The key to this research is enhancing the PDF images with OCR which makes the PDF's searchable. There are many tools online that will do this. Even better, after they're OCR'd, they're not only searchable while viewing the document, but you can put all the PDF's into one Windows folder and search them with Windows explorer. For example, while in the folder of PDF's, you can search Windows explorer with the keyword "Oswald," and Windows explorer will list every PDF mentioning "Oswald" along with some preview text.
Right now I'm searching for an OCR converter that will take batch uploads and is free or low cost.

Newly released JFK files tell a story about how Gary Underhill, who worked for the CIA, was found dead after he revealed to friends that the CIA was responsible for JFK’s assassination.
“The day after the assassination, Gary Underhill left Washington in a hurry. Late in the evening he showed up at the home of friends in New Jersey. He was very agitated.”

Here is my current fun strategy for digging through the archives--my thought was I will pick a random page number and click on a random PDF. I went to page 113, picked on the second link (https://www.archives.gov/files/research/jfk/releases/2025/0318/202-10001-10203.pdf) to this PDF. Interestingly, it is an unredacted file that was previously released with deletions in '98 regarding the Cuba Project from 1962.
I guess I will incorporate the Grok/AI tactic when I am mentally prepared to really get into the sauce, but I think clicking on random pages can also be fun.

Warren Commission Document CD-971 is a memo dated November 29, 1963, written by CIA Director Richard Helms to J. Lee Rankin, a Warren Commission attorney. It discusses anonymous calls received by the U.S. Embassy in Canberra, Australia.
One call, from October 15, 1962—over a year before JFK’s assassination—allegedly claimed that "Iron Curtain Countries" had placed a $100,000 bounty on President Kennedy’s head.
Another call, referenced in the memo, came from an individual identified as a Polish chauffeur for the Soviet Embassy in Canberra, who suggested after the assassination that the Soviet government might have financed it.
The CIA reportedly dismissed this caller as a "crank," and the information was not known to them until after Kennedy’s death.
The document’s sensitivity led to significant secrecy. In a letter dated October 15, 1968, Brigadier Charles Spry, head of the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO), urged CIA Director Richard Helms to keep CD-971 classified, a request that delayed its release.

I saw two or three requests denied for release of that one.
The files are posted, but seem to be unsearchable like the other years bundles are. So it is going to take someone with a LOT of time to go through them. It seems that they aren't even in chronological order; there are files from the 1950's scattered throughout. Tons of documents have NOTHING to do with the JFK assassination, as far as I can tell. I'm afraid this may be yet another nothingburger.

what kind of accountability comes from releasing these files? It seems like we live in the age of hype and information, but criminals and government cronies continue unabated because they know they are untouchable, and that there is no system in place that will actually send any of them to prison for many many years.
