Ditch the bag and start making it in a pan on the stove the real way. Burner heat to max, add olive oil, add organic kernels, tip the pan this way and that until they all pop, pour into bowl, melt butter into still hot pan, pour butter and add salt.

Skip the olive oil, and use the grease from the bacon you just cooked! Then, as it goes into the bowl, sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

No need for butter.

Oh gawd is it good!

This is the way. It tastes sooo good, and is much better than that fake chemical-laden microwave stuff.

And olive oil and butter have healthy fats - pour on the real butter!

That's how we made it growing up I put it in a pasta pot, covered the bottom with kernels, added the oil and was so fun to make and just hearing that sizzle brings back memories. In a small pot on another burner I would melt the butter to pour over it! YUM!!!!

This is what I do, but with coconut oil and a homemade seasoning salt. Organic kernels, sometimes from the Amish.

caramel corn

10 cups popped popcorn, about 1/2 cup unpopped
3/4 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Put the popcorn in a large bowl and preheat the oven to 250.
In a large saucepan, melt the butter and mix in the sugar, stirring until the sugar is dissolved.

Increase heat to medium-high and boil the mixture for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly. It will change from grainy to smooth and then will begin to thicken.

Note: Don't leave the stove while the caramel is boiling. It takes about .05 seconds for the mixture to overcook and turn brown instead of caramel-colored.

Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the vanilla, salt, and baking soda. The caramel will foam up when you add the baking soda, which is why you want to use a big saucepan.

Carefully pour the hot caramel over the popcorn (grab a fren to help) and stir gently to combine. You could add some peanuts at this point and make Cracker Jack.

Pour the caramel corn onto two cookie sheets lined with parchment paper or Silpat. Bake at 250 for one hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

  1. Grab a bag of the real shit from the grocery store.

  2. Dab some oil (I use vegetable, but sunflower is the tits too) in the bottom of a large pot.

  3. Drop a few kernels in.

  4. Set heat to medium high.

  5. Let a few of them lil bitches start to pop.

  6. Remove from heat.

  7. Add the rest of the popcorn.

  8. Return to heat.

  9. Listen for the pops to slow down.

  10. Remove from heat.

  11. Add heaps of the salt we've been mining all these years and shake that shit up.

  12. Enjoy.

This is almost exactly how we do ours here.

I use corn grown in the back yard. Instead of vegetable oil, I use coconut oil for the flavor. Plenty of butter and salt.

– Sunnywindows 2 points 3 years ago +2 / -0

This is the absolute best recipe… I’ll add: I use 3 Tablespoons of olive oil 3 quart pot 1/3 cup popcorn kernels Do as above, don’t forget to remove from heat for 30 seconds after the first kernels pop During popping, lift the lid slightly (away from you) a few times to let the steam escape After popping, pour the popcorn into a huge bowl, add a bit of salt Put 1 Tablespoon of butter in the hot popping pot, it will melt , then dribble it over the popcorn, salt a bit more, stir. This makes enough for two big servings or 4 small servings.
Enjoy,

Cheesy Popcorn (A more well balanced meal of popcorn!)

Ingredients

  • 1-1.5 tbl olive oil
  • 1/3-1/2 cup uncooked popcorn (depends on how hungry I am and if I think my wife will steal some).
  • 1-2 tbl butter
  • 1/2 - 1 (ish) cup grated cheddar cheese.
  • Salt to taste (not a lot because the cheese has salt).

Cooking Instructions

  • Cook olive oil over med-high heat.
  • Put in two kernels of popcorn.
  • As soon as one of the kernels pops put in the rest. The popcorn will start popping within 20 seconds or so.
  • Move the pan back and forth every 30 seconds to a minute or so to keep the popped popcorn from burning and to keep the kernels on the pan bottom. After you hear no pops for about 15 seconds, give it a final swish of the pan. If there are still no more pops for 10 seconds or so, put the popcorn in a bowl.
  • Add half the butter and cheese and some salt and mix it around.
  • Add the rest of the of the butter and cheese, saving a little bit of the cheese to sprinkle on top.
  • Refresh GAW for updates.

If you like cheddar cheese (I use Tillamock extra sharp) and popcorn, you will love this recipe.
