The volcanoes are already putting out tons of gasses so the burning plastics wouldn't make much of a difference. The temperatures are hot enough to melt rock so plastic doesn't stand a chance. There are locations all over the world that could be used.

They live right on top of the mid Atlantic ridge. This type of eruption is common and the reason Iceland exists at all. But they are well prepared. I will pray for the peoples well being but these events are inevitable when you live there.
