One room at a time fren. Don't demo everything everywhere unless the place is going to be empty start to finish. If you are living in the construction zone, keep the chaos to one room at a time-kitchen first.
I've done three full remodels. Never taken this advice myself, have regretted it every time. Be smarter than me lol.
We can’t do an entire remodel- now that I’m hearing this I think you are insane!! We’re doing (getting it done really) the kitchen and refinishing all the floors on the lower level. The kitchen is where I spend most of my time.... meals for family made with real food. It will be difficult- but the end result will be glorious.
Pray with me that the SHTF doesn’t happen in the middle!!
Depending on what you're doing, I hope you've ordered material far out. I'm building a house right now. My appliances all purchased and in storage. Windows 10 weeks out now, but on order. You'd be surprised what is being affected by supply chain issues.
We went with a designer who has (supposedly) taken care of that. Cabinets due in two weeks... appliances already ready for us. I’m 100% sure we’ll get caught by something......
Have you read it yet ? R u in SD ? We must make time to get together, don't u have BD coming up ? Or did I miss it ? I know I didn't get party invite this year lol
did G tell you I finally got my approval, I don't have permits in hand but I can start demo wth I submitted in Dec.
Shouldn't everyone be on the same version? If doing an audiobook, then we'd want the physical copy that matches chapter to chapter, otherwise the content each week won't match up.
I think it may be advantageous to have several versions discussed. We can compare. I wonder what was cut, and why? For me it comes down to time. 20 hours vs 80 hours.
Oh my goodness. I downloaded a three volume audio book last year. I just checked and the total length of the 86 MP3 files is 3 days, 3 hours, 30 minutes, and 03 seconds long. (All those 3's are not my fault!) So far, I've only listened to bits and pieces due to time constraints.
Time permitting I do intend to listen to the entire book but I'll have to sit out at least the first session of the new book club, which has My complete and total endorsement.
Similarly, I'm going to attempt to start with this one, but I don't know if I can guarantee my participation immediately. Life-stuff is picking up right about now...
I'm in - just read it a couple of months ago... looking forward to the discussion!
Maybe the abridged version could be allowed... otherwise, it is a very long read!
No no no Bible has no sequel. Great book but let's not be little the power and uniqueness of bible. I'm guessing your joking which is fine. In case your not though I had to say this. God bless u you
Would love to but I just started God's Bankers by Gerald Posner. It's about "A history of money and power at the Vatican". Should be right up an anon's alley. It'll take me a month + to read since I'm already reading everything else as well. Not enough hours in a day!
Reminds me of that Twilight Zone episode about the guy who just wanted to be left alone to read, he is the only surviver in a world collapse and he is so happy that he NOW has time to read all he wants. He then discovers his glasses are broken. I was so afraid that would happy to me. That's why I had laser surgery ears ago!!
I dont have the time to read the book with u. I have read almost all of it before though. Can u tag me so I can just observe and maybe share any thoughts that come..
👍 after work I'll go though and compile all the names. I'm stoked so many are feeling this. Pray I don't screw it up. I've never done a book club thingy before. I'm excited to go on this journey with you all.
I will pray for it and continue to pray as the study goes forward. Dont put to much pressure on yourself. The amazing thing is we dont all need to be or know everything. Just u taking the initiative to start it is huge. I'm sure the group will come up with some great stuff to pair with what ever God gives u. We will all grow together. God bless u for starting this friend. Even if nothing came from the study(which I doubt) getting everyone together like this brings unity. So the idea alone Is a win. I know you will do well friend. Just keep at it. I'm here if u ever need more prayer or just a friend to talk to
Any suggestions of where I could get the audiobook? I have actually never used any audiobook sites and prefer physical copies, but I won’t be able to get it shipped here and read by next week with all my family obligations. I’d like to join if I can get access to the book easily—sounds like an interesting book. I’m definitely interested by the anon book club idea!
Best book ever for people keen on learning economics.
There is also Human action By Ludwig von Mises, but that is a massive study with its 800+ pages of deeeeeep philosophiand epistemological subject of praxeology (the study of hiuman action).
Both will cure all sort of statism though, but if it is a deep infection, Human action might be a good second level purge after The Law.
Excellent idea. I purchased a three book set of first editions in hardcover. Cost me a bit but it is the most treasured item in my library. This is the perfect opportunity to get started.
My grandfather encouraged me to read it, as he gave me his copy. I still have it in plain sight first as a reminder of a great gentleman and grandfather. And 2nd as a reminder that freedom is not free.
Jusqua Porter la besace, was a slogan in the year 1581 AD to express the resolve to defend freedom against tyranny .
Translated lyrics (deepl.com) - original is in French:
(1) The testimony begins under the Siberian winter /
Minus fifty in the sun, which we rarely see /
Packed into a hutch for about twenty guys /
Suffocating, and dying, a good hundred Zeks, /
Lying on their fetid rotten boards /
Under the harsh, permanent, electric light /
Many succumb like this, their will broken /
They end up in the pit, like simple waste.
(2) The furniture reveals, of this strange structure, /
The organization, perhaps, even the culture /
Bunk beds, three levels of misery /
The least badly installed, upstairs in the cool, air, /
Those who are to the others, the guarantors of Hell /
Of the brutal Common Rights, additional torment /
They cheat, rob or rape, the others they despair /
They alone are those that one day the tyrants exonerate.
(3) On the lower floors, there are the activists /
Who sometimes, for nothing, an altruistic thought /
Find themselves propelled without unnecessary trial /
To the immense Archipelago, to the so disastrous islands /
Where suffering and exhaustion await them /
Humiliations, fatigue, abandonment and nothingness /
But even those of all are not the worst off /
Perhaps they will return in a few decades.
(4) Article 58 had foreseen the case /
Of innocent relations that, to "pass by", /
They are accused of the most vile complicity /
That ad vitam eternam, we send to the secret /
Lest they avenge their deported relatives /
That they have a grudge against the police state /
The Little Father Of The Peoples prefers to see them perish /
Those will never be let out.
(R) And you poor Antifa /
Breaker of swastikas /
Your hammer and sickle /
Proudly you brandish /
Screaming against the concentration camps /
And of social justice, wanting to be a paragon /
You don't know that it was Lenin, your mentor, your hero /
Who meticulously created these abominations.
Im ashamed to admit I didn't know it came in abridged and unabridged format. I've collected books for years as a hobby. I recall having a couple copies. All are assuredly abridged.
What is the time frame for this? I read it YEARS ago so I would probably need a library copy to read it again. And it is vacation time next week...otherwise interested.
SPOILERS:
For me, the saddest chapter was about youth in the camps. The female prisoners sold themselves to the guards and became pregnant, giving birth to children that would live most of their lives in these camps.
There, they would grow into criminals and steal the little food that was given to the prisoners from the elderly, causing the elderly to die of starvation.
Completely inhumane.
Talk to me Goose.....How does one join the book club?
I figure this works best if we give everyone time to get a copy delivered and tag people into book club threads who said they want in.

