I am Korean American living in SoCal and I can totally concur with your sentiment towards the mask obsessed Asians. Thank God I have some family members and friends that know what's truly going on. I still see so many Asians in SoCal frightened to death of this "virus" and some are even wearing masks, eye goggles, face shield, gloves while driving ALONE in their cars!! Absolute insanity!!
I'm actually in Asia right now.... it's hard to say what people think because of the collectivism...
I know a guy who proudly posted on Facebook that he's double vaxxed and showed his vaccine card, and thank you to all the medical workers that are saving us all, etc...
Privately he tells me that he knows the vaccines are bullshit and he thinks Biden is an idiot, and that Trump was cheated (he hated Trump previously and directly told me he thinks what I talk about is crazy... though he didn't freak out and continued to be a friend... I have many that completely cut me off for daring to not follow the herd, Asian and otherwise).
So, it seems like the pressure to fit in is so strong that he publicly shows his support for everything covid/vax agenda, but he doesn't seem to really believe that.
But yeah... face shields everywhere... they even fucking say FACE SHIELD on them, in case you didn't know that's what they were I guess. I think that's the dumbest part. Should your mask have the word "MASK" on it too?
I see parents with literal plastic bubbles over their kids' strollers.... how safe is that?!?!
After living here for a long time I have come to the conclusion that Asian culture is the death of the planet. It's the groupthink mentality. We have it in America too, but people at least THINK they're free and value individuality and free thinking to SOME extent, even if a lot of them don't take advantage of such concepts. Asian people though, they EXPECT to follow the herd. They don't need to be convinced of anything, they're already ready to serve at a moment's notice.
Really scary.
As individual people, I believe anyone, Asian or otherwise can do whatever they want. I think with a little more courage the friend I mentioned above could be great, but he's too afraid to openly come out and say what he thinks. You just don't do that here. I do it, and get away with it a lot more than locals because people already think I'm a crazy foreigner. I'm expected to be different.
I was teasing a girl about something once, I don't remember what... maybe I made some sexist comment as a joke... I dunno... women can't drive.. lets say that's what I said. The women in the room got angry, as I hoped (just having some fun, not honestly attacking anyone), so I turned to a couple men and asked if they agreed. I was acting very sarcastic and silly and over the top.. people here have trouble understanding that behavior so I was really playing it up to make it obvious. They VERY seriously said they can't make jokes like that, and only foreigners can do it. I said, why not, look at the ladies, they're laughing now... they get it. They insisted only a foreigner can get away with it.
You think it's hard to wake up Americans? You're right, it is, but try to wake up people over here.... the entire culture needs awakening.
I think there are some good points too, I'm not just trying to attack, but if we let a country like China run the world we are fucked on levels that Western people just do not understand.
Asians unfortunately have a very different interpretation of freedom and individual rights. They are herd like beyond what I have seen in any other demographic.
Hivemind. I've seen small things like a certain t-shirt become extremely popular for a week or even ONE DAY. For ONE DAY old men, teenage girls and everything in between will wear some weird thing like a shirt with Elmo on it. After this day or week is over, you'll never see that shirt again.
I used to play Pokemon Go somewhere in Asia. I played it longer than most people. When it was popular, it was expected that you have it on your phone. Parks were mob scenes of thousands of people catching Pokemon. I was once in a park mob that rushed to a smallish street to catch a really good Pokemon. We FILLED the street. Cars and scooters were trapped. The drivers must have freaked out because they suddenly had hundreds if not thousands of people completely engulfing their cars. A lot of people played it.
Anyway, after some time limit or whatever, the hivemind decided that it was over. I still liked it so I still played it. Other people did too, but the crowds became MUCH smaller.
If I said I liked Pokemon Go, people would say "we don't play that anymore".
Ok, maybe YOU don't, but I do. "No, that's old. We don't play that anymore."
People would laugh at me and do anything they could do to convince me that playing Pokemon Go was now unacceptable... I continued to do what I wanted to do though because I don't give a shit what everyone else thinks.
