Eh, I'm ok that they get a salary. George Washington took a salary, not because he needed it, but because if he set the precedent where the president did not receive a salary, only the independently wealthy could be president.
The salary for members of Congress allows regular folks to actually take that job.

That's for reasons other than the existence of the salary. Without the salary, it would be harder for a regular man to become president.
And only people who are wealthy, or backed by wealthy people, can be Representatives and Senators.

The first thing I think is that we should definitely pay them, as they are dependent on us being taxed for their salary. What went wrong, they (mostly all of them) believe it is their money and not ours that they are paying themselves with. When this happened, it seemed like Katy bar the door, everything went out the window, like making their salary small so they would go back to their day jobs after a stint as a politician (working for all Americans, and making things better, not worse). So now this doesn't happen. With the Lobbyists paying them big, big, dollars it is even worse for us, we can't make them do anything good for America and this is a shame. We used to be able to tighten the screws on them, but now we don't matter because the Cabal has shown them how to steal elections--they don't need, nor do they want--us.

True, but the riches come not from the salary but the corruption. Our forefathers had it correct when they said power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely! We have seen it happening over time and now find ourselves in quite a pickle.

Your salary should be tied directly with the average salary of the area you represent. Including having to take pay cuts when the areas average goes down

taxation needs to be voluntary. imagine if it were, the government would have to actually be good so that people would love them and be happy to donate.

No public servant should ever draw a salary. Service should be voluntary. In fact, now that we're all connected, we no longer have the need for representation. Fire all of them. Clean out DC. Abolish all alphabet agencies. We can take care of ourselves. Your thoughts?

Politicians shouldn’t be paid. Housing should be provided for them while in DC, but it should be prison-like barracks. Food should also be provided, but the absolute bare minimum slop. Politicians should be treated like the subhuman trash they are.
