No good news again. She slept all day yesterday. A friend of mine she hasnt seen in a while came by,she got up and was happy to see him. But she didnt eat or drink all day.
The rancid breath wasnt as bad as it has been. Usually you could smell it across the room. It smelled worse than when the septic truck pumps out your septic tank. The smel is more like a lingering fart with maybe some fish mixed in.
Its looking like today will be a repeat of yesterday. She still hasnt got out of bed this morning.i think another day or 2 of this and im gonna have to end it for her. As much as i wanted this stuff to work,i cant make her suffer. Maybe if i started this a month ago,it wouldve had a chance.
Thanks for the update, Fren. Don’t give up: Our Lord made dogs, man’s best friend because He loves them too!🙏🏻
Im trying not to give up but its not look8ng good. I cant make the poor thing suffer cuz im too selfish to let her go.
What these frens said and add some zinc to the fluids. Get a large syringe and give the dog fluids about three times a day. About three syringes full each time. You may want to include some chicken or beef broth.
Did a pro make a diagnostic?
My vet
So this is the appropriate way to handle its parasites. Ensure the dose is adequate, check if overdosing a bit is dangerous and how.🙏🏻
Ive discussed it with him. Im doing 250mg fenben daily. My vet said its perfectly fine and i could go higher if i wanted too.
Give your current dose a week to change the situation, on Friday, decide whether to increase the dose or keep up with it. I pray the good doggie gets better.🙏🏻
Could it be that the fenben is working and her body is fighting off the cancer that is making her so lethargic? Maybe her body is saving its strength to fight it off. Is she acting any differently besides her sleeping a lot? Is she whining like she's in pain? As others here have suggested, maybe use a syringe (like you'd use giving a child liquid meds) to slowly feed her some broth and mix her meds in the first syringe full, so that way she is getting her meds before she says she doesn't want anymore.
Good luck fren, I'm praying your furbaby pulls through this! Wish I had known about fenben years ago when our dane had bone cancer, you bet I would have tried it. Whether you let her go soon or keep her going a little longer to give her & meds time to fight it off... we all understand what stress and heartache you & your wife are going through and will be here for you. Talk to your furbaby, tell her she's a good girl, that you see her fighting and will understand if she is ready to go... she will tell you if/when the time comes.
One reason for that stench is a nasty abscess situation , you need Flagyl for her, it is specific for anaerobic protazoa abscesses. Reduces swelling and pain. Please demand it from your vet today. Believe me. It is urgent and important. I posted that to you yesterday, fren
I agree. The stench is from an infection in her gums.
No ots the stomach. My dog just died from this in January. I thought teeth too. But it wasnt that at all teeth m gums were perfect.
And if there is an abscess, it should be drained if possible. Fenben can attack the root cause of the abscess, but if there's still trapped fluid containing bacteria and other nastiness, it will exhaust her immune system amd cause other symptoms.
Agreed!
Hug her, tell her you thank her for the fight. But if she is ready to go that you understand and will see her soon. "I stand guard for you now, you have been my faithful friend."
Thank you for continuing to update even if it's not ideal news. That is how science should work.
Thats how science did work until 2019.
Bless your heart fren. You have a much higher assessment of pre-2019 science than I would ever have guessed. 🤣
I was just thinking... my dog had rancid breath--turned out one of his teeth was infected near the back of his mouth. He wan't able to eat very efficiently. Vet said it nearly fell out when he examined it. Then breath was fine and he ate normally.
Just wondering if that could be a parallel thing.
One more reason why Flagyl could help asap. If vet dies not use it for stinking abscess they are stupid
Ive had 3 teeth pulled so far. The problem is theres a spot where her bone is showing and its not healing over.
mix oregano oil and coconut oil together and apply it to the wound. It kills 100% of infection. Topically.
The othet issue is she cant opennher mouth far. I dont want to hurt her by prying her mouth open.
Put the oils on a Q-tip
Sometimes the last and greatest act of love we can show them is giving them the opportunity to go out peacefully. It’s tough fren and I can tell you love your dog. Only you know when it’s time. I believe we see them again if you’re a believer. My prayers are with you
I have been following your story and am so sad to read this. The kids dropped the dog off yesterday for us to watch for a few days. She has really slowed down and her coat is getting lighter. I don't know how my son and grandkids will get over the inevitable. Their saying goodbye for just a couple of days was long and drawn out.
Would she like frozen beef or chicken broth cubes? It may perk her up a bit.
My understanding is that it takes more than a few days for fenben to kick in. In the case of humans, some have reported that it can take months.
Maybe try some really strong antibiotics?
Cant get nothing into her if shes not eating or drinking.
