I have a 6 yr old and he has been in speech therapy at school. He goes every day all day all year. Private Christian Trinity. Well we had conferences. She beleives Liam has Apraxia of speech. It's can never be cured per say. But it can be managed. I'm scared walking into untreaded territory.
I messaged the mods about this 3 days ago about where to post this to avoid a suspension. So if this needs deleted and replaced somewhere else please let me know and I'll move it. I never got a response from any of the mods so accept my apology if I posted in the wrong place.

The power of prayer. Never let someone tell you there is no hope. Especially from the education system. Prayers for you and your son. Do not settle for the opinion of man.
Prayer going up from here for your son.
Thank you!!
I was a former SLP who worked with this kind of disorder. Apraxia is a difficult disorder but can be overcome. Please know that he will be able to speak eventually but right now he doesn't have the motor planning to do so/ PM me if you want some suggestions.
I am sorry for this news. I pray for proper management of this for him and you.
Thank you!!
Prayers for Liam!!
Prayers for your son and your family.
In Jesus holy name, I pray dear Lord for the full healing of your son's speech. I pray dear Lord that he will recover his speech in a short time as we know dear Lord that you are much larger than any problem this child will have. I thank you Lord for hearing our prayers and delivering the blessing of speech for this young boy. Bless you Lord for all things given to him and this family. Again we pray in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Amen.
Agreeing with Mary911. I plead the Blood of Jesus over Liam. We declare every plan the enemy has for Liam null and void. We take back the territory taken from him and give it to God. Whatever has been stolen from him must be returned double. We decree Liam will be blessed with the fullness of all Christ has for him. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
Amen!!!!!
My son was diagnosed with apraxia when he was two; did three years of twice-weekly speech therapy. He is now in his early twenties and you’d never know he ever had an issue. I found a website all those years ago called apraxia-kids that was very helpful, especially in dealing with my insurance company who didn’t want to pay for any of his therapy.
Prayers for your son to progress through this, and prayers for hope and peace for you.
God bless you both. It sounds like he's already blessed Liam with an awesome parent. I believe He can heal anything and I am praying for your strength and Liam's endurance. Whatever the future holds, I don't believe Love is beholden to the words we speak. Good luck to you both. Praying for and wishing you all the best in the grace of God.
Everyone has a purpose under God. They will try to label your son all day long but love him and pray for him and God is capable of all things.
Hang in there. You've got a lot of prayers going up for you and your son.

WWG1WGA Fren. Prayers and Love heading your way!
Prayers for Liam and your family being sent now from me.
I found this: "There is no single approach that has been proven effective in treating apraxia and it has a likeliness of resolving through repetitive tendencies and personal attention." Sounds like a lot of drills and attention is the best possible way to deal with it; hopefully no drugs or surgery is being considered. Prayers coming you way!
There is no effective drug for this condition. Basically there is a neurological problem between where a word is conceived and the oral motor generation.
In other words, everything is fine up to the point where it is necessary to engage the mouth. At that point there is some kind of block or disconnect and speech becomes difficult or impossible.
Therapeutic treatment involves strengthening neurological connections to overcome the problem. It is a LOT of purposeful repetition, but the condition can be overcome.
Prayers. New diagnosis are hard on the entire family. I’m a special needs parent. There are so many “not great” things we “could” dwell on but we choose to love and enjoy instead.
I highly suggest mental therapy with a Christian therapist and prayer. Then find the good and dwell on that.
Evil is trying to suck your joy. Don’t let it win.
Whether you are wiping the drool off of your child’s chin, or shuttling from therapy and dr. Find the joy. Literally find it and make it up if you have to, some days you will. Your joy is the priority because it feeds into the hearts and attitudes of the rest of the family also going through this hard time.
With God all things are possible. Some day he will be speaking God's Word to hungry people. Prayers sent .
I will be praying for your family. I worked in special education for many years and I have a son with Asperger's Syndrome. The best thing you can do, besides prayer, is do as much research as you can about Apraxia. And if possible, find a Children's Hospital near you that has a specialty speech department. May God bless your precious Liam, you and your family. Knowledge, awareness and advocacy are key.
Have faith in the MAN upstairs... He has been a savior in my life and my daughter's life. Don't give up hope. Prayer sent.
?????? For you. We have a special needs son and he is a blessing!
Praying for Liam (a fine Irish name!?) and you without ceasing! ? Laying this in God's Hand's for His Perfect Healing! Our Father Loves when we put our trust in Him. He proves Dr's wrong EVERY day!
Praying for your son. Everything will be ok. ❤️
I went to speech therapy as a kid and I really think it was a blessing for me. Prayers coming to you, Liam and your family
I will definitely pray for him.
My best friend's daughter has this. She's in 3rd Grade and is performing at grade level with every subject. She still has trouble speaking the right words sometimes, but performs at what we would consider a normal level verbally. She does still go to speech therapy and goes to tutoring because it will hamper the child's ability to perform "properly" in a traditional school setting, which by their metrics, will hold the child back, but she only has to go to speech therapy twice a week for about 45 min a session.
I've watched this little girl grow up her whole life. I watched her go from a barely speaking, shy and timid little girl, into a bright, spunky 8 yr old who is what the rest of us would consider normal.
My prayers are with you and your son, but with the work y'all are doing, he'll be ok.
Prayers up for you and Liam.?
I pray God provides you and your son the guidance you all need to manage and possibly overcome this regardless of what the “experts” say.?
Whatever the case, your son is perfect the way he is. When my now 8 year old was 5 or 6, I started freaking out because he has comprehension issues. I took him to different doctors because he had adhd/comprehension difficulties that made life suuuuuper hard. There was no real outcome other than to put him on meds. So I dropped the whole idea of trying to "fix" him. So glad I did not go down that road because he is improving the older he gets. It's still very annoying dealing with him sometimes, not going to lie, but he is who he is and ultimately I realized I love him more for it. So maybe your kid will grow out of these things, maybe he won't. Don't let someone's diagnosis be the be-all-end-all. I have found that many doctors are wrong, all the time. It's a lot easier to make a diagnosis than to not give one. Stay strong and I will be praying for you and your son .
How is a prayer gonna help? Don't you believe God made him that way for a reason?
Kids that are different are special and are usually major achievers due to over compensation. Just give him love and patience and he will achieve what he needs to achieve on his own time line. My mom said back in the 1950s she didn't learn to read like the other kids she a few years late. She went on to have an amazing life as a nurse and a great parent.
My child also had apraxia. Check out Nancy Kaufman up near Detroit. Her technique is world famous. Moreover, she is a delightful person to work with.
Most likely she will want you and your son to attend her clinic for a week of intensive therapy after which she will set you up with a therapy plan to take home and implement with your community SLP.
Also, consider looking for a local SLP that specializes in apraxia (and hopefully also practices Nancy's technique). For different reasons I have had two of my kids in intensive therapy (SLP, PT, OT) for well over 10 years now, and one thing is clear: just because someone has an education in therapy techniques, that doesn't mean that they are actually skilled at working with clients or that their training / ability matches with your child.
A good therapist can make a HUGE difference. A great therapist can be life changing.
