Looks like The bill to abolish the income tax in the US has been introduced!...
"H.R.25 - To promote freedom, fairness, and economic opportunity by repealing the income tax and other taxes, abolishing the Internal Revenue Service, and enacting a national sales tax to be administered primarily..."

And the left will be like "Trump is a dictator!!!!! we need our income taxed!!! waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaimafaggotwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
We may be reaching peak clown world if that happens.
You watch.
"If"?
No fren, you mean WHEN that happens.
Would not surprise us in the least, but the wonderful news now is - THEY DO NOT MATTER AT ALL. Trump's Agenda ( American Golden Age ) will steamroll on and not miss a beat regardless of their words or actions. Gonna be so beautiful to witness on so many levels.
Yup fuck em all
American Golden Age.
That really puts the AGA in MAGA!
🤔🙂
😂😂😂😂
🤣🤣🤣. You are hilarious!
Bwhahahajajaja! ANON!!!! I can hear them now!!!
A nice step, though the bill wants to replace federal income tax with a national sales tax.
That's certainly more equitable, but still doesn't prevent the Federal Government from growing out of control. I would greatly prefer President Trump's plan of returning to a tariff-funded Federal Government.
Came to say this. We don't need any national tax. State taxes are bad enough. Property taxes are an abomination.
The federal government needs to be funded by means OTHER than taxing the American people. The federal government needs to stay in budget or go without. Period. It is possible. Hopefully, Trump will show us how.
Exactly
This would definitely force any illegals to pay their fair share though.. You can't skip paying taxes as an illegal if you get paid cash, when the tax is on what you buy, not how the money comes in..
But it won't matter if/when all the illegals are deported.
That holds true if you buy at a store and not a black market through theft
The hell will they do with all the out of work IRS employees?
They'll have to get real jobs!
I agree, but we probably need a little bit of both. Maybe this national sales tax should have certain limits
All national sales tax goes to state not federal…
Not until we get the states cleaned out, Newskum would do a little fairy dance again.
"......administered primarily by the States."
I read that bill years ago and it's full of nonsense. It will "eventually" get rid of the IRS. Sure, like that would happen. It's been introduced multiple times over the last few years and goes nowhere, which is where it deserves to go. And I hate the IRS as much as anybody.
I see this over and over, and I've decided that there are many, many, many people who never learned how bills are passed, and how laws are made, or they forgot everything they learned.
I think everyone needs to do a Schoolhouse Rock "I'm Just A Bill" refresher course.
Apparently people think having a bill introduced into the House means it's now a law. 🤷♀️
Skoowill is back in session: Schoolhouse Rock "I'm Just A Bill"
*Has NOTHING to do with a blue dress BTW...
How much you wanna bet that we're going to be having these exact same conversations a year from now? With the same people?
I remember during Trump's first term in office that people would get super excited whenever some bill they liked got introduced in the House. Elimination of federal income tax being one of them. Apparently people think that the President can just sign any bill he likes into law and just cutting out the middlemen that are Congress. 🤷♀️
I dunno. It actually makes me sad because I know they're going to be extremely upset when the bill is killed. Like they really thought this time would be different.
Just like Lucy and Charlie Brown and that damn football.
But, this time I really am gonna kick that ball....
😂
these people are counted on to not know what they are talking about. you already know this.
Everybody will see where their taxes go in the states and it will not be steal like we have with IRS.
As far as I know, a national sales tax is not constitutional, except for alcohol and tobacco and gas, I guess. If it's something they could apply across the board they would have done it already. That's probably why Trump is talking about Tariffs.
No income tax or federal sales tax.
Amen, brother.
Agreed
From one frying pan to another.
Tax potato chips and only people who eat potatoes chips pay taxes.
My point. Consumption tax and you decide how much tax you pay. Along with a balanced budget amendment and now the spenders must achieve a good economy in order to have money to spend.
This spending our great grandchildren's money before it is earned or they are born, must stop. Its insane.
People who own nothing still consume something.
We don't tax food.
If I owned nothing I'd have so much money. But I own things so I have so much less.
See how that works. I would probably have less stuff with a consumption tax. Then once I saved money and had more of it I'd get some more stuff or replace some I already have.
I grew up dirt poor. Literally. But as an adult I never had trouble taking care of myself. And that is the key, I took care of me and mine. If I hadn't, then one day I suddenly had to, I may have found myself without the skill set to take care of things. And that would have been my fault. Just as it was my responsibility.
