What is this thread all about?
Just a place for general discussion. A place to unload whats on your mind and talk about anything - personal, health, help needed, achievements, daily highs and daily lows, theories, predictions and what have you.
Does not need to be Q related.
Starting vocal lessons again today. Took some a couple of years ago and was making progress, but things got in the way soon after and I stopped altogether. I want to sharpen my creative side a bit more, lord knows my analytical/logical side has been on overdrive, and being able to jam out and have fun is climbing up on my list of priorities. I do miss me some karaoke that sounds and feels decent :P
Also want to start doing some boxing / kickboxing training again. I stopped that a while ago as well and it's important to keep in shape and be able to kick some ass.
Object in motion stays in motion, static object is hard to move. I hope each of you has a ball they're rolling or looking to start rolling. If you don't, start pushing! It's easy to get caught up in incessant research, rabbit holes, doom, etc. But don't forget to do things for yourself, too.
Lift some stuff, start building some furniture, drawing, painting, carving, or fiddling away at that guitar you bought but never got around to anything more than a few open chords.
You can go on takelessons.com to get some ideas on something to learn and then either find a teacher there, or just scour the internet for some tutorials and self teach if that's more your style.
I've gotten to interact with a lot of you on here over time, we're on this journey together. I would love to see some of the creative side of people here, if you do play an instrument, I'd love to hear a jam or a piece you've been working on. If you draw or paint, I'd love to check out some of your work. If it's anything like the memes on here, it's worth checking out 😆
Find yourself a nice classical choir, it really helps making progress whilst not being too frustrated with your own voice as the eventual fluctuations will be absorbed by the overall sound.
That's some solid advice. I'll have to keep that in mind, I'd imagine that it's difficult to find something like that. Do you have any background in singing?
Yes, first in punk rock bands, then in solo projects, then in a Church choir followed by a semi pro project choir, now just alone with a piano or a guitar.
Singing in groups is also really good for the peace of mind.
The highlight of my « career » was being bass in the « Piccolo Coro » of a « Carmina Burana » ensemble
It's crazy how appreciation for musical style evolves with you, isn't it? Lately I'm big into grunge, and Chris Cornell (RIP, you angel) being the inspiration to pull me out of my lol and feeling inspired again. I'll look into joining a choir, it can be that nudge to get me into going to church again :)
I'm a Christian by faith, but raised a Catholic and jaded with churches in general for the better part of 10 years.
When you realize that the problem with organized religion lies within « organized »… it’s better not to have someone dictate how you should feel.
Catechism should keep its goals to teaching that « the man is able to reach God » which basically defines Faith and « Love each other as I love you all » which is the best basis to define Good vs Bad. I like Shintoism as it goes with spirits instead of a single deity: spirit of the forest, of friendship, of rice, of music… By granting such a spirit (or a Godly Touch) to every little nice thing (abstract, material…), you notice them differently and increase your peace of mind.
Musically speaking, I began by both the Beatles, my sister’s 70s rock albums and a few Top50 songs in my early teen years, then I went to hard rock (Iron Maiden, Slayer -from Reign in Blood onwards-, Manowar, Metallica’s -first 3 albums-), then a friend introduced me to Zappa and Magma, then I noticed I liked solo Cello works (especially Zoltan Kodaly or the Britten/Shostakovitch works…). Now I am into classical piano (Liszt played by Cziffra, or Bach by Glenn Gould), in parallel with Symphonic progressive metal (Dream Theater, Nightwish, Sabaton) and also oddities such as Tuuletar (👉🏻 https://youtu.be/qz_uq7ypZnc ) or Ichika Nito on Youtube…
Music is a beautiful kaleidoscopic journey with no end.
This thread really brightened my morning. Cheers.
So cool to see a little thread about music! It has such a huge influence on so many, and can be like therapy, getting us through hard times. I'm lucky to be at a point where me and my wife play music together for 4-5 hours a day, and have a sweet gig on Fridays and Saturdays.
Haha yeah I like this idea of a casual thread to just talk about anything.
