It’s been a roller coaster of emotions not gonna lie lol. My company is shutting down operations at the end of the year so I have to find new employment. Probably going to leave the beer industry and try to join a union or something idk yet. I am forklift certified and in beer I work with pipes, chemicals and water all the time so I might look into plumbing or waste water. I don’t want to bar tend again but I can do that for a bit while I find something permanent.
Then yesterday we found out that my wife is pregnant. I am so excited and kinda scared all at once. Yesterday I was just on edge all day. Only way I can describe it is the final moments right before kickoff in football or the whistle blowing to start a wrestling match. I wrestled in high school and college and played football in high school. If you have done competitive sports you know what I am talking about. That feeling but all day.
Hit the gym and then killed the last beers in my fridge. Gonna go out with the guys at work one last time in December but other than that I am gonna be sober during my wife’s pregnancy.
Also since the Charlie Kirk assassination the fog of war has been very dense and sometimes I don’t know what to believe.
So it’s probably best if I step back anyways unless something huge happens.
I will be making a post for vaccine information in a couple of months cause my wife is not red pilled on it and that’s the thing that terrifies me the most. I don’t want that poison or any of these freak big pharma doctors and nurses near my child.
God bless and Christ is King.
#1. Trust in God. He will help you through this and will not burden you with more than you can handle. #2. Congratulations to you and your wife. May you be blessed with a heathy baby who will bring joy to your life.
In addition to all that, he needs to be wary of unions. They may look like they offer better pay and benefits, but those aren't free. The company is paying for them. Unions are basically communism lite. They can destroy the profit margins of a healthy company. I've noticed that whenever a work force unionizes, the company's stock takes a big hit. If individual people don't want to work for the offered wage, they can go somewhere else. Collectively, coming together to squeeze the company is what amounts to a shake down. Taking more money just because it is there. It's despicable and always leads to more socialism. I'd rather work for 1/2 of what I would make in a union if that means helping the company and making America stronger.
We went union because the company started stripping us of all our benefits and stopped raises for 5 years. Removed vacation time etc. People had enough. This was a huge global company making billions.
This might look like a good idea, but it destroys good companies. If you're not happy with what the company is offering you, just move to a different employer. "Collective bargaining" as it is called is just a shake down. Imagine if I didn't like what a restaurant was serving, so I got all the customers to stop coming until they changed their menu. That would be absurd, but that is what is happening when jobs unionize. If a job is bad enough, they will have trouble finding workers. Unions destroy the free market. If a company is making record profits, that is none of your concern. That isn't your money. Your money is the amount you agreed to when you started the job. I think part of the great awakening will be making unions completely illegal, and jailing union organizers. Only then can we have true free market capitalism. I can't believe how much love for unions there is around here, as if it isn't the very definition of socialism.
Sorry. Dont agree. Thanks for your reply.
Just an observation; both sides think the other is brainwashed.
I think i responded to the wrong person. It wasn't meant for you man.
I generally agree the vast majority of unions are a terrible thing & that it encourages despots to grab power at the top at some point, may e not initially, but it does at some point.
That said, there have been times historically where the unions were the only way to get business owners to ethically fulfill contracts. IIRC (it was a Glenn Beck episode that gave the history lesson) it was Rockefeller that fired employees months before they would obtain the house they were contractually given for working on the railroad. Fired simply so they didn't ge the house. Unions formed to force him to maintain those contracts IIRC.
Unfortunately, as with all centralized power, over time evil individuals get into those positions & then we get things like union dues paying for things that workers would never accept individually.
Ultimately I houve found Unions always end up destroying companies & organizations, though it seems often historically they did have a reason to be started due to some business owners who didn't want to fulfill their side of a contract. I don't know how how often that happens in the world today, but the mindset is still assumed to be there by pro union types from my experience.
Unions were never needed. Consumers can simply choose to work with other companies who treat their employees better. If that isn't happening, then the free market has determined that what those workers want are luxuries, not necessities. Instead of forming a union, these workers could have just decided to build their own railroads instead.
