Well, I will humbly disagree. Not that I know all the crazy goings on behind the scenes, but if it were to force their hand that he was already dead, they would have had him die right before Vance got there and not shown photos of the meeting. I'm not Catholic, but the Bible and all gospels clearly say it happened from Friday - Sunday. The part that usually gets people messed up is how the Jews calculated their days because they count them differently than ours and even Jesus said there were 12 hours in a day.

Jesus replied, “There are twelve hours in the day, aren’t there? If anyone walks during the day he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world. But if anyone walks at night he stumbles, because the light is not in him.” These were the things he said. - John 11:9-11

Now when the sixth hour had come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?” which is translated, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”- Mark 15:33-34

If you want to figure it out then you'll have to pay attention to how the Jews kept track of the days. But it does work out and Jesus did do what He said He was going to do.

But I do agree with you that churches and their leaders (not just Catholics) push Easter and the Easter Bunny and eggs and candy and crap more than Jesus. That gets it's own rabbit hole though (excuse my pun but I had to ;) )
