We don't know when it will happen, but we do know it will happen. Eventually, the 'plan' will come to fruition. And I'm sure we all want to be at our healthiest and best when that happens.
I was thinking that perhaps we could have an ongoing thread where those interested would post their routines and even questions about how each of us can be our healthiest. I'm sure there are those here who are bodybuilders, for instance. Perhaps they could post about what they do, what they eat, etc. There are probably those who want to get in better shape. Perhaps they could post questions specific to their concerns and the frens could answer.
For instance, I would love to know what my fellow frogs are doing on a daily or weekly basis to keep fit.
Exercising? (What kind)
Eating a certain way? (what, specifically)
Taking supplements? (which ones)
Let's help each other get as strong as we can, physically and mentally. And if people are interested in this idea and would like to partake, I will eventually post some info about our spiritual health, as well. What do you say, frogs? Are you ready to get in the best shape of your life? Let's gooo!
Here are things I did to make myself healthy and feel great (not to mention dropping some weight as well).
Cut off all soft drinks and alcohol
Cut off sugar and most sweets and processed carbs
Reduce carb intake
Stop eating after 5 and don't start eating until 9 in the morning
Switch from junk snacks to nuts
Drink a glass of water with lemon squeezed in it, with a pinch of backing soda in the night to manage acidity.
Cut all seed oils and most vegetable oils (Olive oil excepted) and use butter, and animal fat whenever possible in cooking.
I cannot believe how effective and easy to do all this is. The fact that our indoctrination system never taught us any of this is criminal to put it mildly.
The doctor once told me to stop consuming anything white: sugar, salt, flour, rice, pasta. Sugar is the hardest, because they stick sugar in almost everything in the store.
Dont forget white salt - equally deadly as well.
Yep, this is why eventually you will end up giving up anything processed from the store.
I included salt.
I don't know how I missed it!
Actually the Salt(sodium) protects your thyroid. Thyroid function is primarily regulated by thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), It is secreted by the pituitary gland to control thyroid hormone production and secretion, **thereby protecting the body from hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism **. So cutting off the salt(sodium) is bad idea.
Is it the salt or the iodine in it? I've read it's the iodine that makes the difference.
You have to be leary of the common bulk salts. They are heated to 1200 degrees and it changes the attributes and you cannot digest it. We need the right salts, and we need the right Iodine.
So do you know which is the right salt and the right iodine?
Iodized salt is salt that contains small amounts of sodium iodide or potassium iodide. It's normal salt that has been sprayed with potassium iodate. The majority of table salt used nowadays is iodized.
So is pink Himalayan salt okay then?
Yeah, thats what I use. It has a lot of minerals, so its good. However the best is apparently black salt (has more minerals).
Wow, never heard of black salt. thanks.
BTW a friend of mine also swears by the salt from the salt lake city - but I cannot vouch for it.
Interesting!

Thank you.
I’m a diabetic and found that xylitol (a natural replacement for sugar. But please research it to see if it’s for you), cut my addiction to sugar. It tastes like sugar and is granulated like sugar. It’s natural, not a chemical. FYI.
Be careful with it around dogs! My mother in laws pup ate a package of gum out of her purse and almost died from it.
Have you tried monk fruit extract?
Yes that true!! Thank you for saying that! It’s poisonous to dogs!!!
Have you been able to find monk fruit? If so, please let us know where. The monk fruit I see is mostly erythritrol with just a tiny bit of monk fruit.
Sadly on Amazon. That's for the powdered kind. The liquid kind is usually straight monk fruit, and I think we've found it at our local grocery stores like Hy-Vee or Sprouts.
Thanks. It's good to know the liquid is actually monk fruit. Appreciate it.
You're welcome! It helped me a lot when I had gestational diabetes. Also, straight monk fruit is so much sweeter than sugar. Something like 150x as sweet. That's why they mix it with other stuff so that it's a 1:1 replacement. So a little goes a long ways!
It can make you fart. Also, it's made from corn.
Great info. Thanks.
Yes they do! Soybean oil too.
I agree about the criminality. I think most of us are questioning everything we were taught about health after what we've been through the last few years. Thank you so much for the post! 14 hour IF is good.
These days its becoming close to 17-18 hours, but 14 is my minimum. In the end your body just stops craving and you feel so full after one meal that you don't feel like eating anything else.
How long have you been doing this IF?
More than 6 months now
Cool. Thanks.
Olive is fruit. Agree with all those choices.
Work two jobs because I am just about broke = stay away from home 65+ hours a week. I am looking forward to the part where America is Great Again!
I'm sorry to hear that. I hope you're keeping your health up as best you can with decent food and sleep. And I hear ya! I think we are all looking forward to that time!
It’s hard to get enough sleep when you’re working 65+ hrs a week. The problem isn’t that there is not enough time to sleep it’s that if you go for 8 or more hours you will have no life. You’ll end up feeling like all you do is work and sleep and that will eventually (sooner than later) mess with your mental health. Once that happens your marriage and your family will suffer. VICIOUS CYCLE
Totally agree, and being broke has been a strain. We fell a house payment behind because of vehicle repairs. After 4 months, we never caught up; so, I took a second job. I slept better not being behind for awhile, now I just pray I can hold on until the end of the movie.
