I apologize if I was snotty with my comment. Our children always come first in our lives, and we should use whatever programs are available to us for that purpose. My issue is I know people on "assistance" and they admit they know how to work the "system". That then makes me angry. My feeling is that help is for families and people who are needing help and services, but not for others who just take advantage of it.

Simple rules:
Never go unless it's a last resort.
Never take any meds without first seeing the side affects/what's in them/etc. I probably only take about a 1/5 of the stuff they tell me to and maybe two to three times a year take one OTC med for headache.
If the visit is less than 5 minutes, ending in a prescription, they probably have zero clue as to what's actually wrong with you.

Classic case of recency bias, most people don’t get the flu each year, the only reason why it may seem like people who get the flu shot get sick is because they are ones most surprised they got sick. The flu shot is a fine and well researched vaccine, no one says you have to get it.
While it may be fine and safe, if you look at the data from the last 15 years, it's averaged 40% effectiveness. Again that's the average which means some years it's only been 10% effective. It's pretty useless. Compound that with then needing to take it every year and the possible side effects if you read the insert, the risks far outweigh the small chance of reward.
It’s your choice. If it’s 10% effective some years that means it 80% effective others. If it can help limit the possibility of developing pneumonia in older and immuno-compromised individuals, I think any risk factor reduction is helpful.
A healthy person with a healthy immune system shouldn't need a man-made shot with who knows what's in it to avoid the flu IMHO. The body is a perfectly designed machine that heals itself if given the chance. Never had a flu shot, never had the flu. Getting colds now only since I've been wearing the fauxvid required mask at work. What's my secret(and I'm nearing 60), never take medicine! Maybe an aspirin occasionally for a headache. Not perfect, but seems to be working for me!

What caught my eye was this "those 65 and older are eligible to receive a high dose(HD) vaccine while supplies last". If the high dose vaccine is not available, the standard dose will be given." Weird that it's called the high dose + HD in parentheses. HD as in high definition or highly deadly, I take that to mean these are the ones that are mixed with the covid poison. Sickos.
When I was turning 65 my doc told me not to get the "free" shot from work ( I was a teacher), because there was a HD vaccine for those over 65. So there is some truth in that there is a difference between the "regular" shot and the one for the "older" folks.

I know there has been all sorts of articles over the years about the MMR shot babies get in their first year or two of life possibly causing autism. I taught for 42 years and found more and more children where being diagnosed with Asberger's syndrome over the past 20 years. My brothers/sisters and I all had measles, mumps, rubella, and chickenpox as children so we never had those shots. Did have the polio shot when I was about 6yo. My own children didn't have reaction from the MMR, BUT, my doctor didn't give the 3 injections at once. He spaced them out over several months. My grandkids have had them, and the older one is on the "spectrum" but not the other one. I'm not sure what the cause of autism is, but with what we are finding out now, I suspect we are being lied to as well about that.