I started learning to play trumpet a few years ago; incredibly hard instrument! I've reached a point where I need to take lessons because I don't know if my practices are as effective as they should be. I also have been trying to do some weight workouts (light weights along with pushups and chin-ups). I've always had a goal of being able to do 15 chin-ups in a row. About 20 years ago I got up to 12. It then dropped down to 4 or 5 and I got up to 9 before I got covid in November. I'm now back to 10 and hope I can get to 15 by the end of the year. I hit 65 this year, so I guess I'm better than average for my age :)
Hell yeah! It's tough looking at a past version of yourself that had more success. When I was in peak physical shape, I had no problem busting 20 pull ups. I remember my brother and parking in the local park during festivals, getting toasty, and challenging each other to do all sorts of feats of strength like we were out of a chapter of Homer's The Odyssey.
With age comes the superpower of lower metabolism and ease of growing a gut xD. I also, poor eating habits and N inclination towards the drink (which takes a lot of to get me going) certainly haven't helped!
But progress is being made on my end, too. As it's easier to gain back muscle/strength, than it is to gain it off the bat.
You're killing it out there, PhD. You may be double my age, but you also seem to have double the willpower and wisdom. I'm going to humblebrag about you to my dad who while he is in good shape, told me that once 50 hits you take a huge drop-off, and how it's impossible to even hang on with your bodyweight.
I know it's BS because when we go kayaking, he is able to go fast and keep the same pace for 2 hours easily while my endurance is trash in comparison.
Proud of you and pulling for you, Anon. I'll think of you when I want to crap out early in a set next time and the laziness starts to set in. Maybe when you're reaching 10 chin ups and feel the burn, imagine a drunk anon WOOing obnoxiously in the distance 😆
Thanks for your encouragement :) I tell people the only difference between being old and young is, when old, you can do everything you could do when you were young, but you will do it slower, and you will be sore afterwards :) (and you may injure yourself doing it, and instead of getting over the injury in a few days, it will take a few weeks or longer :) ) I remember when I was in my 40's, I thought about how almost all the pro athletes were under 30, except golfers. And when I was in my 50's, only coaches were as old as me (and "senior PGA members"). Now, in my 60's, there's barely even coaches my age, and the only athlete my age still competing with those much younger is the pro golfer Bernard Langer :) I now have arthritis in my right hip, so it just hurts too much to run, so I bought a mountain bike last year and have been trying to do that a few times a week now (just on roads and paved trails; no crazy mountain trails for me)
I have always loved to sing and have had a pretty decent voice. Vocal lessons would be fun! Good luck with it!
Thanks! You can find some good deals online, you may have to sift through some teachers or resumes but it's not out of reach for many and there are many talented people waiting to teach!
I just started with this lady, the site has a promotion on many accounts for 3 30 minute lessons for a total of $30 so you can cover some basics and work towards it. The rates are normally significantly higher but at that price it's easy to dip your toes and see if it's something you want to pursue or get feedback on and take what you learned into your repertoire.
I would love to develop my ear and harmonize. Maybe when I get extra cash I can do it.
Hey, I had to search my inbox for this comment. I got a call from someone on this platform that I had signed up for to find local lessons and got quite a few responses but they all wanted $70 per lesson.
The call came a couple of weeks later. Up until then, I'd just get emails from trainers. The lady was nice and said that she's from further away from my area but can do online and the first lesson on the platform is free.
In that one lesson she did some exercises I struggled with, got a feel for my range and my comfort zone, gave me useful tips that helped make things click.
She knows her stuff. First lesson is free, then she charges $25 per half hour, which is the best rate I've seen thus far on any site and she's knowledgeable.
Why don't you give it a shot at least for the free lesson?
The platform is musika:
https://www.musikalessons.com/
If you'd like I could link you up with the lady directly, or find someone in your area. I didnt even know there was a free lesson. It's a "love your trial or it's free" promotion but she just lead with "I'll give you your first lesson free and if you like it, you can book me through the platform, or I can just tell them you didn't think it was for you and the next lesson we'll do on our own and I'll give you a better rate.
I'm assuming you're in the states so you may find someone on there or I can text/call her and set you guys up. It appears that the expectation is that if you don't love it you don't pay and some instructors may be snobby about it, but this woman appeared in my life like a gift from God, haha. I already set up another lesson with her for next week, she didn't charge me a cent.
For some reason I recall you saying you were from Brazil but it could be another user I'm confusing you with.
Thank you so much! I may take you up in that eventually. There's no way my son would stay out of a room I'd be trying to sing in. He'd probably make fun of me. ;)
I'm not from Brazil. Oklahoma native but living in the deep south. :)
Any time! And a half hour for a kid when he knows his parent is singing can be eternal, haha. If or when you're ready just shoot me a PM or reply here and I'll talk to the lady for you. She's a sweet little older Opera singer with a hell of a voice.
