The left lost much credibility when they tried to categorize all critiques as being racist. That was bizarrely desperate and weaselly, and people saw through it. Congrats to this woman for noticing.

Everyone is an “essential worker” to himself and the people who may depend upon him.“

I also like that she used the proper pronouns for a hypothetical singular person.

Yes, I remember being taught that if the gender was unknown, in speaking or writing, that it should default to male pronouns.

Never until a few years ago have I seen the bizarre anti-grammar trend of replacing singular pronouns with plural versions.

using 'they' for an unknown gender is way more clear than 'he' imo. that's a natural evolution of grammar. screaming sexism when the older convention is used is where it becomes political.

More clear? It's confusing as hell when someone states a group of people (by using they) while my mind was thinking we were discussing a single person. It's been a few years now and it still throws me off when people (mainly young, school aged people) mix up the singular and plural.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– 289m 2 points 3 years ago +2 / -0

its not a mixup, its definitely a new standard. not a woke thing. the plural is applied because it refers to the multitude of possibilities. if the hypothetical could only be a male, then 'he' is used. 'they' allows for both possibilities, without implying a gender. Its much more conversational, which is why the singular usage of 'they' has been around for literally hundreds and hundreds of years.

We've come to the conclusion that the middle and upper levels of the unions are in a tight partnership with school administrators. They try to keep up the appearance that the union is protecting the workers, but clearly the orders (hush incentives) come down from the State Department of Education.

I was always taught that teachers were not allowed to force their opinions on student. Teachers are to encourage thought and let the student figure out for themselves.

You probably ask them a lot of questions and they find the truth because you asked the right questions.

I love how in modern clown world "awake" has become the opposite of "woke" :p

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 3 ▼
– inspoken [S] 3 points 3 years ago +3 / -0

Awake is a state of being. Everyone knows what it mean or implies. it is a noun used grammatically correct.

"Woke" is a verb in that arrogant new language that uses verbs for nouns. It has ambiguous meaning since it is grammatically incorrect

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– CQVFEFE 2 points 3 years ago +2 / -0

Close

Awake and woke (in modern usage) = both adjectives

Awake = aware of left-wing propaganda programming

Woke = unaware; brainwashed by left-wing propaganda

Woke can be a verb: She woke me (up) for wild sex.

Awake can't be a verb without adding -n: She likes to awaken me for wild sex.

The only way I see these as nouns is in adjectival "uncountable noun" constructions like "The woke can't get enough gay, racist left-wing propaganda; the awake are immune to it." Wheeee! Ain't grammar fun

Have a Great, Awakened day, anon!

My family has roots in Calif going back thousands of years. I can trace my ancestry back to when Father Serra first showed up in Calif, before that there is no written history of my ancestors but they were here.

Even with that long history, I am getting out of Calif next year. I've had it. I'm done.

And it doesn't hurt to have conversations at the family table about short term and long term goals.

Based on my own story, combined with others’ anecdotes like this one, I can find a couple of common ingredients that go into most awakenings:

  1. You are harmed directly by their policy, law, or practice (e.g. COVID lockdowns, which keeps you from going to work)

  2. You express some form of dissent against the practice that’s harming you (e.g. I need to make a living)

  3. You hear straw man arguments, name calling, divisive rhetoric or outright slander against people like you who are speaking out against the practice that’s harming you (e.g. everyone who wants to stop lockdowns is selfish, racist, and wants to kill grandma)

  4. You notice hypocrisy, or logic-defying exceptions to the rules (e.g. peaceful protests are ok, Nancy Pelosi can get her hair done)

  5. You are gaslit that the thing you are opposing didn’t actually happen (e.g. nobody was forced to vaccinate) or that the hypocrisy you witnessed is somehow justifiable (e.g. protests are a historic occasion for black people to fight racism, or Pelosi was assured the business was open safely; everyone wore a mask)

Ingredient #1 appears to be most necessary. #2 and #3 tend to occur together, as #4 and #5 occur together.

All five, sustained for a period of time, makes a big difference. When all five coincide with multiple subjects at the same time (e.g. lockdowns AND vaccines AND protestors burning down buildings) it’s a slam dunk.

But having experiences with only one or two of the above, for a short duration, is not necessarily enough (anecdotally, my boss who was very concerned about vaccine safety and how CNN was trying to stoke a war between vaccinated and unvaccinated - the topic was not sustained long enough, and my boss did not experience enough of the ingredients above to be effective).