Yes, indeed. It seems the solution is to find one job that allows you to make enough money you can drop the other one. Easier said than done, I know. Are you familiar with Dave Ramsey? If not, I highly suggest you look him up and see if his concepts will help you. All the best, fren.
Yup, I know Ramsey and Robert Kiyosaki.
The problem for me isn’t money, it’s an obsession with staying busy and loving my work. Although, I can relate to working my ass off and not feeling like I’m getting anywhere.
What I’ve learned over the years is when you find yourself in that position and you’ve exhausted all avenues within that work environment to increase your revenue it’s time to pivot, BUT you MUST be SMART about it. When you decide to pivot you need to know that whatever route you’re taking will either pay more right out of the gate or has a well defined path for upper mobility. If starting a business, have a strong business plan with realistic revenue projections and if you’re going to work for someone be sure to ask about advancement within the company and what are the requirements to advance.
This will probably be the hardest thing for some people👇🏼
It’s important to be a “glass is half full” type person. If you’re not that type of person you need to reevaluate and make that mental change. Life is difficult and regardless of how well things might be going it will always throw you a curveball. If you aren’t a positive person those curveballs will kick you square in the nuts and it will be that much more difficult to figure your way out.
Other than that, remember to enjoy what you do have. Love your children and find a way to spend time with them. If you’re tired SUCK IT UP and give them what they need. Love your wife and do your absolute best to not let the stresses of work and money affect that relationship, it’s hard, I know.. But the #1 thing you can do to be happy is release your problems to God. This was the hardest lesson I’ve ever had to learn, but once I learnt what that truly means I was able to be more consistently happy no matter what life threw at me😎
Patriot teacher, who loves America and hates pedophiles! I am proud to be teaching children to love their country and think critically. IMO part of the cabal's plan is to make real teachers so broke they cant unite.
My friend I am so damn grateful for the work you’re doing! THANK YOU🇺🇸
Needed that today :) I know that parochial teachers make even less, but I started teaching after 35. I still do not make what I used to make in the private sector. Up until Biden, my wife and I could save a little each month.
I'm sure a lot of folks here would appreciate hearing what you learned about casting your cares on God and HOW you did that. Thanks!
I’ll try to post that here today. It’s definitely worth the time to write because it had a profound impact on my life.
Wonderful. Thank you.
thank you!
Keto diet, only eat meat and some vegetables, less than 20g of carbs per day, 2 meals a day within 6-8 hrs of one another. Works great for me
Wow. How long have you been doing that? Did you have an adjustment period or was it easy for you from the start? That's very low carb. Thanks for the post.
3 years, though I blow it every time I drink beer, but when I get back to it I feel incredible. No more tingling legs, no post-meal tiredness, way less ache and pains, clarity of mind etc, digestion is better, energy is better, and its actually cheaper too making my own meals and avoid all the boxed stuff or restaurants. Id recommend it to anybody. To start off, just eat as much steak and eggs as you can, then when you crave food again later (the blood sugar crashes) just eat more steak and eggs, maybe add some sauteed veggies or whatnot. Before long you just stop craving carbs (if you're diabetic, you'll have to be more cautious and ask your doc)
I wish I could follow that advice to the T. I have developed an allergy to eggs, which is very inconvenient, to say the least. I love them and they're so versatile. And red meat usually hurts my stomach, but the other day I made the best steak I'd eaten in years and it didn't hurt my tummy. (I'm a bit of a disaster when it comes to cooking steak) but this time it came out great. If I could manage to do that a few times a week, or more, I'd be very happy. What type of steak to you eat and how to you prepare it?
Growing up I always ate eggs with no problems. I had my first child at 20. Something changed after that. Whenever I'd eat an egg it made my stomachache. I tried just eating egg whites and still my tummy would hurt. Then I tried just the yolks but still a tummy ache. I even tried farm fresh eggs to only still suffer. I could eat cookies and cakes that had egg in them with no problems. Probably because I was only eating a small percentage of egg in the batch of cookies. But things like French toast, custard, or something with a high egg content I'd suffer.
I'm 61 now. I started Keto a year ago. Three months into Keto, I ate an egg. To my surprise I didn't suffer a tummy ache. I eat eggs everyday now. Weird huh?
Wow, that is weird. I wonder if you went off the keto if you'd go back to having tummy troubles. Anyway, that's great that you can finally eat them again! I hope I can do that one day too. I really, really, really miss them.
The trick for steaks is to buy a New York strip, as thick as you can. Preferably salt it many hours ahead but 20 mins is fine if you’re in a rush. Add garlic and pepper, let it get to room temp if you can as well. Cast iron, medium high heat with olive oil. 2-3 mins first side, 1-2 mins on the flip side. Add butter to the cast iron and stick that baby right in the over at 450. Wait another 6-8 mins and it’ll be perfect every time.
Thank you! I'm filing that info. I would love to be able to make a great steak. Appreciate it, fren.
It might depend on the source of the eggs. Do you buy them at the grocery store, or do you buy them from a local producer?
I like sausage and eggs for breakfast, and sometimes bratwurst and eggs for supper. Tomatoes and onions are good, and they combine with ground beef to make a number of different things.
At the grocery store. I would love to have that for breakfast.
Try those Banquet frozen breakfast sausage links. I like the maple flavor. Just put a few on a plate and microwave on the Reheat setting. I have daily "doses" vacuum sealed in my deep storage.
