The jury is still out for me on MTG. However, there have been times when our Samsung TV will just spontaneously turn on after we’ve turned it off. We’ll be sleeping and all of a sudden it will turn on in the middle of the night. Perhaps everybody that has a smart TV should unplug it instead of just turning it off.
Amish survive without electricity, let alone t.v. Some do use cell phones to conduct business and I assume charge via battery, solar power or a generator.
You got it. Anyone who has a "smart TV" is truly stupid. Sooner or later someone will be locked out of their "smart" house for being accused of saying the n word. Oh wait, that already happened.
A smart TV is just a TV with built-in telescreen capabilities and the ability to phone home to Google.
An Apple TV bypasses Google and sends your information to Big Brother through Cupertino instead.
Edit: Downvoting me for this comment makes me laugh and also doesn't prevent your smart TV from dialing home as soon as it obtains an Internet connection.
There's no reason a smart lock needs to be connected to the internet. Certainly not to any central server owned by Amazon. There's also no reason to not always be able to manually bypass the electronic lock with your key.
It's not "muh smart bad REEEEEEE" it is simply the way the tech is being used that is currently bad.
To use AI as an example, something like ChatGPT would be unfathomably based if it was allowed to come to any conclusions based on the data provided. Instead, it is only able to produce propaganda and narrative-control nonsense. That isn't a problem with AI, it's a problem with the people who created that particular AI.
I remember a while back there was an AI that concluded black people were the most racist on social media. They promptly deleted it, claimed they were all subconsciously racist as the designers and accidentally programmed bias into the AI, and then probably got to work making sure the AI was only capable of calling whitey racist in the future.
Edit: To add a bit about smart TVs to more directly rebut your stupid claim based solely on ignorance of technology rather than knowledge and understanding of it and the actual dangers it poses (which are many): My TV being smart allows me to easily play local media from my PC on the TV, without needing to put it all on a drive and plug it into the TV, or have the TV in the same room. I can simply stream my own media that I acquired very legitimately (heh) to my TV. This works without internet and completely locally. The TV only needs access to the local network, but could be completely offline if I so wished. A dumb TV could not do this, because it is as dumb as your comment and only accepts simple inputs while producing simple outputs.
😂 coupla alternatives to giving yourself mercury poisoning:
take the tv apart, find the model of the screen and head over to ebay to find an appropriate controller board and power controller. follow some simple online instructions, and you're all set up
just get a monitor and a halfway-decent stereo with auxillary input/a soundbar
get a projector and a screen (still recommend a stereo/soundbar here, as most of the off the shelf projectors have shit-tier speakers in them)
Perhaps that’s why they practically give away smart TV’s and cell phones nowadays. You can get a 60” 4K smart TV for what, like $400? And you can get a smart phone free. Nothing real in life is cheap or free!
Sometimes this is the nature of electrical objects.
There are times when my PC has done this. It's ultimately (likely) a power supply issue, or a "feature".
They also don't need "smart" anything to track you, as we have had instances of their information gathering capabilities in older TVs too.
People saying "don't get a smart TV" are also not living in 2023, as you just won't be able to anymore. Some people also care about their viewing experience.
"Smart" TVs are the only TVs being manufactured now. You can't reverse the tide, but you can stem the flow by putting protections in place both physically and legally.
Also reminder: Even old school flip phones could listen in on you. Didn't require a smart phone for that.
Came here to say that if the stupid TV has bluetooth discovery on 1) she should have turned it off a long time ago and 2) anyone can "try" to connect to it which will likely turn the tube on. This is a nothing burger
Ok this is eerie. EXACT same thing happened to me last night. I had no idea what was going on at the time just that a notice came up saying a device was trying to connect to our tv and giving me an option to deny or allow. It happened two times just minutes apart. After that some of our channels/Roku apps were wonky and blacked out. WTF?! (Our TV was already on so we didn't have the issue of the tv turning itself on.)
Or perhaps the neighbor was trying to connect to his Bluetooth speaker and accidentally clicked on her TV. MTG is starting to strike me as a woman who would believe this sort of shit. I'm red pilled as they come, but not everything is part of the plan or an assassination attempt.
I don't follow the latest in smart TVs but in a hotel environment it's not a stretch to think you're gonna be on common WIFI networks and the TVs will be connected to the networks to serve up ads/crapola or allow for people to hook up their laptops & streaming devices. And of course the hotel passwords and IT infrastructure will be of low level security.
You see people pranking each other all the time with insecure blue tooth headsets and chromecasts and such.
"Smart Devices" laws need to be drawn up and passed ASAP. And companies who produce analog / "dumb" alternatives must not be unlawfully put out of business!
She's not lying, but I do believe she's likely blowing this out of proportion. The reality is that her personal network security is probably extremely lacking, as most non-tech savvy people's are. It's more likely to be the nerdy middle-schooler next door who downloaded Kali Linux and started playing with it than a hacker targeting her specifically. And if it is someone targeting her, it's more likely to be some random dude parked on the street who may end up making her TV tune to CNN or something than a deep state attack or something.
Meh, she’s always been all talk. My breaking point was when she backtracked on releasing J6 footage. Just another rino
There might be reasons for her doing that we aren't privy to, I don't think that makes her a rino.
That's the same rationale that is always given when someone likes someone else.
There has to be a point where it's not acceptable to do that.
It’s a movie. White hats have to keep certain things going in order to keep the enemy distracted.
She sure as hell is playing the role of MAGA RINO
Yep, Full of hot air
All Rs are Rinos if you squint enough

