This makes me think of that FANTASTIC episode of Opie and Anthony (way way way back when for all you kiddies reading along) when Louis C.K. was their guest in-studio and then they had Former Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld calling in to talk about his memoir that had just come out. (He was in during the Bush Jr. Admin... the book was called Known and Unknown or something similar and, incredibly, it wasn't too bad of a read - I know right!? NO PUN INTENDED.)
When Rummy calls in, Louis C.K. starts to mention that people think he and other government officials are in fact, LIZARD PEOPLE and how absurd and demeaning that is. Sir, would you just verify for us now that you are in fact, NOT a LIZARD?? 🤣🤣😅
Anthony is beside himself, alternately laughing hysterically at Louis and his insane and brazen line of questioning and trying to keep the interview from going off the rails. Rumsfeld answers the question in a number of really strange ways, however -- first he tells some inane and weird story about going to an Italian restaurant in New York with his wife, and someone paid for the meal, O&A should pick their guests better, and then deflecting with "tell Louie my grandchildren are listening."
I've included condensed versions and full versions to the conversation below, but almost BETTER than the incredibly awkward dialogue while Rumsfeld is on the phone is the aftermath where Opie Anthony and Louie all LOSE THEIR EFFING MINDS trying to process what just happened and what they listened to.
And if you consider this closely, really, HOW MANY TIMES EVER have we seen a politician, especially a HIGH UP LEVEL guy, answer some of these bizarre questions? Maybe, JUST maybe... they don't HAVE to share or even try to LIE about some of this shit because NO ONE EVER ASKS - and is that intentional? It has to be, the whole process is manicured and controlled by the media. That is a part of why TRUMP has been such a REVELATION/REVOLUTION ....