On a more serious note, I heard about someone calling the driver of a car a "son of a bitch" (in English). Why? I don't remember the details, but the driver hit or almost hit someone. Did something dangerous. So, a foreign guy yelled "watch it you son of a bitch" or something like that. The driver sued him and won.
I told everyone I saw that that was ridiculous. NOBODY agrees with me. Everyone insists that he was being offensive and you don't have the right to offend people.
I tried to explain that that type of thinking OFFENDS ME, and by their logic I should sue all of them, but that's not the popular opinion, so it was ignored.
Basically TV or some influential person said the foreign person was bad, so therefore they are, and don't you dare go against it.
People will ask me questions... just simple questions about the news.. unimportant stuff. "Have you heard that eggs are unhealthy now??" with this sly grin.. they're pretty proud because they must be the first person to break this news to me! Well, the problem is that they're the 12th person to ask me that, usually WORD FOR WORD the same sentence, in English.
People here won't go off on you, they'll just distance themselves.
I prefer this to snowflake bs, though there are very clear connections, yes.
The difference to me is that the snowflakes still THINK they're thinking for themselves, and they're expressing all their personal uniqueness... by doing exactly what everyone else is doing....
Asian culture is under no delusions that they think for themselves. They can to a degree of course, but they're pretty dedicated to being part of the group.
No that's pretty much exactly Asian culture lol. We have leftists here that are like that but nothing compared to them over there. They are the most terrifying people on the planet.
My regrets to you. It's water under the bridge, and I wish you the best. Always keep your privacy rights private. No one has any right to ask about your personal life.
I would probably had gotten fired differently than you. I would have shamed the Korean woman by saying -- "Shame on you for asking this question to me. I am sure it is not your custom to disrespect your teacher asking such a question. My personal life is not for anyone to question, period.
The Japanese place a lot of respect on age and have a very respectful culture around learning. It is drilled into them pretty early to be respectful to their teachers.
Even in kendo classes you have to learn to sit a certain way, respond a certain way and in a certain tone, etc.
So your students, now former, some of whom felt like friends, will be lied to by the company about your departure. You speak truth, they lie - you were incompatible with this operation, unbeknownst to you until now. You didn’t belong there. Be glad, and move on - a more suitable situation awaits you. God bless.
Good for you!! These brainwashed puppet suckers are stuck in stockholm syndrome and live their lives on their knees while wiping their chins. YOU stood tall and made and said the truth. Sadly, many would rather have the illusion of safety over freedom.
Stories like this just absolutely infuriate me. Right before Christmas too, these people have no shame, no honor, and absolutely no fucking common sense.
I live in Japan myself. I think I have it easy because I live in a smaller town and I do see people maskless outside going for walks. I never wear a fearmask outside of work, except if I go to my doctor's clinic or to stupid Costco. Last week I did have one cashier at a grocery store ask me to wear a fearmask as I was checking out, and I told her I don't need one. They have a hivemind, but they tend to back off when pushed against. The crazy thing is that after two atomic bombs were dropped on this country, you'd think that the people here would have learned a lesson on not blindly trusting the government.
"Always do good. This will gratify some people, and astonish the rest." -Mark Twain
It also is the best way to live. Sorry it got you fired, though. (For what it's worth, I mostly agree with you on the Asian comments, but ... 2 months ago I was on a flight from LA to Boston, and I took off my mask and never wore it during the entire flight. I walked the aisle maskless once or twice and noticed only 3 other people were maskless- a Chinese couple with their young child, a few rows ahead of me. I'm White. Everywhere, there is hope. I know a few other Asians that are anti-mask and anti-lockdown, too, but it's a small group.)
They don't need to be. Their culture makes them that way though.
I've worked with many Asian kids. They're just as energetic and creative and fun as any other kids you've seen.
Their parents and schools do everything they can to crush their spirits out of them. It's sick.
I see small children in Asia run around screaming and yelling while the parents sit at their restaurant table enjoying their meal without a care in the world about what their little hellspawn is doing. Watch what happens if they get a bad math score though. Oh my god. Hell hath no fury...
But, also watch a small child who's swinging their arm around with a biiiig smile on their face "la la la, la la la... " the happiest little kid in the world... the evil mom will smack them and yell at them for "causing trouble".