If I eat out, I get the large sausage links and eggs. The restaurant adds cheese to the scrambled eggs. I don't have to order any more, as they know what I want.
You must be a regular, lol.
Did you at any point ever wake up early and not be able to sleep as well?
I loved doing Keto I just found it very tough to sustain!!
Yes, I've heard a lot of people say that. Some get 'brain fog' from the low carbs.
That and I have a 2 year old so trying to balance meals was a little tough. And I’ll be honest my self-control was an issue haha, i like carbs and sweets so it tested me. I’m glad you made this post to see what works for other people too!
Cheers! 6 years strong on one meal a day and never felt better. I went back to two recently because I just don’t need to burn fat like I was (lost 50 lbs). Ketosis strips kept me on track until I figured out what I was doing.
People will say it’s not sustainable long-term, but it totally is, if done right.
Agreed. I ate one meal a day for years. It's harder for me now though. Good for you for dropping 50 pounds! That's got to feel great. Please stick around and advise and encourage those wanting to drop pounds.
Good idea.
Eat capers and tins of smoked oysters. Zinc and quercetin to penetrate cell walls.
Now this is interesting! (and exactly why I wanted to do this.) Can you briefly tell us the benefits of capers and oysters? I'm all ears (or eyes, in this case.)
Capers are a huge source of quercetin, which helps penetrate cell walls, and oysters are huge in zinc, which gotten into cells kills pretty much any crap.
Interesting! I didn't connect those with the second sentence, sorry. I was thinking that was further advice. So, I had no idea that capers were loaded with quercetin. This is great info. Thanks!
Capers and red onions are pretty much the number one dietary sources of quercetin.
A packet of microwavable lentils, plus half a jar of capers, and a tin of smoked oysters, will go a long way.
Lol, that also sounds like an easy meal. I had no idea about the red onions / quercetin connection. This is great to know. You are a fount of information, M42D
You'd be surprised how easy it is to make a full meal with packet lentils. They'll go with fish, meat or just salad like rocket. And they're great for minerals and pooping 😁🤭
I've never seen microwave packets of them. I'll have to look for them.
Quercetin + Bromelain + Zinc
Please remind us what the Bromelain is for. I think most of us probably know about quercetin and zinc though.
My understanding is this: you have to get the zinc into the cells, which is what quercetin does. However, quercetin isnt digested and/or absorbed well by the body, so thats what bromelain does - get the quercetin absorbed.
I also avoided 2 bad colds (family was sick for 5 days on the first one, i was sick for one; the second they were sick for 3 days, i wasnt sick at all)
I also throw in elderberry because why not
Okay, so that's what it's for. Good for you for avoiding the illness. Hopefully the family got on board with your plan.
negative but thats ok. Im starting to get a scratchy throat now and thats what im going to take. Fingers crossed!
Oh dear. Hope it's over soon.
For exercise, find what you like to do. If you force yourself to do something you don't like, when you don't see results within the first month or two (or six!) you won't do it anymore. If you like it, you will keep doing it. Put it on your schedule. It's non-negotiable. Every morning, at 7am, I either lift weights or run for 40 minutes. Every morning. I love those two things though, so it's easy for me.
I like putting on some kick ass music and dance as if nobody's looking for an hour. Puts me in a great mood. I live with chronic pain and music bypasses my body and goes right to my soul.
That's excellent. I used to do that. I should start again. Great for reducing stress and expressing joy.
Exactly 💯 😊
Great advice! And the non-negotiable part is key, I think. You do it automatically, just like you automatically brush your teeth or eat a meal. And once it gets under your skin, you find yourself wanting to do it. If you've got any specific advice for people about lifting, please post it when you get a chance. Lady Boothall above mentioned she'd like to lose some weight, for instance. Perhaps you could post some advice for her and others wanting to drop weight.
Lift a weight until you can't anymore, then see how many more you can do. Your mind will tell you you're done before your body does. Whether that's 6 or 20, do what you can. If you can keep going after 20 reps, next time grab a heavier weight. Do one set, two sets, or three sets for each muscle group. Do them one after another, or do them in a rotation (ie 1 set for the chest, one set for the triceps, one set for calves, then repeat chest, tris, calves... etc). Do what you can. As long as you are lifting, and going to true failure (body failure, not mind failure), you are doing it right. Don't get too caught up in the "experts". If you lift one side, lift the other. If you lift something on the front of your body, lift the opposite muscles on the back. It's not rocket science, but it works! Also, weed whacking for two or three hours is a good upper body workout. I just learned that this weekend for sure! Turn on the TV, or a good radio station, podcast, or whatever, and just pick up the weights!
weed wacking, lol. But thanks, that's good advice. I've always heard to go to exhaustion, but truthfully, I haven't. I will do that now.
My own routine is food / supplements. But I'd say my biggest contribution is just talking about health with others, like you OP.
Offhand comments like "Yuck, that has trans-fats", or "Time to take my vitamin D." And when kids around me asked for candy, I showed off metal fillings, "Oh, you want metal in your mouth too, huh."
Health is great, but it really shines when people realize why.
Exactly. And if some of those fillings contained mercury ... all the more reason to avoid the foods that caused the problem. (Although I have to admit I have become such a cynic that I wouldn't put it past some dentists to drill unnecessarily, just for the coin.) Anyway, please post your best suggestions for healthy foods and supplements. Thanks for the post!
