In my opinion, our political leaders should be mentally normal, largely from middle-class backgrounds (success in business that enabled them to rise above, most welcome) non-blue-city-programmed and ideally family-types who are mentally stable and who understand the struggles facing the average American. Breaking the career politician game is imperative, with term limits disabling lifelong grifters from the grift. It's also critical that we rebuild the national political machine so WE vote on critical issues at the state level, then our elected representatives carry our votes to Congress. The whole mess of the grifters being paid off to vote how their bribers tell them to is a tremendous sham and has nothing to do with our Founding Fathers' intent.

Agree or disagree that it's a problem, if it is, then it is a "force of nature" at the end of the day and we should adapt to it, not spend finite resources to combat it.
You don't solve climate change with $$$$$/taxes or useless regulations that handicap the US economy, since those policies do not reach the vastly larger contributors to pollution.
If Trump's administration can wrest out foreign influence via NGOs, America will slowly flip to small nuclear and a more efficient electrical/water/travel grid anyway. Today's status quo is frustrating American infrastructural development until it rots.
