Its almost like people just dont want to think for themselves. Like im sure youve told them all about googles problems but they simply dont care because google is the default browser and anything default cant be bad or malevolent. At this point id just swap the default browser on them and see how they react.
i also installed Brave while i was there so they could use that instead of chrome and edge (but again likely they reverted back to habit)....unfortunately i live a couple thousand miles away from them so not much else i can do
SwissCows is my default but use Yandex for translation needs and do searches on Qwant and Yandex if my search contains swear words or something else flagged by SwissCows.
As an example of what I mean, this is what happens if you search for "boobs" on SwissCows-
No results found for "boobs"
Dear user,
search results for the query "boobs" may contain violence and pornographie.
Since we have decided on the protection of minors, the search for this query is disabled.
Thank you very much for your understanding!
Searches for Fuck Joe Biden used to be blocked by SwissCows, but I just checked and they're working now.
Your search query is not only secure, but also anonymized. The search query runs through “premise servers” that are owned and managed by Startpage where: 1) servers are located in locked cabinets, 2) data personnel can’t log in and 3) only non-US Startpage administrators manage the servers to prevent any potential gag orders. It’s at this stage where we remove all identifying information from your search including your IP address. This means Google only ever sees Startpage, not the individual user.
Leave it to Startpage & Google:
Consider Startpage your middleman. Any search query you make gets sent to a cloud server that doesn’t know you and communicates with Google. Search results are then returned to “premise servers” that are locked in cabinets, rather than going directly to your browser. This middle step better protects you by hiding you behind this privacy wall. We partner with Google because they have the industry’s best search technology compared to Yahoo or BING (which are widely used by other private search engines).
I use yandex for russian content. It's super easy to use a translation service or even learn russian these days and tho it takes a little effort you really can get around anything if your motivated enough.
If you're willing to put in the time, learning any language is much easier these days thanks to the Internet.
I studied Spanish for 4 years, and French for 1 year in high school, and 1 year of Spanish and German in college.
As a comparison, I studied Italian online.
While I can't speak Italian very well because I haven't practiced it enough, my reading and listening comprehension is roughly on a 6th grade level. In other words, I can read a newspaper article and get the gist of it without having to use a translation service.
Just a few days ago, I translated an Italian meme I came across and posted it-
It wasn't perfect, but close enough. I think I missed "Di Oggi" which would have translated as Today's and guessed Annegando meant drowning from the context.
Works great for non Russian content too, you just have to click the sliders symbol to the right of SEARCH and select English and repeat the search(doesn't show up until after you have done a search)
People always suggest ddg but I’ve never had much luck using it, personally I found it to be equally as bad as Google. I’ve been using gibiru and ecosia
It used to be a lot better so I get why pedes stuck with it so long. Anyone who does actual digging would know better tho. Simple keyword searches for significant events used to work in Google. Then they got censored/scrubbed. Then DDG would find those results for you until those got censored/scrubbed. Now if it's not on Yandex it's gone.
They have officially declared disinformation to be anything, true or false, that doesn't support the narrative they want pushed. So by their retarded definition, verifable facts can be considered misinformation. Honk honk.
For that matter, I hate that these idiots think they get to decide and define what words mean
When i tell people "theyre literally changing words in the dictionary" they say "oh well words change over time thats normal!". They dont realize that by changing definitions they can manipulate how laws are passed.
When they start changing legal definitions, we'll have real problems. Black's Law Dictionary is a must for non-lawyers (lawyers too) to understand legalese.
I'm surprised anyone got that reference.
Yes, Marshall Mathers II replaced the term 'buffalo gals' to 'trailer park girls'
because he was hipped to the meme.
Buffalo gals were camptown ladies.....doo dah......doo dah....
Prostitutes who were required to hang outside the camp ......except in the case of General Hooker who allowed them in the camp, hence the term "Hookers".
The lefties see themselves as abused prostitutes .......because they are. LOL
The disenfranchised, who "go round the outside' of the walls.......or underground. In fact, this is what the name 'Castro' means.
Outside the castle walls.
Buffalo Gals was a hilarious episode on Adult Swim showing the Buffalo Gals as lesbian buffalos.
Oh.....and that name............Marshall as first name (who does this?) Mathers as last......
Funnily Yandex is a Russian search engine and back when Goolag was Google and actually a functioning search engine they had difficulty filtering out porn from the search results, and current Yandex has the same exact problem as google back when google actually worked...
Back in the Windows 98 and Windows 2000 days, I had a program called Copernic 2000 Pro I downloaded from some warez site (somebody here may remember FOSI) and it was fantastic.
It performed searches by checking multiple search engines and prorating the results.
All the results were stored locally and you could check out the results at your leisure.
Really miss that and haven't found anything similar for either Linux or Windows since.
This seems like a good time to point out that Duck Duck Go:
Is the crappiest of the crappy search engines from the perspective of actually returning quality results pertinent to keywords used
Has the worst branding of any product or service in recent memory
Is no more "based" than Google or any other shit-tier shill corporation
Chose a name for their search engine that is impossible to use as a verb, demonstrating a level of stupidity that immediately disqualifies them from being any sort of authority, especially on anything involving WORDS
Is it time to fully commit to brave search? Might still be in beta and boy did it suck when it first launched but I think it's had a year so far to work out the kinks.
hmmm what is the founders last name? hahaha was there any doubt?
What h doing is Definitely not kosher