My first trainer was so cute I felt like a jackass trying to sing (and messing up) but she was really sweet. I still have 2 more lessons set up with her. The old lady doesn't have that guilt factor 😅
Hahahaha!! I do miss singing a lot. I used to be in my church's choir and then I started a new church. I enjoy Wednesday night Bible study and don't get to attend practice if I wanted to. I need to do it for the right reason, not just because I like to sing. It took me awhile I figure it out.
As an artist, I am currently working on this. Also on homesteading (beginning anyway)
Kudos on the vocal lessons. I make music (I "rap", but that genre has became so filtered and dumbed down...I don't even like lumping myself in what that word has became) and always wanted to train my voice but never actually took the time to do it. Self-discipline can be life changing if you actually utilize it.
It sure can, and makes it fun to bust jump behind the mic at a party or a bar and just have fun. It's a built in instrument you carry with you and can play at any time. I respect the art of rapping. Timing, flow, word play, and getting across a message with words in a way that is like a verbal painting.
I like Dax a lot, not so much when he does the auto tune parts in some songs, but the man is a lyricist. If you don't listen to him, he showcases his ability to change up tempos and styles in his song "Rap God" where you'll pick up on a new clever line every time you listen to it, but he has a lot of great other songs, too.
Fun fact Dax is my newest favorite. (Before him my goto was Jelly Roll) I was in the hospital because of pancreatitis the week before Easter and heard Dear Alcohol. Listened to that song so many times since then...
I actually was released the day before and showed my Aunt the Dear God music video on Easter.
I'm really getting into making more things from scratch - like home made. I have already made sausage- I make ice cream, am learning to make pasta, I want to get into making bread too. I make waffles - to take the place of Eggos. I am now researching how to make homemade dog food. I am going to make my own vanilla extract (Vanilla beans and alcohol) I always thought things were more complicated to make etc. but it's really not. It is also much better for you when you don't have all the preservatives etc. added. I am ready to try to make my own butter too. We shall see.
I also have a small raised garden going. I have tomatoes, peppers, cukes, green beans and this year I am trying something new. I got growing bags online. I am trying to grow potatoes and also on onions. I'm excited to see how that will turn out.
Sounds like a well formulated plan coming together.
This is the easiest bread recipe I've ever used, and versatile as well.
https://www.motherearthnews.com/real-food/five-minutes-a-day-for-fresh-baked-bread-zmaz08djzgoe/?fbclid=IwAR1HwG4RsBU9Uu6Sc2SBayUjpkFuXLkDCjCSDtckzl3PcW2lZorgYCvDscE
Butter's a breeze, it should lead you to yogurt and soft cheese, then you can venture into hard cheeses.
Medicine Tinctures are basically the same thing you're doing with your vanilla bean. Something you should look into. Heal thyself is the battle cry of the survivor.
Sounds like you're having fun. God bless.
I’ve been putting off my new business since January. Had something for about six months till I took 4 days of Ivermectin and my mojo is back. I asked God for help in getting it going. He responded by breaking my work computer. Two days while I waited for the repair call (and getting paid) I worked on the business samples. I should be able to launch the business on Monday!!!!!!
Woot woot
Awesome! Good luck. Need any automation help, let me know.
Thank you!
GOD IS GOOD!!!! ALL THE FREAKIN' TIME!!!
That may have been the opportunity you needed! Sometimes we all need a nudge :)
that sounds like a great plan, love to camp. and actually fun to just daydream about camping; the gear, tents, etc. reminds me of being a kid.
Nothing like fishing in a mountain stream (with tennis shoes) & letting that cold water flow around your ankles.. Enjoy your time away
Great idea. Enjoy!
My media server and work box went tits up yesterday and I don't have time to fix them. It's was frustrating at first, and ultimately will have to be fixed to Get Work Done, but right now I'm enjoying the silence, as is the family.
In a way I prayed for this very scenario. 😁
When I was a kid, I remember I prayed really strongly to get sick so I wouldn't have to go to school the next day, and sure enough I got sick the next morning and got to miss school...but realized it would have been better to just go to school and not have to deal with being sick.
I like to think the lord taught me a lesson that day.