Yes, mercury. Took one out two months ago, but insurance doesn't cover removal unless it's medically necessary. At least, I can educate a few kids about what too much soda and candy does to you. And another reason for the vitamin D, good for the teeth.
I looked into that a few years ago and just to remove the fillings the guy wanted $1700 per tooth. Can't imagine what he'd be charging in biden's America. It was too much for me, unfortunately. I'd love to do it though.
I had a dentist that did that when we were kids. Always found a cavity in each of us (there were 4 of us, twice a year). Apparently he did it to a lot of people! After I became an adult, the truth started coming out. He lost his license, but retired a happy, rich man.
Oh, that's horrible! Sick! Destroying young, healthy teeth for personal profit. I believe the same thing happened to me, and what made it worse was they were mercury.
A friend of mine had a dentist doing that, he loved doing unnecessary root canals.
They are the profession with the highest rate of suicide. Bunch of crooks!
Deep breathing through my nose to my belly 2 - 3 breaths a minute (emphasis on a slow exhale).
Carnivore diet.
Push, pull, squat exercises to failure, while breathing properly, every day. 5 to 10 minutes max. in the sunshine if possible.
Sleep 8 hours a night. (This is the hardest for me)
Benefits after 5 years, improved eyesight, more muscle, never hungry (can go a day or so without eating and almost don't notice), skin smoother and younger, more alert (less brain fog), stomach and digestive issues eliminated, better sex life.
This routine is almost like gaining a superpower. I don't worry about heart disease, diabetes, cancer, etc. At 65 years of age I honestly have never felt better.
Wow! That's quite a testimony. Great to hear. Have you actually been doing the carnivore that long? I think that would be extremely hard for me as I love veggies. But maybe for a period of time. What does the deep breathing do for you? I heard a nurse saying that none of us breathe deeply enough, so that's interesting you do that. How long do you do the breathing, if you don't mind saying? Thanks for the post!
I have probably been doing it close to 5 1/2 years time flies.
The hardest thing was giving up carbs, I am an Idaho Farm boy and grew up eating meat and potatoes. Spuds are pure carbs and carbs are addicting and have the same withdrawals symptoms as alcohol which is another carb. It takes about 30 to 60 days to get past carb withdrawals.
About breathing, short shallow breaths don't exchange enough volume in the lungs and induce stress. Long deep breaths through the nose (for nitric oxide) using the diaphragm oxygenate the system and relax it, lowering the heart rate. Same as Wim Hof, yoga, meditation, free diving, etc. I put breathing first because it is the most important and after you do it properly for about 6 months it becomes automatic.
I try to always breathe this way, even if I do a sprint I slowly exhale the entire distance. Up to about 10 seconds : )
That's amazing, fren. What a lifestyle change! It's almost hard to wrap my head around eating only meat. It seems like it would affect / touch every aspect of your life. Even with other people, like wife and kids, socializing with friends, going out to eat at a restaurant, etc. Very interesting. Thanks. And thanks for explaining about the breathing. I had thought you meant you do it for a period of time each day, but you have managed to change so that this is how you breathe all the time. Very interesting. You list of benefits is compelling. Thanks. And I hope you'll stick around and post about your techniques sometimes in the daily threads. I'm sure others would like to learn about your success. Thanks!
Yes, the carnivore lifestyle complete changed my life, but not how I expected. Yes my health improved dramatically and my wife joined in after a year or so of seeing the improvements.
The biggest change was how I viewed everything I had been taught and thought I knew. The whole Medical/insurance/pharma industry is a sham, the key to good health is simply eating nutritious, species appropriate food, which for us is fat and protein. 90% of our medical problems are caused by our diet and the other 10% can be cured with antibiotics.
The biggest lies are completely ignoring the Truth like the War on Cancer > don’t eat carbs, Climate Change > Ideal Gas Law, War on Terror > CIA, War in Ukraine > Western Imperialism, Covid19 vaccination > Ivermectin, Free Trade > Economic War, nuclear weapons > heat ≠ PSI, etc.
They lie by censoring the truth.
Indeed. I think the last few years have woken up a lot of people to the enormity of the lies we've been told and the truths that have been censored. Still, there are sooo many more people who need to wake up. Thanks for the comment.
I like this idea. I would like to see this as a daily chat. Today I resolved to take better care of myself. Again. I was just think of how much better off I will be when SHTF if I can just get the extra weight off and get fit. Learning to garden is one thing I'm doing to improve.
Excellent. I too am trying my hand at gardening, though I confess I'm not too good at it just yet. Perhaps I just need to find the right things for me personally to grow. And I agree, I'd love for this to be a daily thread to help people and boost them up, encourage them to work at their health.
Hopefully some wise frens will post some advice for you about losing weight. Thanks for the comments.
Excercise: Cardio : Bicycle 1 hour 3 x / week Weights: 3X/week : Push (Chest, triceps, shoulders) 1X Pull (Biceps, lats, traps, abs) 1X Legs (Gluts, thighs, calves, abs) 1X No particular order, depends on mood and or weather. Supplements: Multi Vit. B, D 3-4 X/week Enzymes, Quercetin, MSM, Collagen, NAC, COq10, randomly Herbs- Eyes, lungs, oil of oregano as needed Food: Wholesome. Minimal processed Age: 60- feeling better than ever
Wow, that's great to hear! Glad you're feeling great. So let me make sure I have this straight. You do cardio with a bike three times a week for one hour. And you lift weights three times a week (alternate days from bike?) But when you do the weights, you do just 1 set of each? Also, please elaborate on the enzymes you take and what they're for, as well as what MSM is. Thanks!