Yes, you can. Dissolve the fenben in a small amount of water, and give it to your dog orally, with a syringe (no, not a needle, just the syringe). That's how we dose our czts.
You can use a feeding syringe to give all meds.
Many antibiotics can be injected rather than given orally. Have your vet inject her with a dose of powerful antibiotics and see what happens. One injection can last a week or two depending on the type of antibiotic.
I am sorry about your dog. My dog is nearing her end with failing hind legs. Her brother died about a year ago from the same thing. Legs locked up and couldn't walk. I know how you feel and it really sucks.
That’s what happened to my pit. His back legs quit working. I carried him with a sling all summer to get him out to potty. He passed Sept.17th of last year.
I wish she had that problem. She hasnt even hit retired old dog stage yet. Other than this, shes perfectly healthy. Up untill this week, she was still running around like a puppy and eating like the pig she is.
First, I feel your pain acutely. Sorry it is so hard.
Second, when cells die off (the ones that are cancerous are undoubtedly), the body needs to absorb and process those senescent cells through autophagy. It may be why the dog isn't desiring food.
Third, I have had success with offering the water from a can of tuna. You may have to put a little on your finger and on the dog's tongue to stimulate. If she shows interest, add the fenben and some CBD drops if you have them.
Best of luck, fren, I have been where you are more times than I can count and each time it is incredibly painful.
Great idea
Well, she ate her breakfast when my wife got home from work. I guess she went wild looking for meatballs,my wife brings her home meatballs from work on mondays. She said " i have no meatballs for you and she snorted at her then went and ate her food.
If you need to tempt her to eat again, rotisserie chicken (no skin) worked really well for our old guy.
I was thinking about getting a couple for her but i dont know what kinds of spices and stuff they put on them. Ill have to look into it.
I think I responded to you in another tread.
I had my cat on this for a year. In January he stopped pooping, reduced eating. He was at a similar spot. I miss my Beastie Buddy. Best wishes.
So sorry to hear the news. I pray you both find peace.
I know what you mean. I agree. I believe in miracles though. You never know! Blessings to you and your pup.
my baby girls last day on earth was spent with me on the floor and her laying on my chest. She died that night naturally at 845. I was crying out to God to take her the last 5 minutes of her life. It was not easy. I couldn't put her down, I really suffered making that decision but decided after praying that God's way is the best way. I had seen the light leave her eyes about 2 hours before she passed, I could see that her eyes were looking past anything going on in the room. My heart is still broken and this happened in September.
Now when it comes time for my other dog, I am not sure if I can go through it again naturally or not. I do believe that she was at peace and had already left her body when it shut down. I pray for peace for your baby girl, you, and your family
Hope you are wrong. Keep up the protocol. I would not end it for her unless she's in extreme pain. A week of fenben + ivermectin is powerful medicine.
I'll agree with you in prayer on this.
i actually just procured some fenbendazole for my brain cancer. it's supposed to arrive tomorrow.
If she's not eating or drinking, she may be dehydrated. Can you take her to your vet to see about an iv hydration? It might be what she needs to get over this hump. Maybe not but I would try.
Subcutaneous fluids might help as well, and his vet can get him the supplies and show him how to do it at home.
That's very true, I've seen it done on the tv vet shows.
Treatment , if works will take weeks to notice consistent positive change… fendben, like ivermectin works on protecting healthy cells from being consumed by cancer cells… effectively starving the cancer cells to death… i would try to score some ivermectin if you can (horsepaste at the local tractor supply) and use both…
If she wont eat or drink,i cant get it into her. She cant open her mouth much,im not gonna take a chance on squirting stuff into her mouth.if she starts choking, she cant open her mouth to get it out.
If i started a m9nth ago when the lump was small and she could open her mouth to eat,it probably wouldve had a chance to start working. I probably waited to long to start.
When is the last time she had Ivermectin orally? When is the last time you have applied horsey paste topically to the lump? Just trying to understand
Get a feeding string at drug store. Pharmacy will give you for free. Gatorade 1/2 speed w water. You can add oatmeal blend it in blender or nutrition ninja and keep pup hydrated and w something in the belly. They throw up slime when tummy is empty. Not too much in tummyvas it makes them puke n tumor could rupture. I'm sorry. I went through this w Coppervlast month. I swear he was fine until I got him a rabies vax. In the end he couldnt lay down coilfnt sleep. I'm praying for you. I still cry through day n night when I think of him. He was my everything. All I had. God bless your pup and heal. 💜🐕🕊🐶💜
The fish smell means kidney failure. Its time. Im so sorry.
Did the medicine say how long it would take to begin working?
No
Put her on PNC-27
((Big hugs)) and prayers.