duck duck GONE
yeah i've actually been using Qwant for some time, myself. I recently had finally convinced my parents to try duckduckgo instead of google....
Isnt it weird how difficult it is to get people to use something other than google?
Not when you consider that using other search engines is like using a stapler to pound in nails, while Google is the hammer.
yeah and chances are that as soon as i left they reverted back to the old way...sigh
Its almost like people just dont want to think for themselves. I Qwant everything!
I’m a 100% complete technomoronica.
How do I change my search engine on my phone? When I go to the settings it only gives me four choices, google, bing, yahoo and ddg.
I use https://swisscows.com , https://qwant.com and https://yandex.com

I was just going to ask an alternative search engine! So, ThanQ fren!
Start Page uses Google's engine.

Um, ‘WeinBERG’. People thought a Weinberg was on our side?
Ezra Cohen Watnick is on our side
Once people said that Bill Barr was on our side.
Lol

It's easy to learn russian?
This guy has never tried to learn Russian, это я могу тебе сказать.

Thanks for the tip, I forgot about Yandex
People always suggest ddg but I’ve never had much luck using it, personally I found it to be equally as bad as Google. I’ve been using gibiru and ecosia
Duckduckgone is orders of magnitude worse than google in my experience at returning relevant results to search terms.
never heard of Gibiru. Seems to work great so far.
I now have to uninstall ddg and find another. How’s brave?
And who the hell gave any company the right to determine what is “disinformation”? I can’t believe how much that pisses me right off!
I switched to Brave some time ago and like it.
DDG is a search engine and Brave is a web browser, but totally agree with your point.
Brave has a search engine now too FYI.
Thanks, wasn't aware of this and I use Brave every single day.
I just wanted to differentiate that a search engine is a completely different animal than a web browser.

No worries, just wanted to let you know! I'm switching to it myself after this situation.
Very helpful, I keep forgetting this.
Weinberg ..... what else ...
I hate that word: "disinformation".
For that matter, I hate that these idiots think they get to decide and define what words mean. 😖😖

One of them supporting nazis. I have seen everything
One of their main groups has the word nazi right in the name.
Give me a name and I'll tell you where you live.
The name Duck Duck Go isn't from a child's game.
It's also isn't a decent name for a search engine.
It's a comm or euphemism for being undercover.
Anyone remember a statement made by a U.S. Marshall after discovering the sniper "Muhammed Malvo" and his young 'spotter' just after 9/11?
"The ducks are on the pond."
It was a comm to call off the doppleganger. A method of operation.
Malcolm McClaren was a huge player of the cabal within the avante gard.
He had an album called Duck Rock and another called Duck For The Oyster.
All comm language like Beefheart's "Ice Cream for Crow" for those who know.
Because "Buffalo gals go round the outside, round the outside, round the outside" (A McClaren song reference to the underworld )
Duck and Cover
Other than that, the name Gabriel Weinberg might've been a big tell.
:)
Hm so that's what Eminem was referencing.
I'm surprised anyone got that reference. Yes, Marshall Mathers II replaced the term 'buffalo gals' to 'trailer park girls' because he was hipped to the meme.

Each one of these names has a history and current rep.
Funnily Yandex is a Russian search engine and back when Goolag was Google and actually a functioning search engine they had difficulty filtering out porn from the search results, and current Yandex has the same exact problem as google back when google actually worked...
If Yandex can show something something vaguely truthful than the occasional porn result is a sacrifice I'm willing to make.
Might want to look into this search engine.
Just started using it.
Let me know if you find any evidence of censoring etc.
https://www.mojeek.com/
Brave also has a search engine but it's not great. Too new, but with usage it can improve.
So weird when this guy could not find the war: https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1500175827161554946.html
Welp, so much for that. "I can control what you see." Well then fuck you.
None of the internet search engines are overly good.
That's it for me then, it was pretty bad anyway. Showing dated info on most issues. What should I switch to?
He is not aware of the bio labs CIAmerica simply can't let fallen into Russian hands?

I switched to Qwant over a year ago
DDG has been ultra left for a while. Don't trust them.
https://lulz.com/community/thread/social-experiment-duckduckgo-hiring-racial-discrimination/
They have an ultar-SJW hiring practice.
Why would they have to do that, specifically? If they're built on top of Bing (and they are), that shit would already be happening.
Been using Yandex.com for years.
You're welcome.
I like how twitter is like 80% based now. Hahaha this guy is getting destroyed. What a little worm.

Every
Amazon Web Servers, Bing backed searches, ads on billboards across major cities. It is a real shame because going back to goolag isn't an option.

Alternatives?
That ratio tho.
cope + seethe + dilate + ratio
it's the fox news of search engines.
