I don't believe there should be a stock market. The whole thing is a scam. The "people" that should "own" a company should be whoever created it, and then whoever is brought on as a partner/is given the company upon the previous owner's resignation or death.

When you buy shares, you’re giving money to a company under the assumption they can do something with it. As the company grows, that value grows. So you sell your share for profit.