Please join me in this prayer;
Dear Lord Jesus, I plead your hand of protection, conviction, guidance, direction, courage and boldness to STAND and prompting for every supreme court justice and all other judges and law enforcement who chooses to do right and uphold law, place an army of angels to protect them and their familys and provide true justice and upon those who decide to do evil, convict their hearts and cause them to make the right decision even if against their own will, when they refuse to do what is right, curse them. Please bring back JUSTICE and good upright laws being upheld. Bring morals and godliness and hearts turned to you and repentant of sin back to our country and our people O Lord. In your Awesome, Almighty & All Powerful name, Amen
I asked my ortho if my insurance would cover a leg brace so I can put off my total knee replacement, and after about 3 weeks of waiting, I got a call saying it does. Yay! I hope I can be disciplined enough to wear it as I need to. I also got a custom made mouthguard for my TMJ as I grind my teeth in my sleep and get stressed out.
I'm falling apart, but God is putting me back together. ;)
I did exactly this. I have good and bad weeks. I wear it about half the time, all the time when it flairs up. I figure if nothing else, it will prevent a tear when it gives out.
I'm hoping to get my money's worth out of it at least.
If it’s anything like mine, you will.
I just spoke with a chiropractor in my town yesterday. He has been doing stem cell injections (from umbilical chords from healthy births). The injections are not cheap. $5000 each (of course insurance won’t cover it. No money there for big pharma) but he says where back surgery has about a 40% success rate this has about 80%. I personally know someone whose parent in their late 70s maybe early 80s had it a few weeks ago and the improvement is stunning. He treats backs, hips, knees, shoulders etc with this. Side note. He also does an oxygenated blood treatment that has amazing results on a lot of different autoimmune diseases and made a dramatic difference for a patient who was legally blind after a histoplasmosis infection. These are $150 each and a course I’d usually about 10 treatments.
Acupuncture wouldn't hurt. It is the most relaxing thing I've felt in a long time, and those tense areas that sometimes worsen conditions melt away.
My acupuncture guy was a physiotherapist before he saw the value of acupuncture when someone did it on him to help with his shoulder.
Good luck with that. I know exactly what it's like. I've read your other post(s) on the topic and feel your pain. o7
Thank you! It's not fun, especially to have a misstep and wrench the blasted thing.

Condor's 1st link (judiciary hearing) mentions "whether it be neo-nazis or antifa" pretty quickly after the time stamp.
I'll be honest: I absolutely dont have time today for this, but Condor is usually pretty adroit w the time stamps, and as these words came right out of the gate I assumed that's what he was pointing towards.
Devolution.
Of course, I could always be wrong.
I did catch the mention of antifa at the time stamp, but if you watched the rest of that expert's testimony, he rarely mentioned them again. The two main guys focused on the "white supremacy" shtick for the majority of their talk

I am the domestic terrorist they are referring to! Lol
That's his admission! Book'em Danno! 😂
If you want to start on religions be sure to include the Christian religion and it's hundreds of offshoots..perhaps when people stop worshipping aliens and copying all their violence to each other and everyone else we might learn how to live together peaceably.
Whence did Jesus Christ command His followers (Christians) to conduct any unjust wars of aggression?
I'll wait...
There is no record kept anywhere of anything at all that Jesus said. That is a fact no one can dispute..religions accept this truth...
..but...if there was a Jesus and as the Bible says the only begotten son of yahweh the war commander of the elohim..aka fallen angels/annanuki he was a hybrid alien..one of them.. Yahweh had made a covenant with the tribe of Jacob that kept the record...aka the old testament....and he was a war commander who used the ark of the covenant ..an electromagnetic device to wipe out millions in 60 cities..Sumeria Sodom and Gomorrah etc etc.
Jesus is in any case quoted as saying my mission is to save the lost tribe of Israel... Nothing else..he was a Jew..and a religion has been made killing millions ever since and likely to continue among all the patriarchal religions founded on these aliens until disclosure happens. Apparently quite soon. So much evidence now that it was aliens not fallen angels..not God or gods.a gigantic con. The Vatican owns about a sixth of the world and vast treasures and gold.
Yikes. Man these guys got you bad... which is a really sad irony, given your claims that so many others have been conned. Time to get right with Jesus fren. It's going to be biblical, and this end isn't for everyone...