Yes alternate days from bike. Weights are muliple excercises for each muscle group. 3 sets. Once a week for each group. I use Similase by Integrative Therapeutics. Enzymes help digestion, so your body can breakdown and absorb all the nutriants taken in. Been taking for decades. MSM is form of sulphur which body uses to lubicate joints. I should also mention Serapaptase made from silkworm thread that disolves scar tissue. Also been taking that for decades.
Excellent. Thanks for the additional info.
Old woman here, age 80, definitely slowing down but still feel good and have no aches or pains. I walk 1 - 2 miles 5 days per week and do stretches, squats, etc on vibration plate (for balance and strengthening) the other 2 days. Low carb diet, some days carnivore. Have avoided caffeine, sugar and grains for many years. No doctor visits or medications for many many years due to bad experiences with both. I do take several supplements and vitamins. My one naughty indulgence is a bedtime toddy. ;)
Lol. That bedtime toddy might help you sleep! Thank you for posting. That's great and what a testament from an 80-year-old! I've never heard of a vibration plate. Please tell us what supplements and vitamins you take. I'm sure many people would be interested to know. Thank you for posting. Great info. God bless.
My doctor told me to take Vitamin D3, as people don't get as much sun as they used to. She seems to be on my side, never bugging me about shots.
That's good. Did she mention K2 by any chance? My understanding is that it's necessary to make the D3 work as it's supposed to. I take a combo of the two.
Yes, I learned that from Dr. Mercola, he’s a big proponent of K2/D3.
Too much potassium can cause kidney problems. I'm not 100% so I had to cut back on foods containing potassium. A few years ago, the nurse actually called me to say I shouldn't eat bananas. I asked her to guess what I was eating at that very moment. I was eating a banana sandwich.
So I don't take potassium. There's still some in the food I eat.
Fren, "Vitamin" K2 and Potassium are not the same thing. Potassium is indeed "K" on the table of elements but K2 is a different and necessary nutrient in a different category. You've so right about too much potassium being a problem. K2 helps D3 not go to calcify your arteries, and sends it to the bones instead.
A banana sandwich, lol. Like Elvis. Was there peanut butter in it? I am probably too low on potassium. But I'm glad you got it figured out. Kidney problems would be awful.
Sliced banana and Miracle Whip. My mother would make sandwiches like that when I was a child. If we were short on bananas, she would mash up bananas and Miracle Whip together into a spread and stretch it into more sandwiches.
Peanut butter and jelly is a classic, but I like peanut butter and unfiltered honey on a sandwich.
Never heard of that combo though I had plenty of miracle whip sandwiches growing up.
Actually, way back then, we shopped at A&P, so it was Ann Page salad dressing. I like Miracle Whip with baloney too.
Fresh lettuce. I don't really like lettuce but it seems when I eat some garden fresh lettuce I have so much energy. I don't get the same benefits from the store bought ones.
Anything from the garden is amazing. When I was growing up my dad kept a full garden of every vegetable and plant you could imagine. The moment you hit the bottom step you were greeted by the aroma of mint. Even just the scents did a huge amount for wellbeing. That's why fresh produce is good, it stimulates your senses.
Lucky you to have such a wise dad.
Sorry to hear about that. I can't understand parents who hurt their children. It's so unthinkable.
Well, I'm glad you have a sort of detante with him. He is of that generation that has a hard time expressing themselves, particulary to apologize, it seems.
Interesting! Thank you. I could use some extra energy. Perhaps I'll grow some. I understand it grows quickly, too.
Yeah it's about thrrr weeks until the first salad. But it tends to be a little bitter if it gets too hot. I have mine under fruit trees but they still are often not super delicious.
That's good to know. My garden is in full sun so I might have to figure out a shade. Thanks for the tip.
Think about hydroponics.
I picked up a kit for the family for Christmas just to try. I chalked the cost of the system up to being about the price of a community ed course - $50-75. It's the price of education.
We grew lettuce in the winter indoors. Totally worked! Tasted great.
Bought a few more hydroponic systems as part of a prepping system for food. Used these kits as tomato starters for our garden - it worked great! Totatoes are now planted in the garden.
Kale, rosemary, and lavender starting from seed now in the hydroponic system.
Still doing lettuce while waiting for garden to come in. (I'm in growing zone 3 if this seems late to be starting gardening. 🙂)
This winter I plan to continue lettuce and then do herbs. Basil, peppermint, and cilantro for cooking. Unless of course SHTF and I need to grow more substantial food. 🙂
I got the kit off Amazon. Box, grow light, fertilizer, cones/sponges are all included. I purchased seeds separately.
Thank you. This is GREAT info! I was about to ask where you bought it when I saw you said amazon. How was your production quantity? You said you started with lettuce in the winter - so roughly how much lettuce did you produce (heads per week?) Any special tips or things you learned that you can share? I LOVE this idea and want to do it. Thanks so much.
The kit I have has 7-8 cones/sponges. This is the growing medium that is held in the water.
I had about 3 seeds per sponge.
Think leaves, not heads. When it really got growing, I would harvest some of the leaves for a salad. Then more leaves would grow out of the same cone/sponge/plant.