You will always find reasons for socialism, but at its heart, it is greed. If companies are making billions of dollars, that is none of the worker's concern. Unions are just a shake down to take what the company has produced. Workers agree to a pay rate and benefit, and if they don't like it, they can just quit.
I've yet to hear an example of a good company being destroyed by a Union, but otherwise I agree. By the time a Union appears, it's already gone south. It's how people argue for spoils at the bottom turn of the production cycle. There are no unions in financial services or anything AI.
Maytag
I would love to learn that history. I will need to dig, any chance you have additional information on why you believe this?
Saw some SEIU thugs protesting a position at a company once.
Funny thing was, I knew every single person in that position in the company that was at the location they were protesting, and you’ve never seen anyone in that position treated so well.
I’m not sure what got them to show up there. Highly doubt it was the company’s crew requesting it. Was just very weird, and very offensive. VERY. Either someone from that crew called them in spite of the great treatment (doubtful, but gross if true), or they were trying to agitate resentment (evil), or they were trying to create a scene to get more presence in the area - like a marketing campaign (probably most likely, still gross). Maybe some other reason just as shifty or moreso.
Evil bastards.
We meet again my free market fren.
That won’t be necessary if we get rid of the state agency and regulations that give special privileges to unions. The National Labor Relations Board forces by law companies to negotiate with only the politically connected union. Without that immoral law, collective bargaining would just be a temporarily inconvenient negotiating gimmick. If all the employees wanted to walk out or go on strike, and if the company wasn’t forced by the state to comply with those employees’ demands, then the company would just be inconvenienced by the length of time to recruit replacement employees. If the company can’t entice replacement employees, then maybe the original employees had a good point and the company should compromise with them.
Clearly, collective bargaining benefits under-performers and gets high achievers lumped in with the mediocre. If not for the NLRB forcing the company to make a deal with the union, high achievers would avoid the union to avoid being dragged down.
I saw an American union get a 150-person office closed down by the corporate board in Singapore out of frustration.
Yeah I am looking at union and non union. I have connections in electric and plumbing.
I've been worried like this before. I often thought that surely this is the end of good fortune. Man was I ever wrong. The truth is that God LOVES his children. Especially the ones who try honestly. God bless and comfort you on this journey. And Congratulations. Having children was the smartest thing I ever did.
I am so happy but also just anxious as hell. I am doing better then yesterday but I was a wreck yesterday until I got to the gym.
I don't know your college background, but many schools are struggling to have enough Teachers Aids and Behavior Assistants on hand.
As these poor poisoned kids with undiagnosed ADHD or autism try to sit still for 7 hours while being indoctrinated. They need extra support to stay focused and make good choices.
The certification program is usually less than a week long (varies per state) and the pay isn't great but if you need good healthcare for your little bundle of joy (Congratulations!), 401k and lots of time off, check it out.
God Bless!
u/pnwhomebrewer I was suprised to hear a local teacher at a charter school didn't have a degree, but did have work experience. They just needed to complete a teacher certification in 12 months (maybe 18) from the date of hire in Utah.
The school valued real world experience over someone who had studied at university.
YES, the gym is your friend. My son says it's a huge stress reliever for him. Congratulations to your and your wife. Jesus has your family in His Provident Hands. Consciously express your confidence in Him, and watch how He will work in your life. He values your act of trustful surrender.
You've got a good foundation work wise. Congrats on fatherhood. Enjoy that ride. All glory belongs to God. Stay focused on Him and stay sensitive to the Spirit guiding you. Lord bless you and keep you.
May God Bless and guide both you and your wife to the correct information on vaccines for children It is so scary out there. I know you will find a new job, perhaps better than the one you have now. Good Luck in your endeavors.
Fren, you have Christ so you've got everything you need. You've also got marketable skills, so you should be able to find another job fairly easily. I wish you the best. And congrats on the new little bugger. Is this your first child? Just make sure your current insurance will cover your wife through her pregnancy. Get all your ducks in a row on that. You're going to be fine. Come back and see us when the little one arrives, if not sooner. God bless.
