However, they can also do a simple BLOOD TEST.
Nearly any lab can draw blood and test it for the virus rather than use a nasal swab.
There is no reason why a surgical hospital can't accommodate alternative test methods.

I am a surgical nurse and my facility is requiring a covid test prior to surgery. They get federal reimbursement for the tests so they want to test everyone. We do accept tests from other facilities. I am told that at CVS you swab your own nose. That might be a work around as long as they aren't required to watch you. Blow your nose and swab the tissue?

Similar thing here. Had a productive cough, have a history of pneumonia, had zero symptoms of COVID, but MD demanded I take the test.
I refused. MD said she would not prescribe ANYTHING for me, unless I complied.
