Also, the original Constitution is written in cursive. They don’t want people to be able to read the Constitution as it was originally written.

There's also a reason the penmanship was so great. The ink quill. I've tried writing with one. It's difficult and slow. Ballpoint pens made it smooth, printers eliminated the need to learn to write. If I write slow, my penmanship is spot on!

What is "manuscript", which if you decode it means hand writing.

permalink parent save report block reply

Manuscript is what my son’s Montessori teacher from a few years back called the method of non-cursive handwriting.

My children were taught some awful mish mash of cursive and printing, I don't remember what it was called. One of them taught herself cursive because she thought their method was stupid.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 6 ▼
– Rooks 6 points 4 years ago +6 / -0

Most penmanship these days is a bastardisation of print and cursive. Specifically, parts of cursive as it relates to speed, and print for anything more difficult to recognize than a 'c' or 'e'. Hybrid 'd', print r, s, z, etc.

The end result is about as bad as you would expect.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– scoripowarrior 1 point 4 years ago +1 / -0

In my experience, by the time most kids get to 5th 6th grade, they have stylized their handwriting/printing. Many HS kids use a mix of cursive/printing.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼

"Manuscript" is what the kids learn as "printing". Cursive is called..."cursive".

▲ 1 ▼

My Mom and I both had dyslexia and although we had trouble learning once we did we could also read upside down just as fast. I loved messing with my teachers as they walk up and down the isles while we took turns reading. The first time she saw me reading out loud with my book upside down and wanted to know what I was doing. I played dumb and said I thought it was supposed to be that way.

At least you made the effort when it was not pushed in a lesson plan. I went go school mostly in the 80's and you could fail without being able to write in cursive. I was lucky because my mother had beautiful cursive had writing and she taught me well. No offense ment here but can you read an analog clock? Apparently that is a rare thing in the under 30 crowd too. I'm guessing you can because just the fact that you are here and awake puts you light years ahead of you're generation.

Maybe we went to school at similar times, but for us, we were told almost daily in elementary school that the adult world uses cursive and when we got to Jr. high school, we would need to do EVERYTHING in cursive, so it's SUPER IMPORTANT to do EVERYTHING in cursive.

Then, when we got to jr. high, the teachers there specifically told us that it's hard to read, and not to use it ever. High school... same thing.

I always wondered what was up with the elementary school teachers making such a big deal about it only for it to be entirely dropped the moment we left elementary school.

permalink save report block reply
▲ 6 ▼
– yeldarb1983 6 points 4 years ago +6 / -0

Could be, could be a lot less nefarious as well. Could simply be it wasn't seen as important with the advent of computers. This is kind of a chicken/egg thing, honestly. Keep in mind that OCR algorithms can only read printed text, because they've been trained to do so for the last decade or so, but with cursive being downplayed, the need to program computers to understand it likely also became less important.

...Kinda makes me wonder if it wouldn't be worth it to pick up American Shorthand...

▲ 5 ▼

Lazy teachers, poor budgeting on the school's part, etc.

Also, digital clock readouts are everywhere, so even if kids are taught it, it doesn't stick, because they don't need it badly enough to learn it.

No Bad Behavior!

No doxing, including revealing personal information of non-public figures, as well as addresses, phone numbers, etc. of public figures. All GAW users must adhere to the highest standards of conduct, whichever .WIN they are on. If we are notified by other moderators of incivil behavior on other .WINs, you WILL be banned here!

Civil Discussion ONLY**

They want you divided.

They want you labeled by race, religion, class, sex, etc.

Divided you are weak [no collective power].

Divided you attack each other and miss the true target [them].

No PAYtriots/No Self Promotion

Linking or promoting merchandise, fundraising, or spamming personal websites, blogs, or channels is not permitted. Do not attempt to profit from Q or advertise for those who do. Peace is the prize. We do it for free.

Questions and Concerns

All moderation questions and concerns should be submitted via modmail. DO NOT GRIEF the mods.

Expand your thinking

Remember, this .WIN is the public face of the Great Awakening, and, as a member here, you agree to represent the Great Awakening movement against Globalism, Communism and Progressive Insanity in the best, most positive way possible. NOTE: Your comments and posts may become news. Keep it classy!

This is not a 'fringe conspiracy' site: Visit https://conspiracies.win if that's your thing!

No doomers or shills

If you can't use common sense, you'll get banned without hesitation. If you're a shill, you fall under this rule. If you're a doomer, you fall under this rule as you just add garbage to the site like the other two. This includes forum sliding.

General Rules

  • Mods will issue NO warnings, followed by temporary bans and/or permanent bans. DO NOT GRIEF THE MODS.

  • Keep posts related to topics Q has raised or that are current.

  • Memes encouraged, but no low-quality, low-info posts.

  • Keep it honest and accurate.

  • GAW Supporters ONLY. (Sorry, the train had no brakes.)

  • Handshake noobs will be scrutinized by their Q knowledge, sincerity, and respect.

  • Remember, your conduct here represents the Q movement! OUR ENEMIES ARE WATCHING!

  • Please direct all complaints to modmail first!