It is my first one. My wife had an inkling because one of our golden retrievers was snuggling here way more than normal and was just following her around. So she took a test in the morning and a test a couple hours later. Both positive
Aww, the first! Excellent. What a great blessing. I know it's a bit scary, being the man and losing your job at the same time you've gotten such great news (and how cute is your golden retriever for sensing the baby!) but you'll be fine. I know you will, because your best friend will make sure you get through. I'm not saying there won't be scary or tough moments, but overall, you'll be fine. It's obvious you take your role as husband and father seriously, so you're serious and you'll find something. Lean on Jesus and He'll see you through. All the best.
Sorry to hear this news, but stay confident. You'll find new employment soon.
Former college athlete here as well (baseball), and understand the emotions and adrenaline involved right now. You got this. If nothing else, sports have trained us to battle thru adversity.
Congrats on the pregnancy! Wishing you and your family the best.
Thanks and yeah before wrestling and jiu jitsu matches I would just pace around the mat. I was doing that at work all day lol just pacing back and forth. Was never so relieved to get into the gym and do high volume low weight lifts to just get the edge off.
Sounds like you handled your stress well. I have no doubts you will come out on top.
Sometimes God presents us with what seems like huge challenges to overcome in order that we grow. Sometimes those challenges lead us to places where we would have never gone on our own without the nudge. I have had many of those experiences. It seemed chaotic and anxiety filled for the moment, but in the end it was a huge blessing when looking back in retrospect.
Take the time you need and stay focused fren. We will be here when you return. God bless you going forward and much congratulations on your new Patriot addition to the family.
As I was reading your post, I am feeling you are going to have a son.
This will turn your life around, you will not only be sober, but will go on a fitness regimen and become a stunning example to your little boy.
Your occupation will change, but you will thrive and it will end up being a very good thing in the end!
From one who's been there, savor these days. Good luck!
Either that or a daughter.
There are only 2 choices 🤣🤣 so yes ..but I have a feeling it will be a boy
Hold Up.
Wait a second.
Are you a biologist?
More than Ketanji Jackson ever was ..Kek
Justice Jemima, as I like to call her
KEK. Love it
Praying for you both and your newe blessing to the family. Remember when God closes a door , He opens a window! ☝️🙏🤍
Awe, congratulations!!
Definitely keep the needles out of your kid. In a couple of years you can reevaluate.
Rule one: it is easier to budget something than nothing.
Rule two: find something with built in health care or at least heavily subsidized for your wife and child. That may mean some sort of government related job.
Rule three: have something while you look for better. And use your family, friends, work and church network.
During Obama, senior engineer jobs dried up. So when my company sold off the contract that I worked so hard to win, I literally drove a school bus for a while to pay the bills.
Also, there are job boards like linked in, etc. that allow you to search, but also have companies searching for the right worker.
And as Trump deports the illegal 18 wheeler truck drivers, a demand for citizen drivers will occur. Pretty good pay. ICE is offering a $50K signing bonus. You sound like you would make the cut.
God bless you fren. I will pray for you, your wife, and your new family. Keep your focus where it should be.
Good pensions healthcare and benefits are in gov jobs. If you understand water, wastewater stormwater and management, you should apply immediately at your county. That's not a job you'll get right away, until after a process. All cities have the same issue of the long workers retiring. All the knowledge going with them.
Our country has serious material and labor issues. If it was done right it will fall apart anyway.
You are a gem! And you want to work. Apply at your county utilities dept!!
Citizens who pay taxes need people like you and need them working!! ♥️🙏
Congrats on the baby! Eyes on God, it will all work out.
