Lauren Boebert: Why is a cryptocurrency provision tucked into a 2,700 page infrastructure bill?
posted 3 years ago by undine53 3 years ago by undine53 +481 / -1

It has NOTHING to do with infrastructure.

Quietly tucking unrelated laws into bills just to get unpopular stuff passed through is why people hate DC politicians.

Right. Not to mention none of these Congress-members have any idea whatsoever what blockchain is, how it operates, or what it can do. It's ridiculous that some Big Banking bitch ass on Wall Street can write up a bill, hand it to Republican or Democrat Congress-members and say "hey, heres a bill. Sign it". Only coward filth would be such a cuck.

There are (or used to be) house rules against non germain amendments. The senate allows them. Then they have to go to a conference cmte to decide and then both houses have to pass the conference report. Unless the rules cmte allows this then any member can object.

These new members should become familiar with H.R. Gross who by using the house rules and precedents stopped a lot of hanky panky.

Here's the real reason why... It's mostly to stop the crypto nft dividend from the GameStop short squeeze and to stop the new GameStop CEO from completely making a blockchain based Wall Street trading system that would be absent of all the middle men and fraud.

Many elites and billionaires have heavily shorted GameStop. They all get together do this with their private little clubs for companies that they think they have the fix in on.

This is going to absolutely destroy the finances of not only many elites but also the global Banks unless they can stop crypto in its tracks until they can develop their own centralized system and implement it.

Doesnt matter, whose going to shift their stock to an exchange that would only be able to operate for a little over a year?

The only really unique thing about NFTs in the crypto world is that they're indivisible. Kinda like stocks. So if the GME NFT is a 1:1 share issue (a stock split has been mentioned) with the intent of recalling its stock on the NYSE the Hedge Funds and Banks are fucked, especially Hillary's favorite Goldman Sachs. Then what stops AMC or BB, who were/are also ridiculously shorted, from switching?

They're desperate to shut down crypto.

Fascinating. How much of this is speculation and how much was revealed by Matt Furlong?

No, it was for taxation purposes and if the bill is interpreted in the wrong way by lawmakers they could even cripple crypto innovation in the US.

What exactly is the crypto provision about?

permalink save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼
– SpaceForce 4 points 3 years ago +4 / -0

Basically that EVERYONE dealing in crypto has to do KYC bull shit. They want to track us and what we do with it.

▲ 3 ▼
– SomeRandomGuy77 3 points 3 years ago +3 / -0

Well, that's, exactly why BTC was created.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– Space_Monkey 3 points 3 years ago +3 / -0

BTC is 100% transparent and traceable. It's a double edged sword. Good for auditing but bad for privacy.

If you don't want the government to track you with crypto, learn to use Monero.

Yeah, over an unrelated charge, something about an accusation of fraud by some former colleagues in South Africa. He'll also stepped down as lead maintainer for monero.

How did that pan out for Assange? What will the effect of this be on other devs? You can't just shrug these things off, they do matter.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– Space_Monkey 1 point 3 years ago +1 / -0

What does Assange have to do with it? I'm not aware of the link there, but also the general reaction of the monero community was that its a frivolous charge that's not gonna go anywhere.

– SpaceForce 1 point 3 years ago +1 / -0

well it was invented because of unfettered money printing. The tracking of every transaction is just a bonus.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– SomeRandomGuy77 1 point 3 years ago +1 / -0

And who provided the unfettered money printing, and who all but owns every gateway and development chain to BTC and who now wants to merge "no buy lists" with Big Tech to PayPal to Social Credit scores to Real ID to wrongthink?

The merging of facebook/youtube information gathering with open financial transactions that cannot be used for private stuff is the permanent death of freedom. Before, a bank would know who you spent money with or they would know you took cash out.

Now, in a very short time. The all seeing eye will know that you said on facebook you did support BLM but that instead you sent BTC or govcoin to [right wing thing] instead. Government know, tax people know, political party knows, NGO researchers know, anyone at home who knows kinda what they're doing knows.

Please for the love of God grasp that as smart as something like BTC is, it takes someone far less smart than that to know what a public ledger would end up doing for the masses it purported to have served.

BTC taken to it's logical end point is the final word in a free society.

It’s the same reason they shut down online poker in the United States, they couldn’t track the money... or so they say. Bush in ‘06 passed the ‘Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.’ And then in 2011 poker experienced a “Black Friday” when the feds shut down the ability for Americans to play online poker in USA. All also under the guise of “The Patriot Act.”

Actually currency is infrastructure, sure.

Congress is the only entity which can issue or legitimize currencies.

No bill should be more than 10 pages.

To all politicians out there…

If you can’t explain it simply, you don’t understand it.

If you can’t synthesize from the whole, you’re an asshole.

they don't have total control of the crypto space
