And don't it just break your achy heart (speakin of trash that helped start corporate country). Al
And I blame Garth for my girlfren making me get my first & only pair of shit kickers so I could go to line dancing class @ the Grizzly Rose every Sun nt
live his studio.. couple of dogs listening in.... deer stand in the background and a humble man singing from the soul and awakening the pain in all of us seeing out country turning to shit.
I’ve been trying to figure out why this song is resonating so much. In the 100 times I’ve listened to it…
raw talent. Great voice. Stripped down, intimate communication in poetry and song.
raw TRUTH. There is nothing untrue in that song. There is the illicit power in saying things out loud that aren’t “allowed” to be said.
smart lyrical writing. Tightly written. Double entendres (miner vs minors). Rich men and Richmond. Contrasting the real poor with the poor in the US…the only poor in the world who are obese.
—this lyric gets the most heat—but it’s true also. Why are hostess chocolate mini donuts EBT eligible or WIC eligible? Because it’s not about feeding people. It’s all a big trough feed. Government and big Ag and food science getting people hooked on toxic shit. Keep ‘em fat and stooopid. Spy on them constantly. Show them what to think and believe. Control.
4)he shouts out the lie…that our betters want to know everything about our behaviors, in order to control us better, and they take us all for chumps. But we know what they are doing.
the “wasting my life away” lyric at the beginning really hits hard. Watched a lot of young guys and their reaction videos…you just don’t get it at twenty or even towards 30. But time is fleeting, and that makes life bittersweet.
don’t know if widely known about the story behind this. Oliver got down on his knees in desperation, at the end of his rope, and even though he wasn’t necesssrily a religious man, he prayed to God that if God would help him find a way to follow his dream…he would get sober.
Within 30 days this session was recorded on his property.
It sure seems like God had a hand in giving this man a way to help bring people together. The beauty and truth in this song is pure.
Pray that God graces him with strength during this time where his circumstances change drastically and he becomes famous. I believe an important message is coming through this man.
The vocal performance really hits and you can tell looking at him that he feels every bit of what he sings. A mix of anger, frustration, sadness, but also strength and hope. It's where a lot of people are at right now.
Also a big shout out to radiowv for doing an excellent job of capturing his voice on that recording, getting an effective and natural angle on the video (looking up so we can see the details of the pain in his face, handheld vs. tripod, him not looking at the camera directly) and basically nullifying the need for an artificial new take down the line.
It turns the song into a sort of confessional that we are witness to. Made all the more potent because we are all party to these "sins".
The video and performance are perfect as is. Hope he stays away from Nashville and the big-stage lifestyle.
It's just something about those guys from Appalachian for me. I listen to a few from mainly Kentucky. Ten years ago I would not have listened because it's too bluegrass.
I find inspiration from those that don't conform to today's template. The idea, the simple idea folks, that WE as individuals have the power to influence, in a positive way, today's youth and do our level best to get them to stop hating themselves and their own Country. It was America's greatness that made it a target, oh and what a target it is.
I find inspiration in YOU. Each and every single Anon on here that carries the message and helps enlighten those that are lost in the dark. Ohhh it's a damn shame, what has become of our youth. Keep up the good fight pedes.
A couple things hit hard for me... Waking up wishing it's not true, but it is, "oh it is.." The tone, inflection and cadence of how it comes across speaks volumes. As if your best bud was telling you something as a matter of fact. It's just dead on perfect.
The other part is an old soul in the new world. That really resonated with me... because there's just so much bullshit on every single facet of life and we all know damn right well, it doesn't have to be like that. So much suffering and strife could be avoided if we didn't play these stupid games.
Are you talking about a specific thing on John Rich? A few people I know thinks he's bad. IDK! I can't dismiss someone for supporting McCain. I voted for him because he was lesser of the two evils. I never trusted Palin. The Bush's suckered me big time. Red flag Billy Ray Cyrus & I see is he's been involved in a lot of "talent" shows like American Idol. But two people I listen to a lot came through Idol and Nashville Star and they don't seem bought.
This and the success of SoF shows me that many are waking up. That the mainstream media and entertainment industry are losing their control.
I guess they expected us to just shut up and take their abuse. Well, that can only happen for so long. At some point, a tire can only take a certain amount of air. And then it bursts! There will be more like him that'll follow.
I feel like my brain is broken because I don't really see the appeal here. I mean I'm glad the message is solid and the guy seems great, but maybe I just don't have the attention span for acoustic anything, lol.
I get that. I love music but always hated acoustic music. Probably from listening to rock so long. After seeing a few artists sing acoustic I'm into, not every day. This style of old school country mixed with bluegrass isn't easy to jump into. It took me years before I would give them a chance. If it's not for you that's cool. We are all different especially in musical taste.
both songs result in onions being finely diced! when i think of those men that fought against England for our FREEDOM... I can picture men like these fighting for their very existence against their enemies of us all.
This is what country music used to be.
Real people singing about real life -- not plastic songs about pick-up trucks and drinkin' beer.
Mainstream new country is absolute TRASH.
And don't it just break your achy heart (speakin of trash that helped start corporate country). Al

