How many people in the US have seen Sound of Freedom??
GOOoOoooooooo!!!
We keep hearing about the money, but for public exposure isn't it more important how many people have seen it? So at 100 million $ at an average of $10/ ticket, that would come to 10 million people. Yes?
We need to get this to 100 million views.
Amazingly, a friend of mine is heading in to Seattle this morning, he called for me to check if it is still showing, he and his wife would be going. There are still 2 theaters showing SOF, four showings each IN DOWNTOWN SEATTLE! Not to mention all the major theaters surrounding Soviet Seattle. This is 19 days after the release. Some were questioning whether it would last through the weekend following Independence Day! Let the Great Awakening Continue!
I saw SOF last night for the second time. We ordered tickets that morning for a 6:35pm show and it was all sold out save for the first row. Two and a half weeks after release this movie is still selling out theaters 7 hours before showtime. This is in Texas, so definitely more favorable than Seattle. But still, what movie does that, anywhere?
Someone was interviewing Caviezel or Ballard (ICR) and they were talking about the fact that the numbers are actually picking up, which is opposite of what usually happens with a release. Typically the first weekend is the big money maker, and then it dwindles down.
Inneresting. A whole different kind of word of mouth.
I worked in restaurants and we were taught that bad word of mouth travels faster than good, so this is an encouraging sign!
Yes- Everything, every tool, can be used for good or evil.
A decent movie in terms of success is in theaters for 4-5 weeks. SoF is on that track.
Good overview:
https://exactlyhowlong.com/how-long-do-movies-stay-in-theaters-and-why-2/
I can't speak to the numbers, I don't keep my finger on the pulse of such things, but if MY eperience is any guide, my wife and I saw it after it first came out, and separately we have urged many others to see it...and they have. My nephew and his wife saw it yesterday, and he told me the theater (in upper East Tennessee, large urban area) was sold out and packed.
I suspect the number of people, especially now that it's gone international, to Honduras, El Salvador, and other parts of the globe....we may never know the full extent of its reach. I just hope it reaches far enough that a "critical mass" of humanity becomes aware of what is going on and rise to do something about it.
I have a couple people in my family who are politically unaware, whose heads are fully buried in the sand and unaware of what is transpiring in this world, but are talking about SoF.
Everyone has to start somewhere, fren. I try not to judge people because they are late to the party, I'm just glad they woke up and CAME to the party at all.
Late is way better than never!!!
Remember the parable of the workers in the field... those who were hired later in the harvest were paid the same as those who had been harvesting from the first day. There is a lesson for all of us in that parable.
💯🎯❤️🙏
Love your screen name!
Likewise!😀
I haven't had a chance to watch it yet. When it streams, I certainly will.
Try to get to the theater if you can.
It's a community event which reassures us that there are many more like minded people out there.
And, you can be confident the money will be put to good use in furthering the cause.
Good point. I want to see it at a theater a second time, hopefully one with more than ten people as on 7/7 at 7 pm. Now that the word has gotten out, maybe it will be a better attendance.
#metoo
I expect much more exposure when it goes to streaming. In the meantime, we have to spread the word.
That depends on how it is streamed. I doubt that the big streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon will pick it up, although I was surprised to see so many theaters showing it. So I may be wrong. Angel.com streams from their website, I think. I don't know how many normies would know about it or visit it to see the film.
Elon offered Twitter to stream. Now that would get some eyes on.
https://www.movieguide.org/news-articles/elon-musk-offers-sound-of-freedom-free-promotion-on-twitter.html
Excellent
Read here on GAW yesterday that Netflix, Amazon, Disney & Hulu will not stream Sounds of Freedom.
It's scared.
As it should be.
Have you looked at Angel.com website?
I surveyed their website, clicking open all arrows and reading what they are about.
Was really impressed by their very different model.
Examples:
...
https://www.angel.com/blog/angel-studios/posts/how-to-submit-your-film-project-to-angel-studios
(Am thinking Sound of Freedom passed the Angel Guild step with ease, even with the dark subject matter.)
I've only checked it out for streaming content and how they are funded. It looks like they are viewer/crowdfunded, but I didn't dig into it.
Agreed, they are unique and impressive.