If I had too many leaves at one time, I would harvest and keep in the refrigerator like bagged lettuce you get in the store. We planted in January and once grown (about 3 weeks) were harvesting leaves like this until about mid-april. By then, it was clear to start a new batch - new sponges and seeds.
If you have ever planted a flower box on your deck railing with say spinach or romaine, the harvesting was more like this.
The one box was good for us to start. We live in mn, so in the dead of winter, warming up with a bowl of chili vs a salad is the go to 🙂. So, a bit of retraining our palates is also needed along the way. Even without hydroponics, we don't eat mass amounts of salad in the winter. No one is really talking about making a big ol' bowl of salad on the weekend in mn winters.🙂
We did not stager the planting, but did stager the harvesting by harvesting of a couple of cones at a time. Then, while those cones are growing again, you can harvest of some of the other cones, then rotate back.
Also, when I state harvest, it is really more of a thinning out. Bottom leaves are oldest and largest so they get harvested first. Leave the top ones alone so they continue to grow. Eventually these will become the bottom ones.
I put the fertilizer on amazon subscribe and save am playing around with the frequency. For what we did with the first box we had enough, but by the time we wanted to start the second box, we needed more. Have not looking into cheaper alternative here, yet.
I would say start now with one box. Learn while there is an abundance of garden produce. By the time fall rolls around, you will have a good idea of how much you will get from a box in the wintertime. If you need more boxes, you can always order then.
Good luck!!
This is the kit I got. Ignore the picture, totally ridiculous.
Hydroponics Growing System Indoor Garden: Herb Garden Kit Indoor with LED Grow Light Quiet Smart Water Pump Automatic Timer Healthy Fresh Herbs Vegetables - Hydroponic Planter
Thank you! I was going to ask you which one you got, lol.
No running on pavement; too hard on the body. Pullups, pushups, dips, squats, clean and press, rows, deadlift, bench...Strength over endurance.
Only food with natural ingredients. Cook your own as much as possible.
Morning porridge: hemp seed hearts, flax seed, almond butter, and salt with diced apples or berries.
Soup, chili, curry, fish, mediterranean food, salad. Low on bread, low on sugar. Eat enough to support exercise level.
Sounds like you're in great health and peak shape. I hope you'll stick around and offer advice and encouragement to other frogs in our daily threads. Pullups and pushups are huge. I'm working on increasing my pushups. What is the deal with salt and apples or berries? Does the salt interact with them in some way? And I personally love Mediterranean food. Maybe if this thread goes well and people get into it, I'll post some recipes. Thanks for the post, fren.
Not in the best shape of my life but not bad. Salt is just part of the hemp seed porridge I have for breakfast every day. Apples or berries to makes it yummier. Hemp seeds are the real star. There is no singular plant food more packed with nutrition.
I think cultivating a mental attitude of "I'm growing younger" is key. Still getting carded thirty years since I could start buying beer. Soon I'll be in my twenties again!
Wow! Getting carded in your 50s? That's impressive! Please tell us where you get your hemp seeds. Tell me quick, or I might be a newborn again. (I'm thinking younger.)
Eww, eww, eww. Good luck with that though. Ivermectin kills parasites.
Walking the dog twice a day, kayaking during the warmer months, mostly keto 2x a day, no alcohol, water revitalized and structured by using GRANDER product, magnesium, NAC, D3 - cook our own food and feel great! 78 years young!
Wow! That is awesome to hear! Thank you for posting this. Would you please explain your use of the GRANDER product? I'm sure there are many like myself who are unfamiliar with it. Thanks for posting!
Thank you gobby! Here is a link to their website! https://www.granderwater.com/ The product is made in Austria! It is very easy to use, just have a cylinder on my counter and I keep the filtered water jug beside it! I also give that water to my pets (1 dog and 1 cat) and their water bowl never has any calcium deposits! Grander has different size cylinders. They can be installed at the main water inlet, used in swimming pools! I have used mine for a few years now!
Thank you for the link. I'll check it out!
For me personally: Download a free app where you can track carb, fat, and protein intake. Americans eat FAR too many carbs, FAR too little protein. If you can afford it, find some natural protein bars, the best kind of eggs you can find, and or high-protein Greek yogurt. Get your protein up to at least 80-90 grams of protein a day. In general eat a more natural diet of meat, eggs, greens, nuts, etc… and exercise!!! Go get some 20, 30, 40lb dumbbells off Facebook marketplace for cheap and do some at least every other day. Good form, at least 50-60 reps during a session, and consistency with a good diet and you’ll see the fat melt off in less than 3 months.
Thanks! Did you lose a lot of weight, yourself? And please, explain what you mean about the 'best kind of eggs.' I agree about the carbs, particularly from the junk food aspect.
I love this for many reasons but mostly so we may best prepare for 2024
Exactly. Wouldn't it be awesome if we were all the fittest and healthiest we've ever been? Tiger-frogs!
BJJ all day. You need to be trained in armed and unarmed combat during the implosion of clown town.
What is BJJ? Any specific advice on unarmed combat would be appreciated!
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu
Oh, thank you. I've heard that's great to know. I wish you could post a video of yourself doing the moves. I bet others would be interested, but I'm sure yt has plenty of vids. Thanks!
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
I really prefer wrestling / judo (take downs) over BJJ.
You can only do something with BJJ once you're on the ground.