If you consume, pay your way. Your point is ... well, pointless to me.
Where in the US do you live that food doesn't get taxed? I know there are a few states that don't impose a state tax on food, but that doesn't account for local jurisdictions.
I'm not saying you're wrong or that food should be taxed. I'm just genuinely curious where in the US has no tax on food.
Mississippi and Alabama have the highest taxes on food in the US, I think. I grew up down there and once a month we would drive an hour to cross the border into a different state to buy groceries. Most states have lower food taxes, but MS and AL tax food just as high as everything else. Seems like something that would happen in California or NY or Massachusetts, not Alabama and Mississippi.
Anyway, I was just curious. And jealous. Mostly jealous. But a little curious, too. 😁
Washington and Oregon don’t tax groceries.
32 states and Washington dc does not tax food at grocery. My receipt does not show a federal tax on my grocery.
Sitting here wondering how we're going to get cornholed via "The States" on this...
"Oh it's just like the Euro tarts pay... like VAT"
Oh yeah? Was there a VAT-esque tax back in the Republic prior to 1913? I don't believe there was.
Let the tariffs level the playing field and work within your budget.
How about just getting rid of the internal robbery service and replace it with... READY?... Nothing. Nada. Squat. Diddly. Zero.
BECAUSE - If they collect it, it's GOING TO BE MISUSED - same as it ever was... AND most likely, to fund some communist horseshit.
All this does is changes the source of revenue, but doesn't eliminate taxes, nor does it reduce government spending, nor reduce government size and scope.
Eliminating the income tax is only a part of what needs to happen to bring government back under our control. The right way to reform our current corrupt government is to collect public revenue in accordance with the Constitution and our founders intent, while also eliminating all unconstitutional expenditures. Here are some of my ideas on how to do so:
Reduce the federal government to the size and scope the founding fathers intended when they wrote the Constitution. Eliminate all departments, all agencies, all programs, all projects, and all roles not specifically delegated to government through the Constitution. This will eliminate most unconstitutional spending.
Eliminate "Police Powers" and the weaponization of all federal government agencies not specifically authorized to have them by the Constitution. That pretty much leaves the U.S. Marshals and Coast Guard. All other law enforcement activities belong with the States. No more prosecuting victimless "crimes". If you couple this with repealing all unconstitutional weapon laws, and laws against forming local militia's, these actions would save billions of dollars annually, while increasing the safety / security of American Citizens.
Eliminate all federal taxes on American citizens across the board. No other income taxes on citizens of any type at the federal level. This includes every single federal consumption tax: gasoline, diesel, communications, water, etc.
Eliminate Social Security, and the Social Security Administration. This could be done by establishing a "cut-off" age. Anyone over that age gets to finish out their Social Security payments. Anyone under that age gets all of the money they put in over the years refunded in a lump sum payment that is not taxed. This could easily be funded by all the other unconstitutional expenditures that would be stopped, as noted in #1 above. Anyone that did not pay into SS will not get SS. Once the unconstitutional / socialist program finishes paying out, then it would be forever abolished.
Enact tariffs on foreign trade, just as the framers of our Constitution intended. All excess funds over what is required to fund the limited government would go to paying off the federal debt. Once that debt is paid off, all surplus funds would be evenly distributed to all American Citizens at the end of each year.
Enact a flat 5% tax on businesses, but only on revenue over $500,00.00. All excess funds over what is required to fund the limited government would go to paying off the federal debt. Once that debt is paid off, any surplus tax funds would be refunded back to the business's that paid the tax each year.
Enact a 10% federal income tax on all legal non-citizens living in our country. If they earn their citizenship, they would no longer be subject to that income tax. All excess funds over what is required to fund the limited government would go to paying off the federal debt. Once that debt is paid off, all surplus funds would be evenly distributed to all American Citizens at the end of each year.
Require all legal immigrants to live within the United States for 14 years before allowing them to become a citizen. During this time they must earn their citizenship and prove they truly intend to become an American. This would also eliminate most green card scammers, green card divorces, etc.
Charge a minimum of $20,000.0 for a four year student visa, and $60,000.00 for a 4 year H1-B Visa. Taking American school slots and American jobs is going to cost non-citizens. Use these funds to help defray the cost of public education (College / University, Apprenticeships, other Trade Schools, etc.).