It’s unfortunate to me that these ingredients are necessary, because human compassion and empathy for freedom and doing the right thing should be enough. For some of us, it is.

For some of us (myself included) we need a small taste of the above ingredients to awaken our inner compassion and empathy, and break us free of “the narrative”.

Sadly, for so many, they need to be personally and deeply affected, for a sustained period of time, on multiple issues, before awakening.

Sometimes the difficulty is getting them to see the connection between their complaint and Democrat policy. The corporate media has a way of presenting things as “something that just happened” or “the way things are”. I was listening to a podcast where the three hosts pre-Covid were saying they were exhausted by the division in the media and were tuning out of it, but they still blamed Trump for creating that division. So they are normal enough to see what we see, but they haven’t made that paradigm shift and are still trapped within the beast that is poisoning them. They know they are being poisoned, but they don’t know why, or by who. Covid was like this too. People on the left even today do not realize that the entire Covid situation was run like a marketing campaign by corporations. They think it was a real pandemic and at most, maybe a few policies went too far. So they remain hooked on the corporate poison and don’t even know it.

Back in 2016 many of us started to wake up because of the obvious inconsistencies & counter intuitive explanations that never held water. Probably why Trump had that "unexpected" win. Our first "harm" was how some former friends discarded us. I guess those that came later needed a bigger jolt to wake up

Yes indeed! It was Bernie (2016) that woke me up. Everyone who was involved enough was completely aware of all the voter fraud Hillary was doing against Sanders. We were told he would bring it up at the convention but he never did. Nothing made sense after that. Submitting to an obvious thief isn't being a "nice guy" it's committing treason (if it's an election for the leader of a nation) As soon as they sent around some clip trying to compare Trump to Hitler I knew they were obviously projecting. They lost me. I don't see anyone going the other way either.

Brandon Straka’s YouTube page for the Walkaway campaign had hundreds of videos like this, by all kinds of different people, all liberals or former Democrats who had walked away. There was a Facebook page too. They were super interesting to watch, and often very emotional, as you could tell how each person had struggled to “come out” as disagreeing with the Democrats, and then across all these different types of people, from around the country, you had these amazing parallels in the stories, so each story made people feel less alone and less crazy/gaslit.

As far as I know they arrested Straka for standing outside on January 6th during the Eppsurrection. Facebook shut down the Walkaway page and I imagine YouTube did the same thing. Twitter probably censored the hashtag too. I think the idea was to conflate walking away from the Democrat Party with domestic terrorism so anyone who wanted to stop being a Democrat and tell others about it could be censored.

One thing I notice she never mentioned; "some of my friends on social media who lean right were saying all these warnings and I ignored them".

We all know why she didnt say that. She removed them as we have ALL been unfriended from our most liberal "friends" loves. So my question is, she clearly, without any of our type outside influence clearly saw all these issues which made her leave. That CONFIRMS my position that all still on the left are CHOOSING a new government willingly and are thus to be treated as enemies.

When I worked for Thomson Reuters (during the time of European Refugee crises, in this instance the London refugee crises), Reuters news kept pushing that the city was safe and that there was no problems happening.... internally though we halted all travel to London due to "significant" safety concerns due to unrest.

So few people internally at TR put 1 and 1 together.

I feel we would react the same to someone who announced they'd "seen through the lies of Q" and decided to flip sides, abandon the movement and get aboard the Fraud And Racism Train (FART)—where elections are always decided by widespread, systemic fraud; where anyone and anything is racist if one person says so; where faith is scorned; where outright denial of all science (meteorological, genetic, medical, biological, immunological, epidemiological, virological, etc.) is an absolute requirement; and democrat politicians are praised and glorified for each new act of horrific, conscience-shocking treason.

We tend not to use ad hominem or appeal to authority so I don’t think so. That is one of the reasons why people walk away in the first place: ad hominem and appeal to authority don’t really work on us. Therefore we tend not to use them ourselves because we don’t think of them as persuasive.

There is a difference between being compassionate and wanting to feel compassionate. The liberals want to feel compassionate. They want to be perceived as nice. But being nice is not always compassionate. When a surgeon amputates a diseased limb its not nice but it is compassionate. Like this woman said liberals dont think, they feel.

You can't explain all the democrat progressive liberal nonsense without factoring in, that evil is real.

Knowing evil is real, then the opposite is very true, there is God, Jesus and goodness.

If you're concious of this the choice is clear, to walk with The Lord. Always.
