I hate this argument. Just because you have been hearing that it is coming your entire life doesn’t mean it’s not coming. The Israelites heard their Messiah was coming their entire lives as well.
Many modern Christians just sit back and expect God to take care of it all, without taking any action themselves to spiritually develop themselves and their relationship with the Creator. Jesus’ sacrifice provides salvation by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8-9), but believers are called to respond actively with good works (Ephesians 2:10) instead of passively saying, "Jesus is coming," and then doing nothing to prepare.
Yeshua speaks parables of preparedness (spiritual and otherwise), and we would be wise to heed His Words. For example, in the parable of the Bridesmaids rejects passivity—the foolish virgins assumed they were ready but failed to act with proper preparation of having extra oil, missing the feast and being told by the Brides groom that he does not know them. Several other parables have similar themes of being physically prepared, which can be interpreted as being spiritually prepared as well. I believe these concepts go hand-in-hand, and we should not just passively wait for Yeshua to come. As you yourself have mentioned, the Israelites heard their Messiah was coming their entire lives, and many generations have passed on since Yeshua was here over 2,000 years ago. The parable examples that stress preparedness versus passivity include the Parable of Talents, the Wise and Foolish Builder, the Faithful Wise Servant, and even the parable of the Rich Fool addresses preparation to an extent.
I see many people take this attitude with their health, actually, though more and more people are actively taking steps to address their wellness and good health through preventive acts, education and awareness, and remedial resources outside of the Western medical pharma/biogenetics system. Some people just sit around and wait to die, while others fight fight fight, even if they were just diagnosed with cancer. Some just continue to subscribe to Western medicine, instead of finding the root cause of the issue. I see this as a parallel to passively waiting for Christ versus actively preparing and being wise/a good servant or caretaker of the temple of the body that hosts God within you.

So if we want to limit AI from violating our 4th Amendment for example, we have to wait 10 years?

They've been working on the frameworks for this for decades now. As soon as the internet became an everyday thing, there was an economic incentive for ad companies to harvest as much of your data as possible. It didn't even necessarily start as a surveillance operation. It is in the best interests of ad companies to show ads for products you are interested in. Due to the lack of consumer privacy laws, it has gotten to the point that they now know every keystroke you type into the Windows search bar.
Turning it into a mass surveillance tool during the coovid scare was trival.
