I remember him saying he paid his fair share in taxes, and then in proper Trump fashion, said something like, "I paid higher taxes than I should have".
How dare you suggest they sell properties back and forth between themselves to raise the value then borrow against it...that , that that would be illegal & Bank Fraud.
Don't they get reset in most places upon sale, and reevaluated periodically, and these are both based on actual market value of the property or comparables?
And they cant turn around and say "sorry we dont pay or compensate criminals" cos THATS EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID WITH ANTIFA/BLM & LEFTIST RIOTERS AT HIS INAUGURATION!!
That don't make sense to me. The owner of property does not give value to city property tax authority.
Where I live I pay taxes for my home and my vehicles every yr. They are the ones that tell me how much it's worth, not me
Tax authorities use information given by property owner to determine tax value.
I'm not a tax attorney or an expert on taxes by any stretch of the imagination, but from my understanding, large real estate developers and those that own commercial property is not the same as a single family house owned by the occupants.
Here's an article I found after a quick search that lays out the issue in fairly plain English.
The Sandlers helped found and are among the largest benefactors of.... the Center for American Progress, a progressive think tank; ProPublica, an investigative reporting newsroom.... In addition, the Sandlers or their foundation support organizations involved in medical research, the environment, human rights, and civil liberties.
Herb and his wife Marion also made Time's list of "25 People to Blame for the Financial Crisis". (Subprime mortgage implosion). Here's a little blurb on that.
Does that invalidate all the information given in articles published by them?
I'm not saying to just automatically trust them, by any means.
But neither should people simply ignore or disbelieve information found there simply because they don't personally like them.
The information given in that article I linked got Trumpβs tax assessments and loan information from the FOIA, and have provided them there for people to see for themselves.
Everything in that article can be verified by doing some digging yourself.
It's the lazy mind that ignores facts because they don't like the source they find it in.
It's especially hypocritical when people who do this turn around and share articles from the exact same sources whenever it suits their arguments. Something I see done here frequently, which is very disappointing.
I'm not promoting propublica. It was an article explaining NY's claims of tax fraud in regards to President Trump and his properties.
It also gave links to tax assessment papers from Trump's companies, along with loan applications for the same properties. That's exactly what started the entire trial.
You don't have to like or agree with the founder of a company to gain understanding of something going on they're reporting on.
Do you have an approved list of sources for what you will accept information from?
Or, and here's a crazy thought, people can look up how commercial properties in NY are assessed for tax purposes for themselves.
Weird that very few people on an elite research board seem to have the initiative or ability to do such basic searches themselves. π€·ββοΈ
So I guess Trump's attorneys should have just used the "nuh uh!" defense and just told the judge that's not how his property taxes are determined.
Just curious, how large is the commercial real estate holdings you have in Ny? Because if you own comparable real estate to DJT, then I tip my proverbial hat to you, sir. Or ma'am. Whichever you happen to be.
Do you own multi million dollar commercial real estate, including rental properties?
Or are you basing your comments based on taxes you pay on single family homes you purchased?
Do you think they do tax assessments the same for each?
I'm not pulling this info out of my ass. You can go look up the information yourself on it. NY has websites all about tax codes on property. Have you done that yet? No? Why not?
Or are you basing your comments solely on your personal experience?
So you just want to be able to make comments to me, but I'm not allowed to answer them?
Yeah, not gonna happen. If you don't want me talking to you, stop posting to me. Don't make posts on public forums if you can't handle people replying to you.
Ouch!, Oy Vey!, !Ay Caramba!, Oh bother!, βSuffering Succotashβ!
Wow, that was a whirlwind of nostalgia!
Only thing missing: "It's Howdy Doody Time"...which is extremely appropriate for this DA and Judge.
I remember him saying he paid his fair share in taxes, and then in proper Trump fashion, said something like, "I paid higher taxes than I should have".
Found it ...

If his properties are overvalued, then the entire real estate market should crash.
How dare you suggest they sell properties back and forth between themselves to raise the value then borrow against it...that , that that would be illegal & Bank Fraud.
This was the first thing I thought when I saw this line of attack.
Stupid people trying to play the smartie.
That my frens is a zero fucks given stare. πππ

And interest on the billions to boot.