10 million views X 10 conversations (with others that have yet to see) = 100 million aware (at least). Once released on streaming, 1/2 the population will view (and EVERYONE WILL KNOW). Watching grandkids today so the kiddos can see SOF. It’s spreading…WWG1WGA!
Today, my Priest's homily was about SOF. He said it should almost be mandatory viewing.
He must be one of the good ones! Glad to hear it!
Yes. Probably 50 of priests are worthless and another 40% are part of evil. The remaining 10% faithful ones will gladly admit this.
He was talking about how acceptance of gay marriage furthers the lust of the evil and they now are after children
Now that's a based priest. Nice!
It's hard to tell, because Angel Studios (which distributes it) is using a kinda-sketchy "pay it forward" strategy to inflate ticket sales: buy a ticket for yourself, and another ticket for someone who couldn't afford it, for them to redeem later.
From the company's website:
This is how you get theaters with sold-out seats, but not as many actual people sitting in them.
This is a sad revelation on your world view that you see donating tickets to the less fortunate only as a sketchy way to inflate ticket sales.
Fren, we deal with "truth" here to the best of our abilities, and u/nomadic brought sauce... that said, it doesn't mean our movement isn't gathering steam. We are in the midst of the Great Awakening and this film is providing exposure to help shine light upon their darkest deeds... this much we can all agree- regardless of the #'s. 😊
Labeling providing the option to purchase tickets for people who may not be able to afford them only as a sketchy way to inflate ticket sales is not truth. It is just a cynical opinion.
The truth is that the revenue is more important than the number of viewers in the first days and weeks, because if the theaters don't make money, they will pull the movie. Paying it forward increases the revenue and extends the time the theater runs the movie, regardless of the number of viewers.
Call me a cynic too but I would have preferred to see "pay if someone wants to sit in that seat". Or maybe your "donation" becomes an actual donation to fight child trafficking rather than paying for an empty seat that ends up in the pockets of a movie theatre.
Think bigger. This movie has been released to wake up as many people as possible. Human trafficking is the most lucrative industry on earth, and it operates with impunity because most people are unaware of it. Exposing it to normal people who will oppose it is the only way to shut it down for good. Sunlight is the best disinfectant. Many of those people may donate to organizations to fight trafficking after seeing the movie, which they were able to see because it put money in the pocket of the movie theater.
Keep in mind that this movie was blocked from being released for 5 years, and it cost $15 million to make, which is low for such a quality production, but still a loss for the makers of the movie. Angel Studios and the people involved in the release were aware of the obstacles that would be thrown in their way. Ensuring the revenue stream for the theaters kept it playing until word got out, and it may have been the only way to make it happen. The increasing attendance after two weeks is proof of that.
I don't think your position is cynical, just short-sighted. It's criticism because you don't like movie theaters getting the money for an empty seat instead of groups that fight trafficking. You are entitled to keep and voice your opinion, but if it were done the way you preferred, attendance may have fizzled out in the first few days and the movie dropped. What purpose would that serve? Keep in mind that no one is required to pay it forward and everyone is free to donate to organizations that fight human trafficking.
And God said; Let there be light.
We are going to go this coming Tuesday to a matinee. I bought our tickets online tickets last week. The tickets for this weekend were already sold out
The idea and campaign was to sell 2,000,000 tickets. I saw a video with Jim Caviezel praising the fact that they actually sold 2 million tickets. I don’t know how many since then.
Still not "butts in seats"
We'd need to know how many pay-it-forward tickets were actually used
edit: missed Nomadic's comment, sorry to repeat the point!
The purpose of releasing this film was to expose the horrors of human trafficking to the general population. The distributors and theaters took a financial risk by showing this film, especially during the "summer blockbuster" period.
The revenue taken in by the distributor and the theaters is more important than the number of viewers, especially during the first few days/weeks, which is the true benefit of paying it forward. If they lost money, they would stop showing the movie. The longer the film stays in theaters, the more people see it and its popularity spreads by word of mouth. As the number of people talking about it increases, pressure increases on the MSM to talk about it as well. This creates a dilemma for the MSM, because ignoring or disparaging the movie further diminishes their credibility.
Butts in seats only matter when empty seats mean less revenue, like on an airplane.