It's almost like you were setup my friend. Was your response pro-freedom response cited as the reason for your firing? Was there a contract you signed that forbade certain subjects? This is a blatant violation of those rights protected by the First Amendment.
Set up? The purpose of this idiot's job was to correct people's pronunciation and make them feel confident about speaking English. The fool doesn't understand how to do his job properly and got rightly shit-canned. He came crying here because he can't do it on FB b/c everyone who works in the industry knows better. This was a newbie getting burned by his own ignorance. He should learn his lesson and you all should wise up.
I have been working as a professor at the university level for yrs. 93% of the deans, faculty, and staff are marxists/communists. Anytime I post anti-NWO, anti-mask, anti-vax info I link to peer-reviewed studies. I try not to state my opinion and present it as an opportunity for the students to use "diversity"😜 (hahahaha) and critical thinking.
I posted a video yesterday questioning what is "social justice' from Prager U. in the video the UN states it is basically 'income redistribution.
I have been in many "meetings' with deans etc to discuss students complaining about my pro-American, Christian views and I always bring the data.
I'm going to keep rolling in money from my easy as shit online job because I'm smarter than you. Go and cry about your poor job performance on the Faceboook groups with the other whiney women.
When someone asks a point-blank question we are not to cower and avoid. The truth WILL come out and it should be considered an honor to uphold it and sacrifice for its sake.
Lol. He should talk about Mao Zedong and the Tianamen riots, too. You guys are completely ignorant of the job he failed to do properly. The OP is a knucklehead who botched the easiest job in the world and came crying here looking for sympathy because even the women on FB know better than this idiot.
I don't know why your being down voted so hard. I worked for several of these companies and it's pretty much common knowledge that you never discuss anything political, religious, or moral.
You pretty much had it right, if it's not food or the weather you don't talk about it.
They are downvoating me b/c they are ignorant about our industry and brainwashed to hate china and it is impossible that I could possibly know more than them and be an expert in the field and culture with which I have been working with and been married to for years and years. Impossible. Improbable. Unbelievable. Echo chambered bitches.
I love my "industry" and most of the students are great. Death by the "vax' is not an opinion but a "scientific fact. I will not put my head in the sand while propaganda and mis info is spread, think germany👌. That is my choice.
Sue the shit out of them.
This is the right response.

That's not just Asian cultures. Snowflake culture in the west is about the same.
If you say something mean then you are totally indefensible and may as well be murdered.

They PAID MONEY. YOU. SERVE. THEM.
That's what they think.

Japan is a lot more polite than where I am. Japan has the group think but they also have order.
I'm in the middle of group think and chaos.
They also clean up after themselves.
Leftists destroy the environment constantly while blaming everyone else. As leftism spreads so does litter
You mat be unfamiliar with Korean culture.
Fren, fellow educator.
You may have lost your "job" but you truly are a TEACHER. Rare these days - thank you for holding the line. I am in the same boat.
I'm Asian.
All the Asian fucks around me are fucking cowards who won't put up a fight. Too much Communist brainwashing.
Fucking left China to live in a Democracy only to have these dumb fucks hnad it to the commies again.
So your students, now former, some of whom felt like friends, will be lied to by the company about your departure. Badge of honor, Patriot.
Name them and shame them, fren!
God is going to reward you for this. Rest assured.
They don’t deserve you.
You’re on the right side of history

Online teaching jobs are abundant. Good luck!
Don’t be mad. They don’t understand
Friend of mine taught in Japan for a year and said that they're a totally cucked society.
He also said that the Japanese are arguably the most racist people on the planet!
He said they're nice people but are very racist specially the older generation.
its a good thing that happened now you can find a better gig fuck those idiots
Asshats who keep protecting the names of these companies are complicit with the bullshit.
Sounds like AmazingTalker, or something along those lines.
Dummy. I've been in the same industry as your for 4+ years. Keep your opinions to yourself unless it is about food and the weather. Live and learn.
I wouldnt want a job where you arent allowed to have an opinion.
Especially since it's supposed to be conversational.
