Hell yes...thats what im talking about.............you know who was behind taxing social security right??...oh yes it was our potato when he was a senator
A lot more seniors vote than the lazy young people. This was an excellent move. Notice that Bye-done is trying to pander to those young lazy people by once again ignoring the Supreme Court ruling and exempting them from student loans (all of which is being repeatedly prevented from happening by various legal challenges).
The lazy young people vote too.
Oh sure, they may not cast the vote but someone does in their stead and it's always for D or RINO.
Whether they know it or not.... kek
*****Biden was one of 88 senators who voted for a bipartisan bill in 1983 to tax up to 50% of Social Security for beneficiaries with income above a certain threshold. That vote came at a time when the Social Security trust fund for retirement benefits was running out of money. ****** The Government Has Borrowed $1.7 Trillion From The Social Security Trust Fund. The government has borrowed the total value of the Trust Fund to pay for other government spending. Beginning in 2017, the government will have to begin backing up these paper promises with real money.
What's amazing is that the USA is still fairly prosperous even with a heavy tax burden on the people. Just think what would (will) happen if (when) this burden was (is) removed.
The IRS budget in 2021 was $13.7 billion. They want to crank this up to $20 billion.
The US Federal govt is the largest single employer in the country. It is a monster that wants to eat us all.
Starve the beast!
The IRS is the longest"arm of the law" our Govt. has.
20 billion overhead to collect 3 trillion is actually kind of a great deal.
it's just.. they have zero need of the 3 trillion in the first place.. it's so much they just give it away to other countries and their rich friends.
All federal income tax goes toward interest on the artificially created "federal debt".
The debt must be canceled, the Fed and IRS disbanded.
The federal debt is just bonds and treasury notes.
Have you ever purchased a savings bond?
Congratulations, you "own" some of America's debt.
And only about 60% of our tax money goes to servicing this "debt."
Stop selling bonds and notes and you're out of "debt" in 10 years.
No more Social Security tax and eliminate property taxes for those over 65.
Property taxes are communist. Marx was all for them. Those taxes must go.
Shouldn't have property tax at all. SS tax is legitimate based on income as of right now, the govt created a welfare program and it has to be funded. For those who start drawing shouldn't pay tax, which I agree with. Problem is, the entire system is so unbalanced that it would be much more beneficial to repeal the federal income tax and leave things as they are, then work towards property, estate, gas
I have no problem paying my local property taxes. It pays for our police, fire department, public libraries, and yes our public schools. It helps pay county services such as our sheriff dept, county jail and local roads, etc.
I’m actually paying much less in property taxes here in my rural county compared to the taxes I used to pay in Upstate NY
That's almost always a lie, and if it isn't a lie with your current politicians, it may become a lie with the next generation.
Most of those taxes from all sources go to their pet projects or kickbacks from employing overpaid contractors that do as poor of a job as possible to look okay for a couple years, just long enough to be "forgotten", so that they can come back and do it again.
What area so I can leave this shithole
There are so many better ways to raise money than taxing people year after year forever, on property they own outright...or would own, if not for the taxing "authority" actually owning it.
That's the thing with these "bundled services" bills.
You have no idea where the money actually goes, if anyone really needs it right now, and you can bury a mountain of fuckups and bad spending underneath it all.
Are your police contracting with any neighboring areas? Is your fire department professional or volunteer? The Sheriff can be funded by fees. The jail can be funded by prisoner labor. Roads can be funded through your license plate.
At least then we would know what things actually cost.
Get rid of the IRS, problem solved.
Was the repealing of Chevron a step towards this?
Maybe...
seems like trump's making baby steps towards that, softening up the public to the idea of getting rid of income tax, first with the no tax on tips, and now this. I could be wrong, but by november, he might get enough people, even on the left, to like the idea of repealing income tax to make it happen.
Must repeal income tax, absolutely. And then NOT institute some draconian national sales tax, like 15, 20, 25, 30%.
It should be permanently capped at between 2 to 5%, or else politicians will raise it incessantly.
Smaller, less powerful government is what the People want.
Funny how Xiden was the one pushing for a tax on retirement SSI.
SSI does not pay taxes. It is a federal welfare program for the aged (mainly illegals) and disabled who never worked long enough in covered employment to qualify for Social Security. Stop confusing the two. Social Security you paid into with taxes from your work. SSI - Supplemental Security Income is WELFARE.