9 years without an electric ✡️ in the house
December 31, 2010 for me.
Missed it for less than a week. Discovered I had much and more to do around the house.
Moved into this house in December 2015. Never got cable hooked up. Or even basic television for that matter. Don't even miss it.

Smart tv is just a tv that has more functions than just watching cable/outputs.
Smart TVs are data-collecting machines, new study shows
https://www.theverge.com/2019/10/11/20908128/smart-tv-surveillence-data-collection-home-roku-amazon-fire-princeton-study
Meanwhile, conspiracy theorists like me were warning about this since their debut...
Only way I know to stop it is to use the smart TV as a dumb terminal and set up a Linux box as your Home Theater PC.

Another day, another comment attacking the tool.

just get a commodore 64 and do a little research.
have a Smart home, eighties style😎
This… Smart TVs are everywhere… Make Sure you have one Without A Camera..
We were at War with Xbox. Microsoft- when they tried to force a Camera on Every System.. ( They backed off it, and lost to PS.. years ago.
😂 coupla alternatives to giving yourself mercury poisoning:
Done w/cable in 2006. No subscriptions...just watch DVD collections when we use the TV (infrequently) b/c GA is more entertaining and informative.
...turn off the router at nite, it's the true culprit
Thanks for the suggestion fren! Will do.
It is also possibly healthier for you as well.
Serious question...how does this help, being off when not viewing? Asking for my low tech/non-tech savvy friend ;=)
Samsung TVs have motion detectors.
Perhaps that’s why they practically give away smart TV’s and cell phones nowadays. You can get a 60” 4K smart TV for what, like $400? And you can get a smart phone free. Nothing real in life is cheap or free!
That's just capitalism (or whatever is left of capitalism that's just hanging on) doing what it does best; making products better and cheaper.
But I'm sure the cabal would love for us to believe that everything must be expensive to be good.
Good point.

none of them do not even Rand. Only Trump
She didn't think to record it. I am a sceptic.
could have been over before she had a chamce to pull out her phone.
She's crying victim because they are trying to kick her out of the Freedom Caucus.
She should have added to the list that her car is in good working condition and she has no interest in flying, trains, or submersibles.
No doubt they're already spying on her anyway in some fashion.
This smacks of attention whore, frankly. Over the top much?
pics or it didn't happen?
The "I didn't kill myself" defence.
An info-war maneuver
Grifters need that spotlight every once and awhile
I think she "swatted" herself.
That's a bit silly.
How was that someone trying to connect to the TV?
Over wifi? Then your wifi is compromised, maybe your password shouldn't be 'password'.
Over bluetooth? A couple of issues there. One, bluetooth is short range. Two, turn the damn thing off, it's useless anyway. Use wires for audio.
I suspect Climate Change. Or maybe Putin.
You forgot racism.

Sounds like she needs an autist. You know, one of us that can pinpoint the exact sob who is trying to get in. It’s not that hard!
Well, if she needs an autist she should get the autist hard first.
Smart T.V. It would not surprise me if chips listen in and visually spy.
Does this chick not have a phone?
R E C O R D !
Drama queen.
She needs constant attention by whatever means possible.
She went off the rails with this one for sure ! Will see if anything comes up.
Like a teenage girl!

Stop fucking crying. We all know you are a RINO. Pretending you are a target won't change the fact that you and McCarthy are both compromised.
I've connected to my neighbors tv without realizing. I'd assume it would show something like this on his end
Biden impeachment https://www.congress.gov/117/bills/hres57/BILLS-117hres57ih.xml

Someone was just trying to cast and picked the wrong TV
Yeah she's kinda dumb with this tweet.
I'd feel better about her if she hasn't sold out to back McCarthy like she has.
There is a lot of people spooked about the prospects of being suicide, lately.. make one wonder if a "suicide weekend" approaches.
God Bless you, courageous woman, and keep you safe!!
Eh, I can attempt to connect to someone's TV too. This isn't a big deal lol.

Pretty sure she is controlled opposition... she used to say the right stuff, now she seems like a sell out... since the shilling for McCarthy