In real life though the ground game for wrestling isn’t as applicable. I wrestled in high school and did some college as well. Wrestling is 100% better for standing but BJJ is better fro ground game.
I wish we could see you do a demonstration! Sounds like all of those who be good arrows to have in one's quiver.
Supplements: Zinc, quercetin, Vit C+D. NAC. Milke thistle
Food - low carb. Keto. Beef and fish only. Avocado + cheese and banana for lunch.
Exercises Boxing 3-4 times a week.
Boxing. Wow. I bet that's effective. Is there a reason other than personal taste that you don't eat chicken? And please explain the benefit of Milk thistle and the form in which you take it. Thanks, fren. Great post.
Milk thistle - liver protection.
I just hate chicken.
Lol, okay. That's reasonable. And thanks for the info on milk thistle. Were you diagnosed with a liver problem or do you just take it as a sort of prophylactic?
prophylactic
I see. Thanks for explaining.
One thing I would add is people need to take minerals. Most of our foods don't have much essential minerals because we reuse the dirt over and over. With water, we usually purify it which then also takes out the minerals. Just bought a 72+ mineral droplets to add to water. Gonna try it tomorrow because supposedly that gives you a boost of energy if your body has been deficient for a while.
Along these lines is fulvic acid and humic acid from deep in the earth sources (think prehistoric plant-sourced) which provide amazing minerals. I know the amazing gentleman who runs a company in California's Central Valley that processes such a product from a deep-earth source in the midwest. You can get it on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0163GIQIM/ref=ox_sc_saved_image_1?smid=A3MUPFAITKZUFY&psc=1
Interesting! Thanks for sharing that.
SHILAJIT
Why would anyone downvote your comment?? SMH. You're absolutely right about our foods being mineral deficient due to the exhausted soil.
I remember someone once saying they knew an autistic person who pushed ALL the buttons, up and down, just so they could see the color change. They liked it. Maybe it was someone like that.
I disagree -- strongly.
What most people do not know is that there are TWO types of minerals: organic and inorganic.
There is organic iron and inorganic iron. There is organic copper and inorganic copper, etc.
Humans can ONLY digest, absorb, and utilize organic minerals, which are found in foods -- ideally, animal foods.
So-called "mineral water" has inorganic minerals, which are nothing more than rocks.
We cannot utilize rocks, and in fact they build up toxins within us.
ALL the organic minerals we need are found in animals foods. They are the right type and in the right amounts (as long as we eat enough food).
The only type of water anyone should drink is distilled water, because it is pure H2O, with zero inorganic minerals.
If you search this topic on the cabal's internet, you will find articles about how distilled water will leach minerals from your body.
YES! It will leach INORGANIC minerals, which your body does NOT want and cannot use.
Adding rocks to your diet is NOT a good idea.
We humans have 4 needs from our diet: Amino acids (from proteins), fatty acids (from saturated fats), vitamins and minerals. All 4 of these are found in abundance in animals foods.
Anything else is less than optimal.
Thank you for that info. I was not aware of the organic / inorganic issue. And I never heard of the distilled water-only concept, either. Very interesting. This is exactly why I wanted to start a thread like this. So much info to learn and the frens here are so knowledgeable. thank you!
That's a great point. I know I've thought about that for a while but haven't acted on it. Would you please report back with your success on the product you're going to try? I'm sure a lot of frens here could use that sort of boost. I agree about our soils not only being depleted, but also being treated with so many chemicals. Do you use a water filter / purifier?
Meat, veggies, dairy including yogurt, nuts, olives. Easy on carbs but still do some good bread and cereal. Cut alcohol and sugar to a minimum.
Free weights, hiking with a backpack. Bicycle.
Nac and black seed oil. Multi occasionally.
This sounds great. I have seen other people mention NAC and I know it was big during the whole covid debacle. What do you take it for - what is it's purpose? Thanks.
Just to keep my system clean. I really think it saved my life, I never got the jab but was having lots of weird symptoms around the lockdowns and they were getting worse when I started NAC. All clear after a few months along with other things that had been going on before. Kidneys were killing me and lots of headaches for years.
Very interesting. Thanks. I'm glad to hear your feeling better. What dose do you take?
Sorry, my post became garbled. It was organized by line
That's okay. To avoid that you can hit return twice and that will make it like a bullet list.
Ah, great. Thanks gobby. I'm not the best with the tech
You're welcome. Tbh, I'm not either, lol. But I got frustrated when my posts kept coming out all squashed up so I experimented.
Great post! I stopped eating processed food and food with chemicals. Anti inflammatory diet. Feel a lot better. We also hike. Eat at home.
Great! Sounds like you're doing well. Would you please expound on the anti-inflammatory diet? I'm sure a lot of people could use that info. And I agree, cooking at home is definitely best. I remember reading somewhere (a long time ago) that the average American family spends 45% of its food budget eating out!
*Pray *Family *Work *Sleep *Easy on the alcohol *Eat healthy *Exercise
And remember too also have fun!
Build a habit of all those things daily and things will fall into place.
Good advice. Daily consistency is the key. Thanks.
21 days alcohol free and I’m honestly loving it. Will never go back to the nightly beers and wine. The effects of that were so negative, I just mistakenly thought I needed it every night to “take the edge off”. Nah. Was just falling into dependency. Fck that poison! Not a single morning has gone by where I said “Damn where’s my hangover? Sure wish I had tied one on last night”… Plus there’s 1000 liquid calories I’m not mindlessly consuming.