But Ford & Bud pay good $$ for making those songs... call it a 'Country Kickback'
We call it "Bro's and Ho's".
Listen to Bo Burnham’s song ‘pander in’
https://youtu.be/YWUQg0bqhVw
But only after listening to the above ten more times, not trying to take the deserved attention away from this post.
That made my day
Yeah Bo Burnham is a comical mastermind....too bad hes woke AF.
You can still find real country music it's just not on the radio. They are under Americana genre.
Lol Rolling Stone is already labeling it the new "RIGHT-WING" song.
https://archive.ph/dY8m4
What part of it is right wing exactly?

John Rich offered to produce an album for this guy
Watch out for that guy.. 🤣

Well, to be fair, that was before the great awakening and Trump. I give him a pass. I was a deluded demoncrat my whole life. We've all learned a lot.
Nope. Ron Paul woke me up in 2005.
Yes, many of us were sleeping until the last 10 years.

I don't have anything specific. Just looked him up and that picture came up pretty quickly so...
Thanks
Wow! I’ve heard of it.
I finally listened to it. Fantastic stuff.
Great song!
I have been selling my soul working all day. Overtime hours for bullshit pay.
Like, straight up the words taken right out of my heart daily.
Imma post this on FB and see if they ban me.
And see how many other folks block me
Media is already starting to label it a right-wing song.
Instant fan. This dude is going places.

Bless you! Singing for the masses!
Even the dogs agree.
great song - guy has talent
Watch Budweiser offer the guy 100 million for the song. It’s their eureka moment.
Love it
Wow, so much passion and what a great, honest song. My type of sound.
Good song!
What a song.
Gonna get accused of being a racist in 3.....2.....1.....
This song kicks ass... where do i pre-buy the album... patron? Other?
He just became famous, so probably not ready yet. Perhaps you can buy it on iTunes?
goddamn his voice is incredible, as are the lyrics and raw passion god damn
FYI- There are dozens of other great songs posted by RadioWV if you dig this! Check em out.
Very Nice!
Really great song. Dude has some pipes. Love is voice.
Living in the new world with an old soul…that’s the one that gets me. He’s so talented
Beautiful.
Real Talk!
At the very least it is a good way to distinguish between fren and non-fren. I urge everyone to find frens and avoid non-frens.
This could be our new anthem frens https://youtube.com/watch?v=AJiq8bAroKI&feature=share9
That is a 100% Certified USDA Banger
Very clean performance.

Yea i get that, in not a music person.. its his sincerity and pain that comes through.. listen with your eyes closed and focus on the words...
Some music is melody, some is performance, others are message...
This is the latter...

"old school country mixed with bluegrass"
I always call it "folk" music
this guy hits home so hard.... like Chris Stapletons National Anthem for the most recent superb-owl.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFKXJ091Ed4
