Why is anything in this country in Spanish? Those that don't speak English are not supposed to be in this country as residents. Any real immigrant that can't speak English does not pass the test to become a citizen.
All these TV and radio stations, ads, government documents should only be in English. I shouldn't have to push a button for English when I make a phone call to some business or government office.
Hm. Indians should probably get theirs in their language - feather, not dot, ones. While they mostly need to be bilingual it's good to keep those languages alive, having people who can speak some minor not well known language can sometimes become useful so it should be encouraged. Remember the Navajo code talkers?
Oh yeah - we might need a number dedicated to some of those Cajuns down in Louisiana. Not because they can't understand or speak English, but because some of us can't understand a damn thing they say.
I agree with this 95%. The one part I don't agree with is: " Those that don't speak English are not supposed to be in this country as residents."
There are legal residents that aren't yet citizens. Some are working on their citizenship and some may only be here on a work visa or that TPS temp protected status thing. Theoretically there could be one or 2 that are true real asylum seekers. They would need govt documents in their language just like we would in the same situation.
That said - there should NEVER be any reason for ballots to be in anything other than English in the USA. I think that is why some blue cities let everyone vote in their local elections - to get people used to allowing everyone to vote. I also agree there should be no other languages for commercials on TV or Radio. If they want to do that, put them on Telemundo.
BTW - If everyone started pressing "0" if they say press 1 for English or 8 for Spanish and the companies were forced to have an operator answer they would stop that nonsense. When the operator answers tell them you don't like pressing a number to choose our official language and to make everyone else press a number for their non-official language.
I've lost count of the times this corrupt and evil administration has flagrantly dismissed our laws and Constitution. They hate us and only want to obey their dark masters.
Because 40% of inner city youth that attend public schools with the highest paid teachers can’t read or write at a 6th grade level. They need picture ballots with city speak to show how to vote for the person giving them the most free benefits. The rest of the ballots are for the 140 different languages spoken by illegals that promised they’d show up for their immigration hearings with an understanding of English.
We don't need to enshrine an amendment to say that our language is that which has been used as the primary language for 250 years, and 200 years before that.
I don't think it's part of "current federal law" that a prospective citizen must know the language. I certainly wouldn't amend our constitution to add the requirement. I haven't given it much thought, but on first blush I WOULD support a change of law to require it.
But we don't need some official statement to make it clear that our national language is the language that our country has been speaking since before it was a country.
I'm chill adding a law, but the absence of a law doesn't mean it's not either.
The decades we have had "press two for espanol" tells us how long they have been planning the invasion of our nation. It's always been part of their plan all along.
Yeah, and how the bleep did these people get on Medicaid/Medicare or both who can't speak English? This frosts my a** every time I see a mention of the patient needing translation services and almost everyone who can't speak English needs a translator. Guess what that does to the costs of our healthcare?
The "multi-lingual requirement" or whatever they call it is a deep and persistent grift going in in this country that to my eye easily knocks 3-4% of our productivity/profit off the bottom line. A 4% bump to productivity and/or profit would be a huge run up in our GDP, prospects and optimism.
I wanted to say something here because this is mis-leading.
The requirement that you need to know English to become a US Citizen gets waived after a legal resident has been here, legally working and paying taxes, for 10 years.
My ex-wifes parents are perfect examples. They are old. They came here in the early 90's legally. They've been working. Their kids know English (my ex) and she passed her citizenship test when she was younger. She signs for everything as far as legal paperwork goes.
Her parents do not speak very much English. I would help them practice for their citizenship test (in English) and after several years of failing the test, when they hit 10 years residency (all legal), they were allowed to have a translator at their citizenship test interview. They still had to pass the test, they were just allowed to answer in Chinese. I support this. Her parents are hard working (now retired) and they completely deserve their citizenship.
The ballots in other languages are for the legal US citizens who naturalized but don't speak the language, typically the older generation of legal immigrants.
They moved here in the 90's when they knew China was going to take over Hong Kong again. They had already fled China to Hong Kong when they wanted to have more children, so when Hong Kong was being passed back to the Chinese they bailed pretty quickly. It was either the US or Canada and at the time Canada required a large cash payment to accept them.

Soon...
Press 2 for English
Dark & underrated comment 👍
Already encountered that here in new somalia
“Por Español, oprima numero uno, for English press 2”
Aprende inglés, imbéciles, es la forma americana.
¿No puedes hacerlo?
¡Entonces sal!
Remain in Mexico.
It's a policy. But it's also a way of life!
¡Òrale!
Massachusetts Drivers License tests have been available in at least 35 different languages for many years. I'm NOT joking.

One of them recently died. RIP.
Oh yeah - we might need a number dedicated to some of those Cajuns down in Louisiana. Not because they can't understand or speak English, but because some of us can't understand a damn thing they say.
Lol. I LOVE our Cajun language 🥰.
Cher 😘
Haha I remember a comedian asking which kind, "teepee, or Slurpee?"
And the Dogon--the elders still can read the hylogrifs(sp) in egypt.
hieroglyph - you can tell it's a Greek word from the "ph".
(Greek hieroglyphos meant "a carver of hieroglyphics.")
A question as old as time itself.
The answer is they kept pushing forward with their agenda, and we kept giving in.

Go to Dearborn Michigan. There are parts of the city where businesses only have Arabic on them.
I've lost count of the times this corrupt and evil administration has flagrantly dismissed our laws and Constitution. They hate us and only want to obey their dark masters.
Keep praying.

Why is anything printed in foreign language in America?
I don't think this is true. We don't have an official language.
We don't need to enshrine an amendment to say that our language is that which has been used as the primary language for 250 years, and 200 years before that.

I'm just saying the meme says it's law, but it's not.
Same thing for CDL.

when the 'i voted' sticker is in spanish, they're trying to tell you something.

Get rid of it now. It does nothing but hurt us.
Great question.

Ronald Regan made an exception to that law and gave millions of people who didn't know English amnesty.
For the illegals who are voting illegally.
Hopefully & GOD willing this changes Wednesday morning moving forward forever.
Because the people they're letting vote aren't even citizens!
They eroded it. When I was a kid I would play soccer with lots of kids from Mexico. They all wanted to learn English and we all knew this.
It is that stupid thing someone came up with… take the higher road nonsense.
I would help them learn English and in the end they became better because they knew two law and could become interpreters and such.
These people want everyone to be brain dead and always the victim. I have been tired of it for at least 30 years now.
Puerto Rico...
Been saying this for years. Same with driving tests. Signs ain’t in any other language but English!!
I pointed that out on X and got comments like I'm a dumbass lol. Idiots
