Wow I've been maskless the whole time and only got a few dirty looks. People here are pussies. I am the only one without a mask most times when I'm in wawa/grocery and when i see a fellow non masker I usually male a point to go greet them like an old friend. Richmond, va.
We have also been maskless the entire time. Lately, we've noticed it's 50/50 and if it's not, we don't get looks or harassed. However, back in the fall, one store called the cops and four cruisers showed up just for dh and I, 60ish vets. They took his name and driver license...said nothing to me. I was furious. We've never been back to that store. I must say the manager is Mexican, as are many customers there. They are like children in that they do as they are told, few speak English, so they don't understand what it's like to be Americans and love freedom. Freedom or die!
My husband is of Mexican descent (actually N.A./Spanish) & he would agree with you! & if you are White = payback time.
He was chased down by White/gay manager at one of our stores -- & told to leave. Only one to do it.
So, on this issue you've also got mass hysteria. But stores here are realizing if you don't defer to medical exemption-- code for I know my rights-- their sales drop. I suspect ppl on the right still spend more on food & necessities than things that are '"fun".

Blue cesspit dweller here and can confirm. I’ve seen only one lone Vietnam Veteran not wearing a mask in a store since it became mandatory. To contrast, I’m currently outside of Boise, ID visiting family and half or more people in big box stores aren’t wearing a mask and the stores have no choice but to serve these people because of the numbers that refuse. My Walmart has door guards and count how many people guards and extra people wandering around to bug you. You can make it in the door or walk around without a mask. It's creepy but I like making them have a job bugging me.

Here's what I got out of it: 1- all those with masks were not socially distancing and none wearing gloves. They handle everyones products and money possibly transmitting the virus. That is as much of a 'violation' as not wearing a mask. 2-not 1 employee asked if anyone was medically exempt. not everyone can wear a mask. 3-Should someone say 'but youre not wearing a double mask as recommended so youre in violation too'
I dont have a crowd behind me. What I did once, I told the cashier that I pass out if I wear a mask for over an hour so please hurry up. she started shaking, called for help in case I go down and got him to take my groceries to the car. On route to my car I asked him if he uses aspirin. He said he cant take aspirin so uses tylenol. And I said and some people cant use masks either.

Since the typical logic of the masker is to claim "you're going to kill someone"; the reverse logic is to wish death and harm onto the people not wearing a mask.

A lot of people state, rightly, that "just go maskless" is an easy thing to say when you're not living in a blue shithole. And that's true. The mask-wearers are a genuine religious cult. Their efforts to shame and other-ize the sight of a human face is monstrous and inhuman. The psychological pressure to conform is overwhelming, and in many places, as seen here, you're even physically threatened for going maskless. I DON'T obey the mask orders, and I do live in a place with one and have traveled to bluer cities since this started and defied them there, with various degrees of pushback -- but never have I tried it in a place as full-on Stalinist in Santa Cruz. These people have MAJOR balls.
