We've heard this before, a month or two ago. One thing to remember is that the AG Dept has always paid certain farmers not to produce certain crops/products in order to keep prices up for everybody else. I'm not saying they're not doing something more nefarious now, but every story where a farmer is paid not to grow something does not necessarily mean the gov't is trying to starve the people to death. So, research with discernment and make sure you have something more than just this standard price support structure.

Yes, this a lot of stuff actually gets wasted or destroyed to keep prices higher for farmers because the could not afford to grow crops. I wish there was a better way instead of destroying food that people could eat.

Agree, that "wasted" food/crops could readily be used in poorer areas of our country where families really need the extra help with feeding their families.

Dumpsters are surprisingly expensive. Probably more liability that they don't want to risk getting sued because someone got sick eating nearly-expired food.

you want to get real pissed look into the "right to repair" lawsuits going on with those big tractor and machinery manufacturers.

if you work on your own tractor they can disable it and refuse to give you codes to get it running again.

...for your safety.

NO FUCKING WAY!

That is some communist bullshit right there. I'm telling you that is what they fucking want for EVERYTHING. Pretty soon you won't be able to fix your own fucking BREAKFAST.

Man ... just when I get myself calmed down, I read about shit like this.

that link is exactly the issue i was talking about, it's insane. there are people out there who are running black market computer hacking services for farmers... when john deer comes in and shuts their machinery down these white hat hackers come in and hack the tractors to get them working again.

it's insane that you pay 100k for a combine then can't even change a fucking tire on it without them shutting your machine down unless you pay a huge fine/fee to have their "professional" come and take the tire off and put it back on again.

That's exactly the same shit going on with McDonald's ice cream machines. I just read about it a couple of months ago. I don't have the article I read but I found this one that doesn't go into quite the depth as the one I read but it explains well enough what is going on. https://readon.substack.com/p/why-are-ice-cream-machines-at-mc

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– ThebigLMAOski17 1 point 4 years ago +1 / -0

the crazy thing about that whole mcdonalds ice cream machine debocle is someone actually solved the issue, they figured out exactly why the machines never reach the right temps and shut down and it's because the employees are over filling them and making it impossible for the machines to run through the pasteurization cycles.

but the company who sells those machines have it in the contracts that only they can service the machines... with their service company.

at a certain point that company just decided that the way to work mcdonalds over was to sell them an entire fleet of something that they will constantly fuck up, and make all their money on the backend servicing the machines.

the same company makes the same type of machines for burger king, wendy's, chick-fil-a... none of them have these issues...

a simple update to the software actually fixes it (telling the machine to run the heating cycle longer so an overfull machine has time to reach the right temp)... so does telling employees to load the machine right... neither side will commit to doing either.

also fuck the mcdonalds who clean the machines after dinner rush and then are too lazy to "dirty them up again" at night.

Less cities, more urban and rural living.

A little bit of work and space is all you need to produce a good bit of your own food.

Growing up the whole family grew stuff and canned, so the majority of our food was grown and canned by my mom, dad, grandma, and aunts.

A lot of people have had limited production this year in their home gardens. The ones that did well were the ones that had flowers around their plants to pied piper the pollinators. I did not, but my neighbor did. His tomatoes and cucumbers were heavy producers.

Yeah, I always thought with food stamps that people should have to do so many hours of community service to get them. So the ones that really needed it would do it

Not at all, more to the point this is a repeat topic that has been discussed a lot, with more information in older posts.

New people benefit from old or repeat content true, I've missed stuff myself. However, this topic, while dubious at best, has had repeat, fairly thourough discussion on many other threads to the point this could be considered slider fodder. Do a quick search on farmer or crop and you can have all the discussion coverage you could want.

people often mistake the policy of paying farmers to let feilds sit for a year to regenerate with "paying farmers to destroy crops"...

but if they actually are paying them to destroy perfectly good crops then we should know about it.

In the upper NY area in the late 60s there was a story about a farmer that bought a Cadillac with his subsidies to keep the land fallow-most of his land..

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 7 ▼
– TSearch 7 points 4 years ago +7 / -0

This story is meant to unnecessarily alarm people. There are times where farmers have weather related problems that result in filing for crop insurance or disaster assistance. If they do then they are obligated to destroy the already damaged crop so they cannot double dip. No farmer is destroying quality crops or animals, current market prices are too high.

Jokes on these faggots, I was poor as shit from 2008 to 16 when Trump boomed the economy landing me firmly in upper middle class.

I have the habits and experience of poverty, with the money to get everything I need.

  1. Pantry always has enough calories to last me 6 months. I always buy a few non perishables and things on sale to add.

  2. I've been too poor to buy TP before, so I ALWAYS have a full stock.

  3. I don't waste money. I may make 110,000 but if you looked at me you'd think I was poor. All my money goes towards working for me.

  4. Large seed bank with equipment to grow stuff inside too

  5. I bought a cheap house at a great time and great interest rate, I could potentially quit working and live here indefinitely

  6. I'm always working towards the last step, owning land isolated from people to live off grid. With all the above, this is coming together nicely. If my house value goes in my favor, I could sell to finish off my plan.

The propaganda and programming have killed most folks ability to use simple logic rather than their feelings. I feel bad for these people, I'm prepared and they are clueless as to how well off they truly are.... and they're not preparing because they're clueless.

Likely true. Add this info to the following known situations and it all makes sense

(1). Look into Lake Meade in California. Over the past 2 years this giant reservoir has been drained down to a mud puddle under the guise of ‘saving a threatened SMELT population’. Irrigation to 1/3 of America’s fruit/vegetable crops about to be in a manufactured drought.

(2). Were you paying attention during Covid 2020? Walmart’s, Home Depot’s, child care centers etc there were no Covid outbreaks anywhere except small businesses AND ALL the meat packaging plants including Tyson and Smithfield (CCP owned) and there were frequent shutdowns. Got so bad farmers were being offered full price for cattle from USDA to euthanize their herds as there were no slaughter houses and processing plants open to take them.

What you are seeing is just a continued effort towards a manufactured food crisis/inflation.

Technically, subsidies are this in a different manner.

If someone is paid a certain amount from the government for the crops they produce. They are essentially making the same amount of money for producing less crops.

As a teenager in the late 60's, I worked on my uncle's farm in North Dakota. It was common practice for farmers not to plant certain crops on certain number of acres and get paid for it. I spent hours on a tractor tilling the soil to keep the soil black and weed free.
