Ever notice, too, that if a small business becomes wildly popular, the first thing that happens is a big corporation comes along and offers to buy it? Next, the big corporation proceeds to either rake in the profits or run the business into the ground.
It recovered, to a degree. Nothing like the pre-recession days, but it's at as good as the other sit down chains, now. The few years after the great recession, it was bad.
Hope you enjoy and are excited about losing customers too. Your food is not good enough to warrant giving you a pass for wokeism. If the big businesses go under: Anheiser Busch, Nike, Addidas, Target, Walmart, North Face, Starbucks, Chik Fi La, Cracker Barrel, etc. that makes more room for small business start ups, even if they need to pool resources together for start up capital.
My gay sister and her wife knew all about this from 1991 when we all went there to eat while my dad was in surgery about 10 years ago. Her loud mouth bitching about how they don't support the gays was responsible for us getting coffee and nothing more, so we had to get up and leave.
Now I'm pissed because they have the best chicken and dumplings and fried okra.
Chicken and dumplings? Is like Chicken Pastry? See the picture in link. If it's the same it's very easy to make. I'll be happy to write out instructions. I don't add anything other than S&P. This recipe calls for something this company sells, maybe a thickener, not sure. Hardest part is separating chicken off the bone. I use this brand dough because it's available in the store. You can make the dough, lots recipes online. I don't because I cook pastry maybe twice in the winter.
I don't like the texture of fried okra. I'll eat it from a small restaurant if it's really crispy and crunchy. It's simple to make. Batter the sliced okra with flour and fry in oil. I'm sure chain restaurants like this are selling frozen battered okra and that's available in the grocery stores.
That's what I like, extra crispy! And I remember my grandma rolling out dumpling dough. I buy the frozen dumplings because they remind me of my grandma's.
Try sweet pickles in the pastry. My dad put them in and it's what I know. Pastry isn't good with out them. I use homemade pickles and if out watermelon rind pickles, they are tangy sweet. I know it sounds gross but I love it.
Maybe they'll swap out some of the farming implements on the walls for some buttplugs, dildos and other tools of the trade. Would make a great conversation starter with the kids while you wait for your slop to come out of the kitchen at grandma's birthday dinner 🤔🤔🤔
For anyone interested look into what Cracker Barrel employees have to do to advance in the company. It's right on their website. Very creepy. I knew after receiving this info from the company(after I had applied for a part-time job) that something was seriously wrong with this company. This woke crap confirms it!
My first thought was "eh, if they sell a rainbow rocker it isn't that big of a deal,"
Then I decided to look into things. In 2020, Gilbert Davila was put on the board of directors. Davila worked with Disney and Coca-Cola in the past (among others) and is the founder of Alliance for Inclusive and Multicultural Marketing (AIMM) whose website shows they work with Target and Anheuser Busch (among others). It isn't just a rainbow rocker, we are witnessing a coordinated push. Between Davila's company and AIMM, they've got hundreds of corporations that they're working with.
Same here. And not enough to eat, either. Don't get me started on the service from the disappearing waitresses. Last time I ordered two of the same side in an attempt to get more than a child's portion and it still was smaller than one used to be.
The disappearing waitress routine is what cemented our ban on CB in April. The quality and portion sizes were working us towards no more visits; but having to hunt down creamer for coffee and napkins was the last straw. We had good memories of CB Saturday morning visits in Texas 20+ years ago when we moved across country for my hubby's job and had no family around; but it is no longer tolerable (food, service, or cleanliness all have gone too far in the wrong direction).
At least at the ones around here, their food pretty much sucks any more (cheaping ingredients) and portions are about enough for a five year old. So I can't boycott them, I already am.
It was very good twenty years ago. You aren't missing anything the way it's gone down hill. Occasionally we would drive an hour to eat. I grew up on southern cooking, it wasn't as good as my grandma's but pretty close.
Neither have I, but on a long road trip I wanted to check out one of their stores. Bought some candy canes (very good), but most of the stuff was way over priced.
I noticed the last time I was there (biscuits and gravy in the middle of the day is great), they had added Impossible meat sub options. I figured this would come next.
Haven't eaten there in many years and we used to go at least couple times a month. The service is terrible and the food has gone downhill. I've heard they don't even have the hash brown casserole and that was one of the better foods.
Wow. It really does look like we're witnessing the death of corporate America. Go small businesses!

Yep.
We are witnessing Larry Fink

This is going to go over like a lead balloon in the heartland.
Their demographics are very much older more conservative folk.
I love eating there, but won't be anymore. Y'all have fun going broke.
Used to eat there, but the food got bad about 10 years ago.

Lots of grease. We used to go as a family for a birthday or something but haven't been in 12 or 13 years.
You ain't lying!
All ya need is a 300lb dude to come power-sit on that rocker. I'll voluntell my son to do it. ;)

We have their hash brown casserole recipe!
The recipe has been edited to include rainbow sprinkles.
The most uncomfortable rocking chair ever devised -- now available in degeneracy colors!
Remember this from 1991...they stood against hiring gays...then reconsidered...of course...

I do make my own of both actually. The closest CB we have is way out in the suburbs. So, geographically undesirable.

Just one more place not to take the kids.
Craphole Barrel

bottom of the barrel
Pride is the most evil and deadly of the 7 deadly sins.
Well said, Cracker Barrel!

"We don't want government in our bedroom!"
"Pssst... those government people are all pedo's, along with the CEO's of these companies..."
"We want Groomerment and corporations to create public bedrooms!"
I never understood the shift to government good. That is my only explanation.

That is a shame, the wife and I really like eating/shopping there. But now we will go elsewhere!
Nothing worse than woke crackers!
Really disappointed in them. I love their quilts. No more though. Sorry CB go woke go broke.
Ah, well...guess I won't be having any more of their cold hash browns and rubbery eggs. And the ambiance sucks, so... easy boycott to do.
No real loss for me. The last couple of times my family went the food was actually worse than McDonalds.

Learn to cook beans and rice in a million ways...
Live below your means and vote with your dollars...
Need less than they do... don't have to be faster than the bear.... just faster than them.
Go commando... both in the military and that other moar entertaining way if you want... like I do ;)
b-b-but going commando isn’t tuck-friendly
If it's good enough for big mike... it's good enough for me...
On the one hand: This sucks, I have one less place to go out to eat.
On the other hand, as part of my Buy Nothing and Be Happy strategy, I'm actually learning to be a half-decent cook.
Guess I'll open a local franchise of my own and call it Cracked Barrel to leverage TF out of it.
At least at the ones around here, their food pretty much sucks any more (cheaping ingredients) and portions are about enough for a five year old. So I can't boycott them, I already am.
Well, we have just discovered what's at the bottom of the barrel. It ain't appetizing.
Not Cracker Barrel!!
I have never eaten there. Thank you Lord.

How sad that is down the hill. I have always thought it was good but never had the chance.
Neither have I, but on a long road trip I wanted to check out one of their stores. Bought some candy canes (very good), but most of the stuff was way over priced.
Oh no expensive. I try to go where I can save money, however if it is a woke place don’t go rather to go where patriots are.
I noticed the last time I was there (biscuits and gravy in the middle of the day is great), they had added Impossible meat sub options. I figured this would come next.
Shut 'em down.

1.) It's not your rainbow 2.) Pride comes before the _ _ _ _?
