On the other hand, a nuclear EMP will kill portable devices as well as the connected devices.
In any case, people need spares that are disconnected and stored in Faraday cages.

This is very concerning. I monitor the sun for solar activity for radio communications (ionosphere) and have been quite happy with a nearly completely quiet sun for the last few months. We happy to be in a solar minimum for the 11 year cycle. This solar flare came out of nowhere. Makes me wonder if there is space bullshit. Ill check the satellite imagery and verify if this is really or space bullshit and get back to you guys. Okay, I did a quick check and there was a 1.6 M solar flare on the 9th. It did come out of nowhere, very strange. The wavelengths emitted looked like iron, which is also extremely odd. Wonder if something flew into the sun or if it burned some iron internally. Anyhow, an M 1.6, however it was not a sustained flare that can result in a coronal ejection (plasma). This was not a coronal ejection which Is what causes geomagnetic disruption. They are bullshitting again.
This flare is not really that large... I believe it is rated as "M" class which is not even close to as powerful as what the "Carrington Event" is estimated to have been in the 2nd half of the 1800's . Some localized electrical issues may occur but anything larger than that will likely be some man-made issue.
As for the "Grand Solar Minimum" part of the discussion... I suggest you look at the videos about the cosmic disaster playlist and put on your thinking caps. We are entering a solar maximum period currently with the predictions being that when we get through this cycle we should enter the "GSM" which could last a couple of centuries.
Now the big scary issue we are not going to evade is that at some point this century it appears as the polarity of earth is preparing the flip. Our magnetic field has been decreasing in strength since the Carrington event and has accelerated slowly until the last decade or so.