Is this your idea or hers? If yours, someone needs to get this idea to her. It makes perfect sense.
Just seems to make complete sense to me...I'm sure she knows...ππ
There's actually a ton of evidence in the trial regarding this
Are real estate market value and tax appraisal the same thing or different in New York? Where I live they are two separate values.
Totally different, like pretty much everywhere else.
Don't they get reset in most places upon sale, and reevaluated periodically, and these are both based on actual market value of the property or comparables?
Hahahahahaha. That's not how any of that works.
Karma is a beotch.
My goodness, it's shilly in here. Someone get me a coat.
Accurate.
And they cant turn around and say "sorry we dont pay or compensate criminals" cos THATS EXACTLY WHAT THEY DID WITH ANTIFA/BLM & LEFTIST RIOTERS AT HIS INAUGURATION!!
Somebody said that at the beginning of this fiasco. Glad it got brought back up.
No, this is the very reason he's been accused of fraud in relation to his property values.
He gave significantly lower values on his properties to tax authorities than he did to banks to get loans on them.
That's the entire basis of the civil suit in New York.
Have you not been paying attention?
That don't make sense to me. The owner of property does not give value to city property tax authority.

Trump is so clean he squeaks. The complicated tax code doesnβt reflect reality. Comparison is a joke.
I'm not arguing that he's guilty.
What is with this attitude that just because someone understands facts concerning a case that they're saying Trump is guilty?
You all do realize that you can support understanding the facts surrounding a case AND still support Trump?
I didn't come up with this case against him. I am not prosecuting him. I am not criticizing him.
I am simply pointing out the facts of the entire basis of the case and you guys are having a shit fit over it.
Jesus, sometimes this shit is simply unbelievable.
Relax Bakas, sometimes TDS goes both ways.
No, they don't. Please come to my home and tell my tax agencies that my property is worth not what they tell me.
So I guess Trump's attorneys should have just used the "nuh uh!" defense and just told the judge that's not how his property taxes are determined.

See my previous comment.
See mine. Infinity.
Concerning all the downvotes:
You understand you're downvoting factual information just because you don't like it, right?
I'm not the one that came up with tax laws, I'm not the one prosecuting Trump.
I don't even agree with either of those issues.
I'm just pointing out why the OP's post in nonsensical.
I'm pointing out that people obviously aren't paying much attention and look ignorant when they say things like this.

FITE ME LIBTARD! π€¬
Over what, exactly?
And why do you think only libtards are capable of finding/understanding or interested in basic facts of this case?
I have NEVER as a property owner gave a value to any tax authority. They tell me what my property is worth.
You are a 57 day old account so I guess you are still learning.
Do you own multi million dollar commercial real estate, including rental properties?
Or are you basing your comments based on taxes you pay on single family homes you purchased?

You are truly reaching. My boss is a real estate investor in many cities.
He told me your comments have no merit.
Well holy shit. Get your boss on the line NOW and have him contact Trump's lawyers ASAP.
You realize I'm not just making this stuff up as I go, right? This is information that's in the trial records themselves.
I mean, seriously. This is what the entire trial was about.
Yet nowhere did Trump's lawyers say "Excuse me judge, this is not how tax assessments are done."
Why not? It would have ended the entire trial right there.
Please stop talking to me.
So you just want to be able to make comments to me, but I'm not allowed to answer them?
Yeah, not gonna happen. If you don't want me talking to you, stop posting to me. Don't make posts on public forums if you can't handle people replying to you.
There's a ton of info on this in the pretrial evidence and the trial testimony.
I know. But God forbid people do any actual research on this.
Much easier and more fun just to say shit and get upset when people try to introduce facts to whatever LaLa land people are living in. π€·ββοΈ
I mean, they've only had FOUR YEARS to familiarize themselves with the basic facts of this case. π€¦ββοΈ
What case?
Seriously? I hope you're just being silly.
The case that this entire post is about.
The case NY brought against him for tax fraud.
The one he was fined $454 million dollars for.
The one that's the reason he's been in the news lately because of speculation he wouldn't be able to raise the money for bond.
The one where the bond was just today reduced to $175 million until his appeal is heard in trying to get the fine lowered.

The Honorable Arthur Engoron ruling on the case.
That case.
I really just don't know what to say if you were serious about not knowing what case was being discussed. I'm also getting a migraine now.