I receive SS payments every month and although taxes are not withheld from them, they count as INCOME and you are taxed on total above a certain amount.
Which is why I feel so conflicted getting it as part of SS disability.
If you are getting part of your disability it means that you worked and paid into the system, unlike many of the "disabled" who managed to find a crooked doctor to exaggerate or falsify their "disability."
I realize he's going bit by bit, first with "no tax on tips" and now this. But there should be NO TAX ON ANYONE. Just as our founders intended.
Yep
I imagine this is just a first form and he may be like “oh yeah, I forgot to mention that I fully intend to repeal all income tax”
I think we are headed toward no income tax, and if the country needs money it will be a flat tax on consumption of goods and possibly services.
I think he believes the cheap shit being imported from all over the third world will run our country on import taxes, and the added burden to imports will trigger the return of Made in America with a huge increase in American jobs.
Tarrifs.
How things were prior to the early 1900’s
You mean when we followed these werid documents called the Constitution and Bill of Rights?
Oh my Gosh. This would be helpful to two oldsters like us.
It really is crazy that we pay tax so that we can have a small income once we retire and then the gov't taxes that. Give Congress, or any governmental body, a way to charge citizens and they're all over it.
Article to go with your post - https://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2024/07/trump-announces-plan-eliminate-taxes-social-security-checks/
Thanks. Fox didn’t include an article.
This would be great. I will educate my kids on the importance of identifying as a senior.
Just repeal the federal income tax and that will be plenty for right now.
Are you sure? What if you could have it all right now instead? No income, property, death tax. I think we will be getting much more in the end
Unfortunately ending the Fed and taxation without representation can't happen overnight, though I would desire what you suggest.
there should be no tax on income or on movement of money. i like ron paul when he said the irs should be abolished and replaced by nothing.
I wish he could say all the major changes that are going to happen. I expect tariffs to replace federal income tax. Or at least reduce it to a very low %.
And free energy via the hidden technology, that'd be nice if he could say it, but media would call it a conspiracy theory and say that Trump is losing his mind.
He's already hinted at some things, like flying cars.
I bet my parents jump for joy at this and still convince themselves that I should be paying incoming and property tax for roads
The funny thing is all we would have to do to put us into a budget surplus would be to shrink the government by 10%. That is even an aggressive amount. How many bureaucrats are there that we don't need? How many of these government jobs are people who literally just sit there and stare at a screen and twiddle their f****** thumbs all goddamn day to the tune of $80,000 a year?
I think, and I don't know for certain, but this may have been a Reagan law (and no I didn't research it before or just after I wrote this). But, as of now, we will have to claw back all the social security payments (and Medicare) made to all the illegals. And I agree with the statement Trump made-that would be real nice.
I totally agree!!!
This was true also in 2017 when we had the WH, House and Senate, and they were already working on taxes anyway...so much we don't understand
No one should pay taxes. Fixed it. Trump needs to step up.
Currently, my SS has been suspended due to overpayment starting with July check and I owe them almost 12K back from last year's overpayment. Even with no overtime, I'd have an overpayment of 7k since I'm earning 17 an hour (35k) and the below FRA salary cap is currently 22,300. They also withhold SS from my pay and I pay income tax on it...
I'm just working as a security guard and 17 bucks is about average here. My SS is only 1256 and our rent is 1998 a month. WTAF am I supposed to do besides work OT when I* can get it lol? Luckily I have a wife who works and pitches in. So the 12K I owe is from last year, and I'll be over the cap this year by around the same amount, but they suspended my SS and I'm not sure how that will affect my overpayment amount. Worst case I will owe another almost 12k.
Thank God this is the last year for the salary cap, because I will reach FRA next May, and the salary cap balloons above what I will earn in your last year. If I don't pay them back all the overpayment then I assume they will start my SS back up, and then take the check until they have the money back.
So yeah, SS doesn't need to be taxed and there should be no earned income salary cap for collecting before FRA, they don't care if your income from non-earned income is a Billion bucks. You get less for collecting early.
My current plan is to pay the 12k soon then wait and see what happens next year when Trump is back.
VERY interesting idea indeed.
Let's change that to social security and taxes in general should be eradicated.