Any company or school that is caught using H1-B or Student Visa's fraudulently will be fined $250,000.00 per incident. Use these funds to pay off the federal debt. Once that debt is paid off, all surplus funds would be evenly distributed to all American Citizens at the end of each year.
Enact a law prohibiting recurring taxes on any type of property.
Enact a law forbidding all non-citizens, all foreign governments, and all foreign companies from purchasing / owning any land or any other real estate within the United States or Territories of the United States.
Re-task the IRS to collect non-citizen income tax, tariffs, and the business taxes. have them also audit the government use of all revenue that is open for all Americans to see. Take away their "police" powers (No guns or arrest power), and make them the accountants and auditors they were created to be.
Make it a capital crime for anyone in government to misappropriate, steal, or misuse our government funds, in any manner. Same principle as if you wrote bad checks at home, or ran up massive debt that you couldn't pay, or if you stole from your neighbors. The difference is it is a government public trust situation, and should have the penalty of forfeiting the life of the guilty party.
Oh, and make everyone elected learn this simple, but critical, principle: https://mises.org/articles-interest/not-yours-give
defund the police?
The federal government was never supposed to have police powers. Besides, by reestablishing independent militias, you do not have the need for as many police as you do today.
The point is returning to the limits of Constitutional delegated power at all levels.
I live in 2025
The Constitution has no expiration date.
A government without a Constitution is a power without a right.
“Where the words of a constitution are unambiguous and in their commonly received sense lead to a reasonable conclusion, it should be read according to the natural and most obvious import of the framers, without resorting to subtle and forced construction for the purpose of limiting or extending its operation.” ~ A State Ex Rel. “It is my belief that there are “absolutes” in our Bill of Rights, and that they were put there on purpose by men who knew what the words meant and meant their prohibitions to be "absolutes.” ~ Justice Hugo L. Black (1886-1971) US Supreme Court Justice 1962
“Compelling a man by law to pay his money to elect candidates or advocate law or doctrines he is against differs only in degree, if at all, from compelling him by law to speak for a candidate, a party, or a cause he is against. The very reason for the First Amendment is to make the people of this country free to think, speak, write and worship as they wish, not as the Government commands.” ~ Justice Hugo L. Black (1886-1971) US Supreme Court Justice IAM v. Street, 367 U.S., 1961
“The Framers of the Bill of Rights did not purport to “create” rights. Rather they designed the Bill of Rights to prohibit our Government from infringing rights and liberties presumed to be preexisting.” ~ Justice William J. Brennan (1906-1997) U. S. Supreme Court Justice 1982
“Nothing can destroy a government more quickly than its failure to observe its own laws, or worse, its disregard of the charter of its own existence.” ~ Justice Tom C. Clark (1899-1977) US Attorney General, 1945-1949, Associate Justice of theSupreme Court of the United States, 1949-1967 delivering the opinion of the Court in MAPP v. OHIO, 367 U.S. 643 (1961)
Hell No......we did not come this far to trade one unfair tax for a other. No Income Tax!!! No Property Tax!! And sure as heaven is higher than earth' No sales tax. Let tariffs do the work. Study the Laffer docs and see.
No more poison pills! Here, drink this...
Most of the big corporation pay zero tax each year. They have highly paid tax lawyers who most often get the big corporations a refund after making billions in revenue.
I remember HRC trashing Trump at a debate, she said Trump paid zero in taxes last year and Trump's response was, "so did all of your friends". "You, as a politician created the tax laws, if you don't like it, fix it."
A flat sales tax would pull in all the corporations to pay their fair share. It would eliminate all the tax loop holes that corporations take advantage of. With corporations paying their fair share, the people could pay less.
With a flat sales tax you could eliminate the IRS which cost over $12 Billion a year to fund. Eliminating the IRS is just the tip of the iceberg. Shutting down the CIA saves us another $15 billion, $102 Billion for Dept of Education, FEMA $29 Billion.
Here is Ron Paul saying we could eliminate 5 agencies and save $1 Trillion per year. I think Elon has invited Ron Paul to join his team.
https://www.cnbc.com/2011/10/18/the-ron-paul-plan-kill-5-agencies-cut-1-trillion.html?msockid=35a3ccd6f63e695d262bd9b6f794686d
If you get rid of all the corrupt, useless government waste (DOGE), make corporations pay their fair share, incorporate tariffs, the tax burden on the people will be dramatically reduced. The amount we pay in flat sale tax will be used to start this endeavor, slowly, over time, be reduced as things are fine tuned. Keep eliminating the size of government, wasteful spending, increasing tariffs until the entire amount needed for the government to function is in balance with the tariffs that are generated.