Also quit coffee a week or so before that, though it wasn’t really intentional, I just finally gave into the ubiquitous MUD/WATR ads and ordered some and love it. Super tasty and healthy and coffee was easily replaced. Nothing against coffee at any rate. Trying to stick with KaChava shakes for lunch more days than not as well. Yeah yeah these companies are owned and operated by tree hugging man bun wearing hippie types, but those guys know their shit when it comes to superfoods and micronutrients etc. plus they taste great and fill me up and are only 200 calories for a giant blender cup full.
Now that I’m taking score, I also inadvertently gave up all porn. Again wasn’t really intentional, just kinda happened a couple months back. Just totally lost interest 🤷. This might be more of a late 40s lowered libido/low T thing. This is one sacrifice I’m not as thrilled with lol. Hoping things will level out in this area after some sober time under my belt.
I’m the chef/cook of the household trying to make meals for two extremely picky kids and a dedicated vegan wife and myself. Personally I’d LOVE to do keto but….yeah. Love my wife with all my heart but we’re on different pages on a couple things. Me trying to change her mind has the opposite effect about 98% of the time lol. Trusting she’ll come around in her own time and in the meantime I enjoy a mostly peaceful household. I get my animal protein in when I can w/out the judgement. All in all I’m a garbage disposal anyway and have no problem enjoying vegan meals. I make ‘em pretty damn good. You can do a ton with lentils, beans, saytan and yeah tofu as well.
Still 30lbs fatter than I should be so the plan is since I’ve quit the sauce, coffee, quitting nicotine etc…might as well get off my ass and get myself back into some kinda shape. I don’t do gyms but I can do push-ups, crunches, dips and planks. Got a peloton sitting here collecting dust as well.
So, not yet quite where I’d like to be but headed in the right direction for sure 👍
Great post! Thank you! So glad you've made some significant progress. And it seems like it's been relatively easy, as well. Lucky you! I've never heard of Mudwater, will have to look that up. I wonder if you'd be willing to post some of these amazing vegan recipes you mentioned. I love my meat, but I also love veggies and probably a lot of people could do with eating more veg, so maybe some good recipes would inspire them. Here's to saying goodbye to that extra 30 as easily as you said goodbye to the booze and other stuff. And personally, I think you're far better off without the porn, and I bet you wife prefers it that way too. Thanks again for the post!
You know, I usually just look up recipes online for ideas and will just tweak things to “veganize” it. I make a lot of “meal salads”…just huge and fully loaded. For protein I’ll use chickpeas, black/red/white beans, hemp hearts, walnuts/almonds/whatever. There’s plenty of decent meat alternatives out there for burgers, chicken, brats, sausages etc. some contain soy, some don’t…it’s all preference. Lots of pasta dishes made with either real pasta or chickpea or yellow pea pasta if you’re watching the carbs. Nice homemade tomato basil garlic sauce. Jackfruit makes a great pulled pork alternative for bbq type meals. Saytan or “wheat meat” for deli style meats like turkey, corned beef etc. and then on occasion I’ll throw some beautiful ny strips on the grill and get waaay in touch w/ my carnivorous side.
Yeah look up mudwater (I think it’s actually “mud/watr” or something like that). It’s made of several beneficial mushrooms, masala chai, cinnamon and cacao. It tastes rich, earthy, slightly spicy, slightly sweet/chocolate-y. I find it delicious. It gives great, clean energy in the morning w/out the caffeine jitters and crash.
Kinda odd to talk about but who cares… the wife never minded the porn thing - we’d watch it together! Nothing twisted or sick or deranged, just couples having fun. My libido just suddenly vanished. No more porn or anything else for that matter 🤷 I’m pushing 50 so apparently it’s “normal” but I suspect my bad habits (drinkin and smokin) weren’t doing me any favors at this point. Hoping to see improvement uh…down there, as I regain a healthier lifestyle. And that’s a little about me lol.
All of that sounds tasty to me. I'm not into the vegan thing at all, but I do appreciate good, clean veggies dishes. I'll check out the mudwah thing. Sounds interesting. And it's too bad that the threads got shut down. I was already learning a lot. C'est la gaw.
I love MUD WATR
Stuff’s great! Nice clean energy. KaChava too. Something like 80+ superfoods in it.
Sounds idyllic.
I have been "healthy" since 2018 when I lost all my excess weight and recovered my health. I learned most of the protocol from other anons and mainly Dr. Mercola. My daily routine is like this:
Additionally, I have a headstand coffee enema every third day. After it, I used prebiotics and probiotics, and Kefir. I sleep on an earthing/grounded bead setup. I use psilocybin microdoses, maha ganja in drops, and vaporized. I take testosterone supplements, adaptogens, and a sustained Zelenko protocol in low doses. I dance to keep happy and connected to my inner passions and trust my gut. I no longer have to take anxiety or depression or any other medications.
Wiow, wow, wow! This is interesting! So happy you got off those nasty meds and took control of your health. How much weight did you lose? That is quite a daily routine you go through. Would you please expound on it? You mentioned things I've never heard of. If you can, when you have the time, please go through your list and explain each thing more, in detail. I'm sure a whole lot of people would love to know more. Thanks so much and congratulations on such a big liefstyle improvement.