Add me... I'll do my best but we are about to step into a remodel so who knows what kind of fresh pain that will bring.
You’re fucked. Good luck.
Yes. It is feeling that way.

Oscillating tool & a Wonderbar (fantastic little crowbar with many ways to gain leverage) will be your best friends from my experience.
Enjoy the journey, it is worth it in the end :D

Man. This supply chain stuff sucks.
Yeah it does. Makes it very hard to conduct business - personal or professional.
Should we include people who listen to the audio book?
We coule gather more people in the group, and they'll probably comment anyways...
Heck yeah the audio book counts.
I'm hoping the point is discussing the ideas found in the work, not which version people get.
I'm all kinds of open to suggestions.
Book #2
If you haven't read it yet - do so now.
The Creature from Jekyll Island
It pretty much explains EVERYTHING.
I've been wanting to read this ! Thank You for the reminder I'm ordering it tonight !
Can you read it to me sissy? Heh he

I'm cool with Jekyll island being next.

My library has it on audiobook...! I’m ready!
I think usually the chapters will still align.... but you’re right, page numbers would be wildly different between versions of print.

The audio version is great, really adds some humor to the situation.
Hey fren, can you tell me why some of the names I tagged aren't working? I am a confusion. I've triple checked spelling and case.
U can only tag 3 names in a post or single comment. So if u wanna tag more u gotta start a cascade.
Cascade? What is, how do?
Basically u add 3 tags and hit enter. Then u go reply to your own comment and create what is called a cascade.
Thank you
Here is a visual example https://communities.win/c/TheDonald/p/15Ir6vDPwP/x/c

I can't commit right now, but I would like to be on the list for future reads. Great idea!
Similarly, I'm going to attempt to start with this one, but I don't know if I can guarantee my participation immediately. Life-stuff is picking up right about now...
Does anyone have a good audio book source? Im going to read it, but I want to provide something to those on the fence; thinking about it.
thank you!