Congrats on the pregnancy!!! Please dont go!! I enjoy you here, but it makes sense. As far as beer goes, I used to work in hops and wine grapes in the Yakima valley, farming is truly rewarding work. On the spiritual level. I've never experienced anything like it, And it continues to be part of my identity. I haven't farmed in over 2 years but I still call myself a farmer. Im very proud of the time I put it and it follows me everywhere in the form of a huge spread of practical skills. Cheers bud
I would love to be a farmer but cost of entry is insane. I kinda don’t care what I do for work as long as it has benefits and my boss isn’t a Karen. I just want to live in the country.
That sucks. I've been in a very similar situation before my daughter was born. Keep your head down and just show up everyday to make things happen. It will work out, usually better than it was. Best of luck to you and family.
I wasnt a farm owner, just farm management. Zero startup costs kek
You can do small scale farming. Not everyone does stuff that requires million dollar combines/tractors/etc...
Look into things like microgreens and gourmet type items for high end restaurants if you're close enough to market to them. Even things like flower farming can make crazy money, especially for the amount of money it takes getting into it. Farmers market stuff, especially "heirloom" varieties do very well. Having varieties that are interesting, like white or red or purple carrots, blue potatoes, yellow tomatoes, etc... can really bring in good money. Even selling honey can be a good side line for income (and it will make sure your gardens are well pollinated).
Check out things like Urban Homestead or Suburban Homestead. It's amazing how much you can produce in small plots of land, doing things like square foot gardening or vertical gardening.
Source of knowledge for the above: My dad's family have been farmers in MS since the late 1700s. Everything from cotton to soybeans to dairies to sunflowers to pretty much anything else. Some of them have those million dollar combines and thousands of acres of land and some of them have an acre or two of heirloom veggies and micro greens. And that's the only thing anyone talks about at holidays and family dinners. Who is growing what, where, and for how much.
Whatever you end up doing, I wish you the very best of luck and a happy and healthy family.
The government offers a lot of incentives and help to start a farm.
Since you seem to be very active and into the gym life, you could look into possibly being a firefighter as well.
Just some unsolicited advice: Focus your attention on your intention and everything will work out.
If you want to move to southern Louisiana, I have high up contacts in the now largest sewerage company in USA. You might need to get a CDL tho.
You're next job will be way better.... God knows what you need
Congratulations on your exciting news. I pray God will bless you with a new job, a healthy baby and guide you and your family to where he needs you to be for this new chapter in your life.
Congratulations!!!
I was laid off during COVID and ended up finding a much better job. Best thing that happened to me career wise. I wish you the best of luck! ❤️
100% THIS!!! You're scared because you realize how awesome and grand a responsibility it is which means you'll be great parents!! And God often takes these teachable moments to make a major impact in our walk with HIm.
Yes absolutely yes.
It’s truly a full circle experience as you parent you become more able to experience God’s patenting.
Hay, homebrewer. Godspeed, and take the blessings of GAW frogs with you. We're here when you decide to get back.
Love your family. They are the cornerstone of God's kingdom on Earth.
Sounds like levelling-up is in your future.
Hang in there, brother. The times I've gotten laid off have lead to great opportunites that i wouldnt have had otherwise.
I'm a machinist. The first time I got laid off was 6 months after my wedding and a month after my wife told me she was pregnant with our first kid. I decided to go back to school part time and get an engineering degree. I got hired at an aerospace company doing tool and die work. it was a huge step up from production runs for the oil field. Worked that for 2 years then we got hit with a layoff too a month after our second kid was born, right before the holidays. I was feeling down about it but we had enough money saved up so I decided to go to school full time for a semester and get a part time job. I ended up getting an internship at NASA. After that ended I was able to get work doing exactly what I'll be doing when I finish my degree. The pay isnt quite there yet but by the time I finish my degree I'll have two years in role and if I dont get a raise, it shouldnt be too hard for me to find better remuneration with all my experience now.
Christ is King and not a sparrow falls
It's a double blessing. When one door closes, another opens. Enjoy the opportunity and the ride. You've got this!
This is a blessing in disguise. God is putting you where you’re supposed to be to be able to take care of your child. Trust in his plan for you fren. God bless you and your wife, congratulations!
