there are no rental cars available. You may as well drive.
Win Win!

I so wish an airline like this existed.
It does lol. Y'all just too broke to know about them.
I don’t like or agree w/ any of it, but the “rebel” in me dislikes the stewardesses most of all. Bunch of nobodies on a power trip. 🙄
Good choice. I drive to Denver instead of fly, because I can't stand their satanic airport. It's a pleasant car trip.
It's not stupidity, same people own the airlines that own the media. They own everything v
I've been staying away from flying for that very reason.
Don't want to be on a flight where the jabbed pilot strokes out or has a heart attack.
The other reasons -- masking, shedding, etc. -- are secondary.
Important, but secondary.
Right
My asleep wife flew yesterday. Her flight was delayed because of the lack of a pilot. I wish the 30 minute delay would be a canceled flight. Anything to wake her up. I’ve been awake for two years. It’s painful.
Same fam.
In same boat with my husband and son
I feel your pain. While my husband has right wing views, believes in the constitution, Bill of rights, and small government, he is painfully asleep to most of the world around us.
There are a lot of people like that -- the people who still watch Fox. They got part of the way but not all. It's way better than woke, though.
Oh, for sure!
The best part of that number is I'm willing to bet it's just as inflated as all of the other numbers that get reported in the MSM.
Lord Jesus, Bring good gainful employment to those who STOOD their ground against this and EVERY LIKE EVIL and put their own jobs on the line and lost them for doing what was right. By with and BLESS them. In your Awesome, Almighty and All Powerful name, Amen

Airline tickets have gotten much lower though the last time I checked. Did that change?
I checked Southwest and last week they were advertising their $59 fares on their website. Given the cost of fuel, that was interesting.
I noticed that too.
They’ve seem to increase to me but I flew during the lockdowns. Tickets were absurdly cheap. One time it was me and two other passengers on a big plane.
Seems to me there is not one, single, united evil group.
There are many associated groups that generally move in the same direction.
But sometimes, they break off.
The WEF may want us to stop flying but people running the airlines might not want to be jobless.
Yes. They want us ALL to stop flying. The elites all have private planes. They aren't affected by this. They wanted all the pilots & crews vaxxed so that the crews aren't fit to fly and then the rest of us are grounded, too.
Again: It's not stupidity. It's DELIBERATE.
Pilots that are flying - "Name Your Price"!!! Boomerang time.
They can start their own airlines.
Trump Airlines
We won’t fly again.
Yup. Knowing your vaxed crew could drop dead at any time in flight, while taking off and landing, is not something I want to be a passenger on.
Exactly, I’m not supporting any company that demanded people get vaxxed hope they all go broke.
Not as many pilots took the jab as one has been led to believe. Family members who are 25+ year commercial pilots say that maybe 25% of the co-pilots took at least 1 jab.
“I see dead people, they are everywhere”
Oh, I'm so glad to see they are going to focus on diversity hires for half of the pilots they hire. Well how well did that diversity hire work out for victims of child porn who showed up in jumanji brown's court!

Congratulations on your retirement. This will be my sixth year on the ground. I look up a lot, but don't regret it.
What idiots. Basically saying they are prioritizing color over actually being able to do the job efficiently.... get fucked.
That’s not just happening in the airline industry, either. The caliber of new hires being brought in is scary. Some of the fuckers may not be able to tie their own shoes.
They also lowered requirements for Blacks and Hispanics to get into Med School.
Asians meanwhile....
There is also the fact that becoming a pilot is expensive as hell and no one has any fucking money any more. And no, don't give me bullshit about 1000 dollar iPhones and avacado toast.

The article says $150,000 and United doesn’t sound like they are paying.
lol
They must think their diversity hires have that kind of money laying around.
From December. I would love to see a current story saying that.
I live north of Houston in a very rural area. My husband and I routinely sit in the hot tub and look at the stars and airplane lights at night. There used to be 30 or more planes in a 30 to 45 minute time period. Now, we see 5.

Interesting! There was a Warren buffet story where he said he could kill a city by ending flights to it. Can’t find it right now 🤔

Plenty of Aloha Snackbars coming across the southern border to take their places.
They were all warned.
YW! My husband and I are also steadfastly un-poisoned. Threats (and action) of job loss, are things that we just deal with. God is on our side.
That’s what I like to read. Actions have consequences. I hope it’s hitting them hard in the pocketbook.

You wouldn’t know it around here. There’s almost constant commercial air traffic over us.
It's OK. All the flights that families are going to cancel to Disneyland and Disney World should free up staff!
This works perfectly if you're looking to reduce//eliminate travel.
And I want to become a pilot but I don't want to get jabbed.
The fact that they couldn’t envision that happening is concerning to say the least. I wouldn’t care if they went out of business.
