My son was in public school, 2nd grade at the time, and was enrolled in an EBD program (emotional behavioral development) because he was a little unruly. With this, he had a daily report sheet sent home with teacher comments for each period. He would bring this home each day and then we were required to sign and return it with him the next day.
One day the report came home and showed that he had been sent to the ‘naughty room’ because he Had fashioned some makeshift paper gun and was chasing another little boy around and had said, “I’m going to kill you!” - obviously not literally but just playing. I signed and responded in the parent comment section, “This has been addressed at home. I told Brady that if he ever did that again that I would kill him”
In some areas, that can get CPS or DYFS give you some real trouble.
My give a shit button was broken and we subsequently pulled him out and that was the beginning our homeschooling adventure. We have done the last 3 that way as well.
As it turned out whoever read the parent responses actually replied on the next days EBD report saying they understood it was a joke and that they all had a terrific laugh over it - but yeah, my wife said the same thing before I sent it in.

I remember in highschool civics class we watched CNN every day. Everyone enjoyed it cause we got to watch tv instead of learn. If only i knew then what i know now. For reference this was maybe 10 years ago i dread to imagine what they do to kids now

Yeah, I sometimes use videos to supplement my lessons, but it's always o. Topic and non political. I don't teach social studies, though, so "current events" or whatever is used as a conduit for fake news isn't in my purview.
Some districts issue white listed websites and sources that you can use for your lessons. I'm not sure about the specifics in this case, but she may be doing "everything right" by her district and to that extent, the district views this as the equivalent of behaving that way in an algebra class or any other class.
How about teaching kids critical thinking, and how to dissect propaganda.
They forced us to watch it in highschool civics class everyday. This was 10 years ago. A decade of children have been taught by CNN.

They started forcing CIA propaganda onto school children via Channel One in the 90s, Anderson Poopshooter, Lisa Ling (of the Podesta Pizza email fame), plus other MTV Veejays, Serena Alschual ( interesting history), etc. Highschoolers were subjected to this in homeroom in many private schools, including my own. Were public schools also pumping Channel One propaganda into schools? I assume they were, the contracts would be very revealing. I have no doubt there were large payments made to subject students to this propaganda. In my school, we ignored it, were never forced to listen and the majority tuned it out while catching up on homework or chilling with friends. The idea that children are being punished for tuning out propaganda in the the classroom is infuriating and the school officials need to be, not only fired, but face criminal charges, endangering by the welfare of a minor and possible federal charges for treason.
Yes, I remember Channel One being played at my public school during homeroom for only one year when I was in 8th grade. I’m not sure what happened to it after that but I do remember a scene with AC reporting on a story while sitting in a boat.