Trust in God brother and be thankful for the blessing of a child. You got this, no doubt about it! And the vaccine battle can be won, my wife fully agreed to keep our daughter all-organic, and her mom works for the hospital and tried all kinds of pressure. Stay strong, stay true, and stay committed to each other and you will weather this storm, fren. Prayers for your family!
Gonna miss you. One of the few younger pedes that were willing to talk about how hard things still are for us economically and with H1Bs still running rampant. What you pointed out about Vance and his ties to Indian migration and American talent replacement are still correct and not heard enough by people here.
Bless you on your next phase.
In the last couple of months I have also experienced the old pre-game jitters feeling sometimes because of work or personal situations. It feels edgy at the time, but it’s better than feeling despair. It means your head is in the game.
God continues to bless you. You’ll get a good job soon and those concerns will seem trivial beside the great joy from your baby. Congrats brother
The United States Postal Service is always hiring folks. Many different types of careers available within the USPS, too. Sounds like if you enjoy driving a forklift then being a mail handler might be something you could look into. You'd need to be near a mail processing facility and might have to work an over night shift. But the pay is good... around $25 starting out. Clerks and carriers all have openings. If you are young enough it could turn into a great career. Being a small town postmaster is the greatest job.
Congrats and I’m hoping for a great new career for you. As far as the vax question, you and your wife should watch the new documentary by Del Bigtree called “An Inconvenient Study”. It’s on the Highwire channel on Rumble. It runs about 1.5 hours. Everyone should watch it, really.
YESSSSS Watch it! With your wife!!! So wish I knew these things when my son was little. He's 29 now so he missed a lot of the new shots they're pushing but he wouldn't have gotten any if I knew then what I know now. He's really smart and gifted but struggles mightily with ADHD even still. I KNOW that is a product of all the crap that was injected into him in those early years. And I thought I was being such a responsible mom with his vaccine schedule all checked off :'(
This.
My kids are 14 and 16. I fully regret vaccinating them. My daughter was so quiet in the hospital. She was my first. The day we were discharged they gave her the first vaccines and it completely rewired her brain. She went from calm to screaming all the time when she was awake. She went from sleeping to screaming in a moments notice. She could not tolerate diaper changes, we wore noise cancelling earphones. We didn’t know it was abnormal. Please. Do not vaccinate. We were pro vaccination and now we are not.
Also, we dealt with many years of neurodivergent behavior. Many years of therapy. We never medicated. But also never got a diagnosis until she was 9. Moderate ADHD. All due to the shots, I am convinced. My son, also fully vaxxed, is nothing like her and I would not have known anything was wrong the first time around if we did not have our son who was so completely chill as a baby.
Praying
The first kid I gave up drinking so I could support my wife. But every day I was having coffee and that drove her nuts because pregnant arent supposed to have it - so every morning she would get the craving and it was kinda cruel.
So the second kid I gave up coffee since it was an every day thing and I only drink once or twice a week (and not like when I was younger and actually 'drinking' it's just a few now days) so I gave up the coffee and not the booze, and to be honest it was a better combo.
Good Luck. Kid's are awesome and don't worry they start you out slow, new babies basically jsut sleep all the time
Praying for you brother; as you know trust in Him and he will provide. My wife is also pregnant; I will pray for you; its the best thing that can happen to you in this world.
Think its awesome you are going sober; truly find it hard to be a father when my focus is on booze. I'm about a year sober; you may just decide to give it up for good once you welcome your little one into the world.
As for you job; remember this world fades away. God will provide; more importantly your first ministry is to your family. Do everything you can for your wife as she will need your more and more as you get closer to that big day. Such a wonderful blessing you are going to experience; enjoy the ride
Plumbing sounds like a good idea. Make a plan and take each day as it comes. Many of us have been in similar situations. Having genuine hands-on job skills is what always pays off.
Hope you get an even better job fren.
Stop back in when things settle down.
