If I had 6000 US Marshals in DC, I would first arrest many of the unelected bureaucrats that work and reside in this area. This is where most of the nastiness from the government originates.
Two obvious observations: (1) 99.9% of the entire Senate/Congress will NOT be in DC during the recess, they will be vacationing in far-flung places or in their home districts schmoozing with their constituents. (2) Marshals (or any LEO) operate in teams, not as individuals, so out of 6,000, that will constitute maybe 1,200 teams. Perhaps the suggestion above that the embedded DS bureaucrats will be the target is a good one.

There’s only as of 2024. A bit under 4,000 U.S Marshals and Deputy marshals employed by the U.S Marshals Service.
So they’d need to be calling in State Law Enforcement partners to get 6,000.
Though to arrest 535 people plus potential associated staff/lobbyists and simultaneously lockdown the Capital. Probably going to need quite a bit more than 6,000.
Don't congress members typically go home to their home states to campaign and 'mingle with their constituents' during breaks? Not going to find many in DC.

Seems to me, it would be easier to arrest the congress members as they return in September. So the question is exactly how much preparation and coordination is required to prepare for this? Also might make sense to get them all there early so nobody can try and sneak in and evade capture.
