I've been trying to distance myself a bit from the site, as I tend to get this way, a bit doomy, after spending too much time on here. Maybe it's the change in weather too- cloudy and wet.
I guess we all need breaks at times. If I didn't have God, I'd be totally lost.
Today is day 1 of me not drinking alcohol. I was drowning my anger and stress and hatred with booze on a daily basis, and don’t want to do it anymore. Also going to visit here less until it’s clear the storm is upon us.
Just one day at a time. And lots of prayer for a peaceful mind

Been here less because of my own personal hell also. Baby mom has refused to talk to anyone about me and our child and has cut off her entire family. Her mental episode continues to spiral, it seems
Not looking forward to the 50-100 missed calls and suicidal texts when her affair doesn't work out.

Our faith is being tested - we all go through periods where it’s dark but have faith in God that he is protecting us. It seems dark but we are not suffering like the little ones they have been hurting. Stay strong and put your faith in God and give thanks that we have TRUMP fighting for us !!!

Like an old sales colleague of mine use to say --On days when the news beats you down, he told me to -- "Hold my chin up, suck in my gut, and squeeze my buttocks together." When I asked him why "squeeze my buttocks together", he looked at me and said-- "That's so you don't fart or shit your pants"
I guess it works for me, so it's probably good advice.

You’re in Alabama, so what about college football? Bama or Auburn? Tailgating or hosting a watch party with friends or family could be fun.
I don’t know much about fall activities in Alabama, but something like apple picking, or even boating if you’re near the water.
The weather should be changing soon, and going hiking is always nice when it starts to get cooler.

When feeling doomy I will talk to friends or relatives about anything but this stuff. Listen to good older music or go for a walk. Anything good for the soul. Prayer just to pray never hurts

I totally relate. Went out to lunch today with 2 other friends who are delightful and havn't seen in ages. It was such a normal thing to do and I need to do things like that more often for myself. This world will make up crazy.
Hang on tight - we are here for each other to get us through the fog. Not sure if this is your forte, but when I get doomy, I usually paint. If it's not a portrait, it's my house. Just cut-in four rooms and am about to roll.

I feel ya Lucille. Like you, I dont blindly accept everything that happens, good and bad, as "part of the plan" nor do I think this "game is already over and won" as many here do. There's hope though, I think. Hope to see you back sooner than later.

The scope and depth of evil on earth cannot be defeated by mere men. This is something only God can vanquish and He will but you can't place your hopes in men or intelligence operations.
I don't mean to pry or to preach (at all), but can I ask a few questions?
In what sense do you conceive/think about/feel that you have God?
Is God someone you turn to primarily when things are too difficult, or painful?
Do you feel like God is the person/place you can go to when you need that injection of hope/relief/etc?
I guess I ask this because your turn of phrase got me wondering. For some folks, God is the one they go to when they need it (and sure, God offers that to us), but I question with such folks who's really coming first? Me, or God? Because I think the correct way of things is that God should come first. We receive comfort, aid, support from God, but what do we give?
Is God the reason you do the things you do? (The rhetorical you, not you, LB.) Are you motivated to come to GAW because you think its what God wants you to do, or is it that you like and enjoy the pull of GAW, and so, are moved by that, except when it becomes too difficult?
People often ask "do you believe in God?" but I like the question "Does God believe in you?" You can always rely on God, but can God rely on you?
Do you turn to God when things are tough, or are you always thinking, what does God want me to do? What will make God happy? How can I honor, inspire and uplift God?
Do you have God? Or does God have you? If God has you, how MUCH does God have you? (How much does God come first in your mind and your heart?)
Anyway, a few random thoughts, granted, unrelated to your main premise. Either way, sounds like you're simply hitting some doldrums. Happens to the best of us. Be well.

Thank you, friends! I'm an even-keeled person, but we all have things that get us down. I'm not depressed at all, but like many have said, things happen and life throws them at us. God has always been there for me. I don't use Him as a last resort. He is the first one I need to go to, even though I sometimes fail at that. He's always there to help me get back to where I need to be. I praise and thank Him in through it all.

Siiiigh. LB is not some handshake. I get what you're saying but IMO you are way overblowing this one....
Well the sidebar is routinely ignored/not enforced for all kind of posts etc. And the general pattern is "support" posts are allowed - consider how many "quitting drinking support" posts there have been, just for one example. These routinely get tons of "you can do it" etc. (I'm more like "yeah do you want a cookie" about this type of stuff so I generally stay out of it).
So I dunno...just seems like mountain out of molehill considering the big picture...now admittedly if we could start enforcing the sidebar that would be swell and all - though I'd probably start with "If I were mod, I would delete every single non-informative post/clickbait/etc" as that is my personal #1 irritant....
