If they are looking for people to tighten the belt, and squeeze all the green out of every dollar, I recommend my wife. Although the entire country would need to see a shrink after her first couple of weeks on the job.
Ditto, I'm moving from the mountains to a democrat crap hole. And then imagine seeing Lady Graham on your way to work or McConnell how do you do that without being fired?
Should have been remote positions. Seems counter-to-the-plot for us to waste personal time in traffic to go to a government job about eliminating government waste.
I unfortunately don't live anywhere near D.C. so commuting to D.C. isn't even an option for me. And no I don't want to uproot my entire family for a temporary government position.
Musk is shooting himself in the foot by not allowing remote work here.
In my experience remote is more productive for the good workers. If you shave commutes you may even increase productivity. In office has the commute and all of the overtly social interactions, water cooler chat, and walk-by distractions. FWIW.
Every time I took vacation my parents would say, "Are you sure you shouldn't be down there working". My dad very rarely ever took a vacation, and worked from 8am to 11pm 6 days a week. Many days he worked much longer, and he loved every bit of it.
If people are getting the work done, who cares where they are working from?
If they're not getting the work done, then why aren't they getting fired?
For many, their productivity increases as they work from home because they're not constantly being interrupted by Chatty Cathies and office birthday parties and other such nonsense.
It's also positively hilarious that people think that just because someone shows up to an office to work that they are automatically productive. Obviously they've never seen anyone exhibit the fine art of looking busy while doing nothing at all. Just frown at your computer and click your mouse repeatedly and people will think you're super duper productive.
Remote workers save companies money by reducing the need to pay for office space.
The only people I really see getting upset over remote workers are middle management type of people. Those whose jobs are basically looking over their employees shoulders and scheduling endless rounds of office meetings that spend hours accomplishing the same thing an email or two will do.
Most of the people I've worked with that WFH are unresponsive and unorganized. They're not getting their work done. People that get upset are not only middle management but senior techs trying to get shit done.
I turned down a WFH job BECAUSE ghosting was common and work gets done slower.
There is no accurate metrics because work is hard to track, so I'm not even going to try to argue with, "For many, their productivity increases as they work from home because they're not constantly being interrupted by Chatty Cathies and office birthday parties and other such nonsense."
It's not like your family can't disrupt your work. Lol
It's meant as a sacrifice. I'll foot some of the bill of leaving my shit here. I'll report back if i see contact but I'm definitely not in the top 1% lol
I was kind of under the impression that Trump was going to decentralize government departments, put some of them in Red States. Like move FBI would of D.C. and move it to Texas, or Florida, or Oklahoma.
Does not make sense to have a DOGE located in the most inefficiently operated geography on the planet.
Retired people with these qualifications would be an excellent resource. They already have retirement income so a temp job helping to eliminate much waste may be a great fit.
I would like to see "statesmanship for the sake of future generations" become a top retirement objective with the talented and patriotic, perhaps displacing even golf, cruising, and pickleball!
We certainly have the greatest role model imaginable!
Quite possibly, the intent was a One and Done approach. To extend the department without a termination date, would be simply empowering a predatory department, without limits on expansion.
This agency gave itself a shelf-life, identify waste and go away.
Doesn't mean it won't be re-instituted from time to time.
The people voted for major reform.

I acknowledge that this role is an in-office, full-time opportunity located in Washington, DC. US Citizens only. *
Ehh I don't know if I will qualify as I have no work experience, but I have a college degree with a couple of certs (probably outdated now) but I'm not moving to DC for a temp job.
Went to DC twice and had bad experience, plus I probably will get fired on the same day I'm hired.
I’m old and retired. And wouldn’t want to live in the DC area ever again. ( I actually was a native who grew up there before moving out in the mid 1970’s )
It has been proven that long hours and productivity are unrelated. Also, a job takes as long as the time we set aside to do it. 15 min increments to work as fast as possible are incredibly useful and motivating. As we have seen, federal employees have long since taken advantage of punching in for long hours!
This job description is a waste of resources and needs to be eliminated!
Not worthy. Lack follow through.

Also too old.
And no cell phone
If they are looking for people to tighten the belt, and squeeze all the green out of every dollar, I recommend my wife. Although the entire country would need to see a shrink after her first couple of weeks on the job.

Qualified except I refuse to live anywhere near DC.
Ditto, I'm moving from the mountains to a democrat crap hole. And then imagine seeing Lady Graham on your way to work or McConnell how do you do that without being fired?
LOL, I swear I was expecting, "how do you do that and stay out of prison."
I am there also!
Me too

