He then went right back to denial the next time I saw him. It convinced me people really would rather the bliss of ignorance.
Couple possibilities with your friend who thinks he got a good deal:
He could be an example of someone who lacks Idea Permanence, as one person put it. These are the people who you convince one day but they seem to forget it the next time. Often, these people don’t really forget that they were temporarily convinced by facts, they were just embarrassed that they abandoned their blue pill tribe for the facts. So they revert to denial to show their loyalty to the delusional tribe.

If you care to argue with the jackass, you could challenge him on how good his deal really is. How’s his health and fitness? How many strong sons does he have?
