As a number of us understand on this board, there's a reason why Starlink (Musk), Rumble and Truth have been created. Essentially creating a parallel economy/media industry up against the DS. This is reinforced by Trump a few times, "we've gone around [them] like no one has gone around them before.". (One could assume Musk takeover & exposure of Twitter is part of Trump's reference as well)
So why is Truth Social effectively account 'locked'? Well, imagine there is some pretty crazy info that starts being dropped on Twitter via the TwitterFiles. The more damning it gets the more absurd & blatant MSM/DS attacks become. At some point the most damning bits will most likely be blocked by MSM coverage and the remaining abilities of the social media censorship apparatus. Most likely, it may get to the point of a potential blackout event or a "pull of the plug" so to speak. Even Twitter is not immune from this level of censorship (blackout).
So if normies understand that a lot of this information is now widely available to view on Truth Social, all they have to do is sign-up and create an account. It's at this point that these 'red pilled' normies will make a 'red pilled' choice to view the Truth. It's either choose Truth (even skeptically) or choose believing the media lies that have not only become more compounded but evidently brazen.

I believe part of the "Plan" was to create a parallel society where it really just comes down to normies making the choice. The fact that Q/WH's is making this transition incredibly effective & quick makes it nearly impossible to avoid . That's the genius behind the plan.
In the end, everyone will have a choice.
Edit: TS will eventually open up to the world. I assume Truth Social will pull many people over (even those who initially hated Trump). Which is why the servers need to be separate from DS control and operate via Starlink. One of the reasons why Trump had to "step aside as President" (ie, let Biden "win"), was to jump start the parallel society from the private sector. Remember, if Trump "won" in 2020 he would not be allowed to invest in TMTG+ and it would not of been enough time to develop the infrastructure needed (TS/Rumble/Starlink).

This is unconvincing to me. I don't see how letting people VIEW posts on TS, as opposed to giving them access to posting and commenting, is any kind of security threat to the platform. You can certainly visit TS (try it) even if you only get a "sign up" page. Why would simply viewing posts be more of a security problem?

I created my account in the US then went abroad for many months. Even with a VPN, I was not able to login to my account. It's obvious the people at TS are doing everything they can to not get foreign bots onto the platform.

The title of ops' post stated, The reason why TS is not open to the public, I read and reread the conclusions and I still see no valid logical reason to explain why TS needs your cell phone data to log in.
I have a potential reason that is logical but points to possible nefarious intent. TS needs your personally identifiable data because it is a honey trap that may be used against you in the future. If it was a platform for true free speech then it would also allow anonymity.
The fact that it is only open to US ceel phone carriers also points to a very targeted honey pot exposing the personal identity and political leanings of only US citizens.

I agree it needs the number to track you. I assume it’s doing the same from the IP address on the desktop. I am not techie. I’ve learned a lot from others here. Several people have said when they leave the country they aren’t able to login. While you assume it’s for nefarious reason, I try to be more optimistic and believe they are trying to keep out foreign influence. Allowing complete anonymity would be an open invitation, look at Twitter, Reddit, telegram, etc. I don’t think there’s an easy answer so it comes to personal discretion. I’ve personally watched countless “conspiracies” come to be truths to jump to the other side of nefarious.
First, I appreciate your well stated redress. I agree that allowing complete anonymity could allow bad actors and bots to make TS a cesspool.
Secondly, yes I do assume nefarious intentions first for all wealthy, globally financed actors. Any wise person should. However, I only presented my view as an iron clad unarguable "possibility" nothing more.
TS disallows even viewership or the ability to lurk, how is that social truth spreading? And why can you only access TS if you have US cellular phone number to log in?
It seems to me the answer to the latter is, it both inhibits the Truth spread on this social network to anyone outside the US, while geo fencing its' users within the United States.
Occam's razor applies. The simplest explanation to me is, they do not want the truth getting out to the world but want detailed data on constitutionally minded, freedom loving patriots.
I truly want someone to convince me that I am wrong, just like Fox Mulder, I want to believe. But the information I possess points me to saying danger, danger, danger, run away.

I don’t think there’s an anon on here that hasn’t been preparing for either scenario. So while we hope for the best, we prepare for the worst. I have a friend who strongly believes we’re being played from both sides. Here’s my personal reasons I carry out hope. Most are rhetorical.

Twittter- I’m not sold on Twitter either. This is a wait and see for me but it’s undeniable that people who wouldn’t have seen certain information are now seeing new information previously censored.
Truth Social. If the US has been under foreign attack (as so much evidence has shown) the first step would be to gather the evidence, the players, etc. Do you launch a social media site and secure it by ONLY allowing US citizens to participate? Why can’t a US citizen login outside of the US? Why apple products first? The rollouts and beta tests were interesting. Again, it could be used towards you’re theory. First came the verified “team trumpers” (Kash, Flynn etc), then anons and influencers, then informed patriots, then everyday joes, then some from the other side. But still no bots.
GAW- how has GAW remained standing when they have taken over just about every other platform? Also, GAW has had about a 90% track record of I told you so’s.
I personally believe it’s more complicated than we can even begin to imagine. Again, I’m not techie but I’ve had a few people explain several aspects of things like the capabilities of satellites, quantum computing, etc. and for me, it seems to be tied in with TS. I wait to see how Twitter plays out. As for Occam’s razor, I continue to circle back 😬 to the simple fact that there was absolutely no need for a global mass awakening as the great reset was being implemented. Why wake up the masses to their plans? It just doesn’t make sense. We got lazy. I’m 100% of the total belief that we haven’t even scratched the surface of how bad things are going to get. It still has to get much, much worse. So, we prepare for the worst but hope for the best. In the end, it will be up to us.

Not exactly. It's due to server expansion, security and beta testing. It's not a good idea to release a program/app worldwide if servers and customer usage ends up cripple the app.

Killing the deepnstate system is easier if we simply stop using it. To do that we need an alternative. Ts is one for social media but we don't eat based on social media. We also need an economic parallel to move to. When I see that one being discussed and implemented, I'll o ow we are getting close. U.S. dollar is going to collapse, that is the precipice. I have been so happy with starlink. Truly impressed. Not cheap to get started but if you understand the value of information sharing and knowledge, along with being willing to take the responsibility , if and when a blackout occurs, to provide information to my neighbors, it's worth every last penny. I contacted TS last week and asked them why I was being shadow banned. They responded, "we do not shadow ban anyone", They said perhaps my settings needed to be adjusted or perhaps I am following to many people and my posts were getting lost in the stream.
I say no, I am being shadow banned, and they do not want to admit it. I admit when I first created my account, I went hard with some of the hardest facts, posting child trafficking evidence and exposing political deep corruption.
I assume there is a timeline that must be followed, some evidence must be delivered when the time is right. We are slowly inching our way to a point when we can talk about the trafficking evidence. For instance, Musk revealing child porn on Twitter had to come first. They are building the background for all the really bad stuff to come out in the future.

How did you contact them? I cannot find any way to contact them to unlock my account. They locked it likely because I am now in Spain and using a VPN. My account was created during the first days they started and was working up until a month ago or so. I cannot see how to appeal it being locked.
