I also imagine no plastic surgeon could be paid enough to alter someone's skull in a way that would weaken it, because the bone would need to be ground off to change the shape. Would it grow back anyway?

The real dig should be to find the earliest shot of Biden in his current state and the latest shot of "original" Biden. If it's only a few weeks between them it lends credence to the possibility of an actor in the role. If it's years though it's open to doubt.

Jo An Rivers had a ton of plastic surgery and it took years to change her face as much as she did. You could still recognize her even after all that.
Biden is suddenly different by 2012. There are no records of him taking a year long sabbatical as VP to alter his face that much. It still wouldn't be enough to change it that dramatically.
And she wore her makeup really thick. I once stood next to her and couldn't see any actual skin on her face. It was just layers of paint.
FYI she has been sighted alive with plastic surgery "undone". She was getting in a limo with friends. Her voice absolutely exposed her. Why they wanted her out of the public eye I do not know.

A facelift can only do so much. I've seen many of them, they don't drastically altar the face (or bone structure). Reconstructive surgery? Yes, but those are normally done after some catastrophic injury.

It was extremely common in decades past for politicians (and celebrities, and regular people who could afford it) to have VERY white, fake looking veneers/caps/crowns put on to make a big, wide, white smile.
It is also extremely common now for those same people to have those big white veneers/caps/crowns removed, and replaced with more modern looking veneers/caps/crowns. That old style of big, ultrawhite teeth is very dated, and now makes people appear older, because that tooth cap style is pegged to the 70s/80s decades.
Anyone who wants to look younger today gets rid of those old style teeth and replaces them with a toned down shade of white.
At Biden's age, they are as likely to be dentures as they are veneers/caps/crowns.

IMHO at this point it's less of a stretch to conclude it's an impostor than that a public persona who had brilliant white teeth suddenly had them removed.
What you call extremely common I call something neither I nor anyone in my family nor anyone I've discussed this with has ever heard of, and I've had lots of dental work in my 60 years. So maybe we'll have to track down the guy's dentist and ask him. ;)

Regarding your first link, the photo on the right -- the man does not have his false teeth in, nor is his hair combed. This, alone, will make a big difference in his appearance, just to be fair.
The top photo is what happens when you take out someone's false teeth. The bottom photos are what happens when you have drastic weight loss. My father never had dementia, but looked like the top photo when he took his teeth out. My mother did have dementia and looked essentially the same until she lost a lot of weight.

To me the easiest to spot difference is the bags under the eyes on the real Old Joe. Just look at the right-hand picture on that image. On the double the under-eye area is entirely different. Also the real Joe seems to have more of a squarish orientation and harder looking face. The more you look for it the easier it is to spot.
The assumption that imposter Joe was controlled by the Democrats may be false, or no longer true. The original imposter may also have been replaced with a new imposter.
Pure speculation on my part, but in light of the idea of such an imposter existing without detection being preposterous, what if the Democrats installed an original imposter in 2012, and the military (or whichever special secretive group) replaced the imposter with their own imposter later?