There may be some hiccoughs in the beginning but you have to remember, we have been in the current system for over 100 years, Eliminating income tax while balancing our government budget will take a few years of tweaking but have confidence Trump will do us right.
I am a CPA tax practitioner. i advocate the Fair Tax approach presented by Buddy Carter. It captures the underground economy, rewards capital formation activities (interest and dividends not taxed), easily administered (most states have a sales tax already), frees IRS personnel, tax lobbyists, CPAs, tax lawyers for more productive work, and places more control in taxpayer - consume and pay tax or save and don't pay tax. What's not to like?
A monkey on the back, it's all the same. Is it new retail goods, or garage sales? Doe we need sales tax licenses now to live? Does it exempt basic necessities and how are those defined? The last attempt at national sales tax was 23-30%. Housing and car sales included? And how, as a CPA tax practitioner is the bank going to secure a loan w/out a tax return... just saying. 100% opposed to it all. These are all big distinctions, and SUBJECT TO CHANGE in another administration.
The federal income tax has existed since 1913. How was the federal government funded before - excise taxes, import duties/tariffs, whiskey taxes, etc.. clearly, SHRINKING size of the federal government is a big necessary step as is being done in real time. And YES necessities ie food, housing etc s/b exempted as states do today.NOT value-added tax, but taxed at end-use. The beef steak gets taxed at the restaurant, not on the ranch, not in the grocery store...How much money is in the cash underground economy - drug dealers, thieves, etc..? do they buy cars? boats?
It depends on what the rate is and if there are any exceptions, such as food, heating oil, other things necessary to basic survival. Every other time this idea has been floated the rate was so high (20 something percent), my reaction was GTFO. Can you imagine how much that would add to a new car? More than most people pay in income tax. Plus, it gets added on to state sales tax. If it's a nominal amount, like 1 to 3%, that would be workable. In the teens or twenties - hell no! Trump never said replace income taxes with a national sales tax. He said replace it with tariffs. Let's just do what he promised.
20 something percent!
Reading through some of the comments here is just sad. Seriously.
People should be ashamed for not knowing how basic things like bills and tariffs work.
Ok, I'd like to do a little experiment here.
I'd like people to state what they believe a tariff is and who is ultimately responsible for paying it.
Because reading through some of these comments here makes me wonder what the hell is going on.
The same thing with what a bill is and how it becomes a law.
Beat me to this, lol. Just searching to see if anyone else posted. 😊👍
Lol...I Had to double check before I posted...
So, as far as my 2024 taxes...where are we at? I still file with my accountant to get back what I can???
All changes to the tax code will be future taxes. Pay your 2024 taxes or NO SOUP FOR YOU !
Also, don't get tax or financial advise from strangers online. Just...don't.
🤨
What exactly do you think it means that someone introduced a bill to the House?
"No such thing as a stupid question" (but yes, some people can push it!). Keeping in mind we just had 4 years of fraud, which could easily be shown to have extended back to 1963 or earlier, it's not an out of bounds question at this point. Yes, I'll pay my 2024 taxes. But when you get into the nuts & bolts, the IRS is a private entity out of Puerto Rico IIRC. And a corrupt court system forced people to pay, even after there has been at least one court case (Nevada?) that showed we're not required to pay the IRS. The entire currency systems being updated in the background.
There isn't an actual change yet, so I plan on going forward as always.
Why not get a stable income from tariffs, and then reduce the taxes? As manufacturing comes back, tariff income will grow - and our Fed taxes would fall. This is going to rebalance the economy.
Dramatically changing things, without any attempt to control things - is like jumping on the bathroom scale. Everything will fluctuate wildly.
Who do you think pays the tariffs, exactly?
Those who buys those goods. No one forces you to buy cheap Chinese wrenches. Unless you want to.
Exactly. But it's not just cheap Chinese wrenches. The US has basically no domestic manufacturing now. So unless we all plan to go the Amish route, we'll be paying tariffs on almost everything we buy.
So u/Hodar is saying that the government needs to be making a steady income on tariffs before they reduce our taxes. So we'll be paying tariffs and taxes at the same time?
But then they say that as manufacturing jobs come back to the US, the government will be getting even more income via tariffs? How does that work?