Nice, but I should've specified - The Abridged Version
I'm in - just read it a couple of months ago... looking forward to the discussion! Maybe the abridged version could be allowed... otherwise, it is a very long read!
Abridged is the way to go. 👍
You want in? You can do the book on tape for all I care.
All the cool kids are doing it.
What language? That sounds cool?
You wrote in Korean.."I'll be on the roof if someone needs me???"
I am IMPRESSED!!

Or "reasons" if you're into the whole brevity thing.
It is. Read the unabridged. Abridged is for soy brains.
But are you gonna die? Make time. This is the Bible’s sequel.
No no no Bible has no sequel. Great book but let's not be little the power and uniqueness of bible. I'm guessing your joking which is fine. In case your not though I had to say this. God bless u you
Book of Mormon. Don’t be a bigot hahahaha

MSM those Trumpers are domestic terrorists! GA.win - hey guys let's start a book club. :)

I'll offer up a book that, if you have the patience to read through it, is what gave me some good fundamental insight on how DC works.
A foreign policy of Freedom: Peace, commerce, and honest friendship, by Ron Paul. It's a collection of some of his speeches on the house floor.
I read it years ago,do I need to read it again?
Do you want to read it again? I'm not really a "rules" guy.
I would, but we are working 10 hrs days 7 days a week at work. I will start reading it anyways, but doubt I finish it
Go for it. The more the merrier.
I have it on the shelf somewhere. I'll try to find a copy.
I don't check my highlights, but if I see the main post I'll hop in.
Awesome idea OP. Was just thinking about this book yesterday.
Perhaps through our discussion we can distill the essence of the story down into digestable bits for the anons on the go.
No pressure fren. Gists incoming.
More like guidelines. Arrrgggghhh.

Wow I better start listening now!! 70ish hours of reading! Haha thanks!
You're welcome. In the comments of the first part, a user breaks down with timestamps when each chapter starts
Haha this is unabridged but next week starts the first book club meeting. You don't need the full book read by then though even chapter 1 is long.
Kicking butt and taking names, you rock.
Tks.

I love Tolstoy, maybe I should join? How many pages long is the book vs the 3 separate volumes?
Abridged is 500, full is 2000.
So what are we reading? the full or abridged?
Abridged has been the general concensus.
One of the greatest books ever written.
22 hours long for the abridged version. Might as well start now I guess.
Great! Gulag Archipelago is first. I nominate 1984 for second.
Is there a second? ;)
Excellent idea. I purchased a three book set of first editions in hardcover. Cost me a bit but it is the most treasured item in my library. This is the perfect opportunity to get started.

I read the 900-pages summary a few years ago. I loved it.
Eventually, read One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by the same author if you’re afraid of how long it is (3000 pages!).
I wrote and recorded a song about the Archipel:
I want in
Wow, I just ordered this yesterday
YAS!
On it. Commenting to find later
I'll be following along!
Add me, please.
It's in 7 parts. That is a lot of reading in a week!
This link will let you either read or download a pdf: https://yes-pdf.com/book/716
Starts lol. Like chapter one.
So far I think everyone went with the abridged version. I know that's what I ordered last night after seeing the og OP's thread.
Im ashamed to admit I didn't know it came in abridged and unabridged format. I've collected books for years as a hobby. I recall having a couple copies. All are assuredly abridged.
Do we have to pay to join? Thank you.
What? No. Heck no. Future threads to be posted right here on greatawakening.win
Ok thank you. God bless you.
What is the time frame for this? I read it YEARS ago so I would probably need a library copy to read it again. And it is vacation time next week...otherwise interested.
I'm in, add me plz
I would like to be added to the group please
Is this club still going to be a thing? I am STILL waiting on a copy of the book to arrive for me!
Yes. Expect the first post tomorrow evening.
I received the wrong book in the mail on Tuesday so I started the abridged audiobook instead.
Already read it.

Didn’t read your comment completely, just the first line. If we start talking about it next week, please don’t spoil the book! Thanks.
I’ve been meaning to read it for years. I’m abroad on holidays, not sure I’ll be able to get a copy of it, but if I can, count me in!