You might want to watch Erich Von daniken official yt channel where he says the name of the technical ops guy he spoke to at a NASA meeting some years ago who then read ezekiel and then NASA copied the description of the space shuttle and PATENTED IT
Q. Follow the evidence..follow the money
Sorry fren, but "aliens" is the actual con that's being used to deceive and brainwash. But by all means, if you want to place all of your chips on that bet a la Pascal's Wager, that's your choice and best of luck.
No. Read the bible..that's where the evidence is and all the books they left out trying to hide the con.
Even the patriarch of the Coptic orthodox Christian religion says and I quote we have the ark of the covenant and there is something in it that is not of this world.
So don't project your man you got it bad on me..you have been thoroughly brainwashed. And as A said the end won't be for everyone..some will stay brainwashed
Have you? Read the Bible i mean. I'm not here to cut you down or anything like that, but as someone who uses this book as a pattern for literally everything, it seems to me like you haven't.
Respect to you for being here and searching for more than what you see on the surface. So many are happy to ignore the truth. Keep searching!
Hmmm… the plot thickens. I posted yesterday a new terror threat issued. It specifically sites disinformation and online conspiracy theory forums. They mention so many things. I think it’s more than a gun grab, they’re going to start coming after the Chans and sites like GAW. We need to keep an eye on this!

Anybody want to bet that Monkeypox, formerly limited to tropical Africa, is now appearing globally due to global immunity suppression by covid shots?
I have been listening to a lot, a lot of talk radio lately and what I am hearing is very disturbing to me. The hosts (seems almost like in unison) are saying the commies are trying to tear down our country so they can fundamentally change it, kind of like Barry when he was president. If the patriot/Q plan is to make us miserable and to show us what our country would be like under communism--then, to me, it seems like THE SAME PLAN. We would then have to beg government to change/make things better. Listen, I don't know, or have, any inside information--but this doesn't sound right from any angle that I have looked at it. Why do we have to suffer--we know and now everyone knows what communism is all about. This treason/sedition should be nipped in the bud (it is a little late for that) and it should be put down NOW, NOT LATER. To me it seems like the communists win no matter what way we play this. Hearing these hosts (radio) say this really made me feel sick to my stomach. I certainly hope this isn't the case.
Just bought a guitar, any hints on learning to play. Had the V last Sept and then 5 strokes so I want to keep my hands moving
Great way to get your fingers moving is to play some scales up and down the fretboard. Within those scales, play combinations if notes in them in different orders and you'll be making some good sounding stuff.
Thank you
NP. Chords are just multiple notes of the same scale played together, so if anything practice basic open chords and transitioning between them, and fiddle on the scales between rhythm.
Remember major is generally happy, and minor is generally somber/sad.
So maybe strum between a minor and e minor or G and C, getting your fingers to quickly and fluently transition between chords takes practice but can be fun with some scale fiddling between. Start with maybe the notes on a scale on the top two strings, different combinations of the same few notes, and then add another string at a time
Have fun with it :)
Soak your fingers tips in epsom salt water, start with soft strings, learn chords and chord progressions, then start chord chunking.
So my lead is talking to me how lucky we were that phizer was developing the vaxx. He said it was a great coincidence that the rona showed up and they had already been developing the vaxx for 10 years. I was shocked that he believed any of this. He's the type of person who wants to do all the talking. I told him I was not vaxxed and he proceeded to tell me what the conspiracy people think and continued to refute their arguments with his own thoughts. ( it's a one sided conversation) he talks while I work. I realize he only cherry picks points for his argument and ignores any counter point. He is a true believer in the deity of PHIZER, all knowing and blessing us with their benevolence. Yes, medicine costing thousands of dollars for their worshipers that can pay. Their is no talking to this person. he is lost. He made sure his wife who suffers from MS got the shot and the boosters. But now FOR SOME RANDOM REASON, her immune system is full on attacking her health and her condition worsens. Huh, I have no idea why this is happening to her. It's sad, they have been gaslit to the hilt.
Sounds like its a plesaure to work at your work place! My condolences

I was really hoping Trump would be back in office by now.
How can he come back before we hit the precipice? The whole point of the devolution was to ensure all the bad things happens under Biden's watch. Trump will be back ONLY after everyone wakes up to this nightmare and realises how close we came to losing it all.
Lots and lots of people are never going to wake up. You give the human race way too much credit. I work at The Home Depot and you would not believe how stupid people are; both customers and employees.
