We don't have HVAC units in the UK, it was the closest thing at the time I could think of that could produce such an effect. I wasn't actually suggesting someone was trying to scare birds :P

I have no idea, but to destroy munitions, I wouldn't think houses miles away would shake. Shoot, when the Quarry used dynamite to blast loose the rock, we didn't hear it or feel that. I thought it was an earthquake. I ran outside to see if someone had hit my house with a car. It was loud and my house shook. I was miles away from the Quarry. But the sound was exactly the same. So I'm thinking they were blowing up something in or on that building, or even underground and the smoke drifted up and out. I really don't know. Was it Black hats destroying evidence, or was it White Hats destroying human trafficking tunnels underneath. Who knows?

Only suggested reason I've seen was some HVAC issue, but I don't know anything about industrial/large-scale HVAC systems.
if it were an HVAC issue, we would all be familiar with it. It would not be the first time that this happened with the millions of installations.

I would think the FBI (Lie) would have a place designated for ordinance destruction, and it wouldn't be on their roof or in the city at all.
