Trump knows his followers don't worship him. He is someone we follow, but he is not God. That is why he can say one thing and trust us not to blindly follow.

Nobody that I know actually follows Trump just because he is Trump. There is no cult. Instead, we are anti deep state. We respect Trump because he is fighting for our values and beliefs.
Anyone case see this if they look. When Trump deviates from our values, we don't follow him. Instead, we try and come up with reasons why he may have publicly gone against what we believe to be true. We always try and make sure he matches OUR values. We don't align to his.
We have a value system that is completely antagonistic towards the deep state. That is why they are scared. They want to believe we are guided by Trump because they could possibly eliminate that. But they can never destroy our values.