Fair question. Say tax rate is 22%, and we have an idea after a month or so of what tariff income is, then tax rate drops to ~15%, then a quarter later we see oil, and production increasing. Drop taxes to ~10% Review data, and adjust. It's going to balance out at whatever the new equilibrium point well be. Eventually, taxes will be zero, as manufacturing increases.
Just like dieting - you make minor changes - you don't go on a starvation diet right off the bat.
At first, the US consumer. Then, as US manufacturing, oil production, energy production ramps up - American goods will be in direct competition with overseas - and being a US produced good, will be exempt from the tariff.
Then, US goods will be cheaper than imported. It's not a solution solved overnight.
Being exempt from tariffs isn't the same as growing income from tariffs, which is what you first said.
How exactly will the government be making money on people not paying tariffs?
Capitalism is the engine that will drive everything. We can make cars in the USA cheaper than made elsewhere. Volume production results in lower prices.
While people are paying REDUCED taxes, you employ more people. Like I said, it's going to be a balancing act as we transition from an income tax, to lower taxes and Gov't funding via tariffs.
Nobody knows for certain what is coming, or where the new equilibrium will be - so I would rather a soft landing, over a hard landing.
Unemployment rate in the US is only 4%. Now that we're finally getting rid of illegal immigrants, we're going to have a ton of job openings coming up.
Do you really think that extra 4% of potential employment will make a big enough difference where we will be having more people working in order to pay less taxes? If we no longer have an income tax, what does it matter if we have more people making an income?
Earlier you said we would eventually be paying zero taxes.
If we're not going to have an income tax, and we're no longer paying as much in tariffs, where will the government be getting money?
What if we start doing so well in bringing manufacturing back that we end up having a worker shortage and have to start giving visas to foreigners just to start the whole illegal immigrants thing over. The majority of illegal immigrants in the US came over here legally on work, tourist, or school visas, and didn't go home when they expired, thus becoming illegal.
Do you see how what you're saying here is inconsistent and confusing?
You make sense. Glad you are here.
There are so many variables, that I am suggesting a slower transition. I expect automation to become much more prominent in the factories - including Optimus doing many repetitive operations (as well as home care, food prep, essentially replacing low skill and repetitive jobs).
As we produce more, and compete; the materials we do import (via tariffs), should decrease due to self-sufficiency. I would expect at some point a transition to export tariffs would also transition in - you are right, we are cutting a lot of gov't waste; but the Gov't has to be continuously fed. It's going to be interesting.
I'll eat my MAGA hat live on stream if this goes anywhere. Happily!
Property taxes need to end!
As long as owner live in it... But if there is rental income then should still apply, or apply to those with more than 3 houses / properties
Not sure this makes sense.
Dasting. Introduced the 3rd of January.
Not surprising since that was the first day of the new CONgress.
oooh yea. My brain was very absent on that one.
H.R. 25 - H.R. 5 X 5
"administered by the states? From one group of thugs to another. How about tariffs administered by Dept. of Commerce on foreign countries instead???
You had me until the sales tax…bah hum bug.
This bill mentions a national sales tax. Can we make it so listed product prices INCLUDE the tax?
It’s our red state’s property, franchise & excise taxes that are killing our small biz!
But, but, what if I really enjoy having to spend hours out of my life filing tax papers, and mailing shit back and forth to the IRS?
Referred on 1/3?
Let me tell you about a sales tax. Anything run by our government goes up, but never down, at least that is the way it has been. Hopefully we have turned a corner and if a sales, national tax, is put into effect, it will have limits on how much it can be.
prices are coming down. promises made promises kept
He doesn't make promises in hopes of not fulfilling them when he gets in office. He actually intends to fulfill all his promises, now he, of course, has to battle lawsuits by angry political people who should not challenge anything he has done so far. If he goes overboard, in their estimation, then they should challenge him in a court of law. But not until they actually believe he did something wrong. Otherwise these are frivolous and not good lawsuits that tie up work to be done by the US and the Trump administration.
And the votes will show the uniparty…
Big government Bureaucrats goan' be maaad!
Please God let this happen.
The key take away on this: When the bill passes and made into law, it will be the death knell for the Federal Reserve. Without their goons (IRS) getting their monies, the Fed Reserve cannot function and will fail. As the Fed Reserve is in its death throes, Congress will dissolve the Federal Reserve Act of 1913.....
NO!!! NO FUCKING SALES TAX!!! NO TAXES, PERIOD!!!
Oh please oh please oh please
Next is federal reserve fake money