Fair point, pay-it-forward helps to keep it in theatres longer so that people who may have held off or not heard of it get a chance to watch it.
But still makes it impossible to measure viewership, should that even matter.
Yeah, it is impossible to measure actual viewership. The benefit or tradeoff is that the film gets more exposure the longer it stays in theaters. In the long run, the increased exposure is should result in more viewers.
I suspect that the MSM thought that they could end the theater run with bad reviews and mockery preventing people from going to see it.
When you buy tickets for SoF “pay it forward” it calculates it at $15 per ticket, I think that’s probably closer to the average.
I paid 12.50 to see it in a half full theatre in Crook County
We saw it at a matinee showing for $6. Three theaters were running between 5-10 showings daily. There are now 6 theaters showing it between 5-6 showings daily. All of the matinees have been selling out as well as the prime-time showings. Prime time tickets are $10.50.
Oh that’s great! More people can see it at that lower price then. I haven’t been to a movie theater in like 8 years lmao
Prime time tickets are $15 at Regal Theaters here in Orlando area.
The most important people that need to view the Sound of freedom are the very people that are in denial or Ignorant of Human trafficking and how serious this epidemic is, myself have been well aware of this, but I still want see for myself how the screen play would be received by the general public. Definitely a need to see.
Even if we don't push on to massive views we've still already won. SOF is the movie that's making waves and getting all the buzz, not Indy 5 or Woke Mermaid. SOF is selling out theaters and making a nice profit. You think theater owners and the industry as a whole are NOT noticing this?
How does one watch this outside of the US?
Check the Angel.com website for your locality. If it's showing there, the theaters will pop up. If it's not showing where you are, you may need to wait until it gets there or Angel.com starts streaming it.
Am thinking I read on their website a link where you could request your theater to show it.
Another thing I have been searching news daily to see when it is shown in other countries. Last article I read was for Ecuador opening on August 31. I usually try to post the article here on GAW when I find one.
I think I saw that a while back, but I've been unable to find it since then. Maybe that option pops up when you go to buy tickets but it isn't showing in your area.
Today my son said his father (my totally clueless ex) asked him if he wanted to go. This is huge to me. Tells me normies are waking up.
I took my mom on Friday night (10:15pm showing), in Alberta, Canada - the theatre was almost full, 17 days after release ♡
We just left SOF in Raleigh. It was PACKED literally only the front row wasn't full. Same for tomorrow because I looked at the seating available for tomorrow too. So Raleigh is booming.
Probably NOT enough.
Went to the mall where the theater is. I have never seen the parking lot so packed! There were streams of people coming out of the theater. There were two sizable lines to get tickets. Normally, there is nobody in line for tickets. And, there may be a few at the concession stand.
Some were there to see "Barbie." And "Mission Impossible." Yet, I bet a high percentage were there for SOF. It seriously blew my mind.
Just got back from seeing this movie. A good follow up is the interview that Judicial Watch just did with Tara Rodas. The movie is really good to get this out to the mass awareness of people. I worked with Arthur Gary Bishop in the 1980's, so I have been extremely aware of the pedo problem. I would like to see another movie made using Tara's info, Cathy O'Brian, etc., to bring awareness to how big of a problem there is in the US. That is the only thing the movie wasn't able to do as it makes it seem it is a bigger problem in central and South America. I know the movie says the US is the biggest purchasers, but many will see it as another countries problem. Tara Rodas - https://youtu.be/r6qT8rjESr8
I am a snowflake, Ashland Dog said. I don't dare to watch thing like this any more because I have been through something very similar. I will give Angel Studio a donation worth 4 tickets at least.
My city theatre $15
Wait until it goes online. 100 million will see it, 200 million probably. This is it, brother, I've been watching the numbers too and it's the one
I thought the director just celebrated 2 million tickets sold…
Can you imagine the impact on those who DONT KNOW already the extent of this horror? You found it depressing bc it was a visual, physical depiction of what you've known - but those who really didn't have a clue? Woman next to me gripped her bf/hubby hand, cried and said she had no clue. Her eyes were opened. It has to be impactful and emotionally painful imo - but it's not as painful as what those children's reality is on a day to day - or hour to hour - basis. Learning what had been going on literally UNDER MY NOSE and I was oblivious to it was the most difficult part for me.
