To answer your question of "Who cares" - Truth and facts are supposed to matter, or else you're just playing the same game of bullshit the left does. If that's the low level you want to sink to, to give credence to your confirmation bias, then so be it. Others prefer facts over fiction and want a society based on truth over feelings.
I care, others care, because if you don't have all the facts - not feelings, but facts - then you can't level judgement at anyone.