Absolutely.
Got excited, checked it out. In-office, in DC.
Not just no, HELL NO.
Not only is it in office for software engineering (why?), but it's in DC, the shittiest of shitholes.
So I guess he'll recruit from the 90% democrat base in DC, Maryland and NoVa?
Ugh....
That's optimistic - he'll probably just outsource it all to H1Bs.
what if it pays enough to help you overlook that?
I unfortunately don't live anywhere near D.C. so commuting to D.C. isn't even an option for me. And no I don't want to uproot my entire family for a temporary government position.
Musk is shooting himself in the foot by not allowing remote work here.
I agree.
Remote work is still a good option in my view.
Remote work has always been a scam. People abuse it eventually That's probably what they want to avoid
Bullshit!
It's a scam only if mid management does not give people clear roles and duties. When you provide clear roles and duties.
It's easier to know which API metrics to judge performance. Do you know how many jobs out there have no real measurable attached to it?
Coming to the office means what? Some manager LOOKING OVER YOUR SHOULDER and CRACKING THE WHIP???
In my experience remote is more productive for the good workers. If you shave commutes you may even increase productivity. In office has the commute and all of the overtly social interactions, water cooler chat, and walk-by distractions. FWIW.
This is correct.
If a company has to have workers in the office. That means they are hiring none "self starters".
These are the types that needs a baby sitter. Why hire those types of people to begin with.
Only once, in my 40+ years of working, for about a year, did I have to report to an office building.
For me, working from home did not mean I could loaf. It meant I never left the office and could work till mid-night.
Definitely true for a small group of people. I'd have the same issue. Here I am on a month vacation thinking about work and I'm here.
Every time I took vacation my parents would say, "Are you sure you shouldn't be down there working". My dad very rarely ever took a vacation, and worked from 8am to 11pm 6 days a week. Many days he worked much longer, and he loved every bit of it.

On the other hand this is a temporary position and by the time people relocate to there months of potential work would have been already lost.
It's meant as a sacrifice. I'll foot some of the bill of leaving my shit here. I'll report back if i see contact but I'm definitely not in the top 1% lol

Generally, most Federal Workers fall under a General Scale (GS) pay rate. It's not luxury living, but it's a stable income.
And as an individual that has seen RIFs, offshoring, companies dissolved or acquired - without stability, you have nothing.
Department of Government Inefficiency. Because driving in traffic is always more inefficient than simply rolling out of bed and being able to work.
Honestly thinking more on it, it's likely an effect of the new Trump EO ordering federal workers back to the office.
But didn't Trump make it so government employees can no longer work from home?
I'm waiting to see if Elon only hires non citizen H1Bs.
Retired people with these qualifications would be an excellent resource. They already have retirement income so a temp job helping to eliminate much waste may be a great fit.

I'm retired ill work for free. It's a job you work yourself out of.
Given that this career will terminate on July 4, 2026 - It's a temporary situation.
Would that make it the shortest-lived government department ever? Serious question.
Quite possibly, the intent was a One and Done approach. To extend the department without a termination date, would be simply empowering a predatory department, without limits on expansion.

Elon should talk to General Flynn. I know a group of digital soldiers who would enjoy doing it for free.
I've got experience in investigating financial crimes as well as other stuff. Be happy to donit as a service to my country. Free.

Except Musk doesn't want "digital soldiers" for this position, he wants people in the office.
Would consider if it was based out of Florida, or any one of the sunny states. Remote assignment even better!! But Wash DC? Nope.
Yeah and if remote is not allowed for what is going to be only like a 1 year gig at least open some offices in other places.
I'd love too, i just am prone to making rash, harsh decisions. I feel I would overwhelm the HR department with liberal tears and hurt butts.
I don't fit the category but after raising children and taking care of a household I guarantee I know how to balance budgets and cut waste.
Hire me.
Return to office is one of the biggest letdowns of our economy.
I already eliminated some waste by suggesting digital soldiers doing it for free.
The least Elon could do is provide a suggestion box where we could point out obvious places to look.
Started to fill it out and then saw you must come to work in Washington DC. WTF? Hell No!
All the money sent to Ukraine was a complete waste, Thank you.
*I acknowledge that this role is an in-office, full-time opportunity located in Washington, DC. US Citizens only.
Ain't livin in that shithole or anywhere near it...
Ooh...So close...technically NOT a "US Citizen" - even as a son of the American Revolution...Y'all plan on hiring any sovereigns?
Who downvotes this?
Dumbasses that don't actually know what a US Citizen is...
In person IT jobs are (mostly) wasteful. Otherwise I'd consider it. Elon needs a paradigm shift on this.
I'll gladly fly all the way to DC just to tell everyone to gtfo until their court date.
The comments on that X thread are pretty darn funny.
Ehh I don't know if I will qualify as I have no work experience, but I have a college degree with a couple of certs (probably outdated now) but I'm not moving to DC for a temp job.

Here's what I don't get. We're suppose to cut down on unnecessary government spending but we're planning on sending people to Mars.
I’m old and retired. And wouldn’t want to live in the DC area ever again. ( I actually was a native who grew up there before moving out in the mid 1970’s )
I'm too successful in the private sector to ever lower myself to working for tax dollars. Anyone who gets paid with tax dollars is a criminal.
Tax dollars are not going to be a thing very soon.
My friend was hired recently by the US Digital Service dept. which got repurposed and renamed to DOGE.
He texted me and was like "Lol, I work for DOGE now"
I wish I could man. I wish I could. I think Elon would have to show up at my door to convince me that I'm eligible lmao.
I would love to help in this effort, but I could not work full time as I own my own business and need to work there.
Can I work from home? kek

I'm qualified to fire them all.
If they are needed, they can re- aply
They ain't looking for shit.
I tried to apply to them, they just want an H1B.
It flat out says "US Citizens Only" so clearly you didn't.
Clearly I fucking did you stupid fuck. Would you like for me to post the resume I pm'd to them? Don't fucking tell me what the fuck I did, bitch.
I applied to them 2 fucking minutes after they posted on twitter, and was left on read.
They don't want US Citizens. You can suck their taint all you want. Cunt.
