Yes! All states should do this! There has to be a cutoff, pay for x number of years and then you’re done. It’s ridiculous that a person never really owns the property even if it’s paid off.
fuck that, buying the land for a set price and then never paying another cent!
Land patents are a thing for the those in the know.

Handy. Saved. Thanks!!
Is this real or sovereign citizen like?
I suggest investing some time looking into it yourself, and research it further if you feel lead to, would be better than asking a stranger on the internet what is real or not.
Yeah it's ridiculous you have to pay tax on what you already own? Absolutely stupid.
Years ago while I was still in college my mom moved back to Arkansas to be near her mom and sister. She was shocked that she had to pay taxes on all her furniture, her car that she'd bought and paid for in Texas, etc. Taxed coming and going.
I am shocked that's a thing too because that's inarguable theft and extortion.
Wait, run that back. She was paying taxes on furniture and stuff she was MOVING from her old place to her new?
Or was it newly bought at the new city?
Messed up either way, but different degrees.
There was a word for it, but I forget. It's like she had to do an inventory of her house contents and belongings and pay a state tax for it all.
Definitely the worse of the two. Absolutely extortion.
I know property taxes suck. But it doesnt help when no one's fighting their property taxes either.
If everyone fought their property taxes, they wouldn't be so high. I fight mine and I don't use those stupid companies either.
It's either constitutional or NOT constitutional.....THEY do not need to be raping the people this way. Watch how quickly government reduces in size. The wild spending will stop as well.
This should be for every state. We own our property, not rent from the government. There are people whose families have owned property for generations, then they lose it because taxes get too high as the developers win and get closer and closer. Property taxes go up and up... until the family can't afford it anymore and lose or have to sell the property. It's ridiculous. Once you own property, you own it. Don't ever have to pay taxes to own it. Same with cars. So stupid. Oh, and what about those people that bought houses in the 40's, 50's, or 60's, and at this point have paid more taxes than they paid for their house?? So stupid. It's all stupid.
A lot of city council members are closely associated with local developers. I'm sure there's no conflict of interest there either.
Yes, it would. There's no reason, whatsoever, that my mother in law, 85 yo, needs to pay 4k in property taxes for a home that has been paid for since 1985. NO REASON.
Your mother-in-law might live in Maryland. Our taxes keep going up and they never, ever, go down for as long as I have lived here.
Well I hope Abbott does away with the property tax for her sake and anyone else in her situation. If he does it for everybody in Texas, it will be great. I am afraid here in Maryland, I will be paying higher taxes every year-like clockwork they go up and up and up, never down. If the family can save the tax money all the better It is money in your pocket and not the state's.
It will be national. Pay attention
I will definitely be looking for it.
Compare Comal county with Bexar. Funny that libtard Bexar county taxes are almost double what they are in Comal for the same priced house! With interest rates being so high right now those assessments should be dropping but nooooooo!
We were actually in Guadalupe County, which used to be the lowest of the three! Crazy!
Get your allodial title with Land Patent. Here is step-by-step: https://greatawakening.win/p/16bPQPHFQW/what-you-need-to-know-about-land/c/
Get rid of HOAs while we're at it.
Seth is asking Abbot what took him so long and questioning his motives...
Yep. Abbott leads from behind like the reluctant conservative warrior.
Abbott is a do-nothing RINO.
Hate to break the news to you, Greg Abbott is feckless. How can Texans on their own property, when illegal aliens are flooding across the border, and attacking people in their own homes. He’s actually one of the worst republican governors ever.
Property taxes are extortion. Change my mind.
The so called Personal Income Tax is more so.
A wise and frugal government, which shall restrain men from injuring one another, shall leave them otherwise free to regulate their own pursuits of industry and improvement, and shall not take from the mouth of labor the bread it has earned.

Speaking of Texas where is the Paxton impeachment process at? I thought the next step was for the TX Senate to investigate and vote on it. Paxton is purported in limbo until he can be reinstated.
No later than Aug 28th. I wonder how his wife will vote...

That's not good at all. At this point, Paxton is muted. Gov. Abbot has to appoint an AG until the Senate votes on this. If Abbot was smart, he'd appoint someone that takes direct guidance from Paxton. The interim AG then should investigate the sham impeachment and file charges against the leaders of this coup.
Seth is being sarcastic and calling out Abbott for being all talk. Just like Rick "Sell the taxpayer funded freeways to toll companies in Spain" Perry.
Abbott talks big then leads from behind. He has done a few good things, but don't buy his rants until there's action behind it.
Texas is such a great state, but the cartels have been in control for years and years.
Yeah, screw that. My property taxes on a $400k house, 1750 sq ft, 0.18 lot, in Texas went to EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS A YEAR. We voted with our feet and left San Antonio where we had lived of and on for 45 years. Abbott has been saying this crap for years and every year the taxes went up. All of them say it and no one does anything, and the taxes go up and up and up and up. Texas is ridiculous.
Uh, WOAH! In Texas??? I'm in south king county, suburb of Seattle-- Now $550k, lot/house same as urs, Taxes @$6400... insurance just doubled tho- some change in our stupid state laws
I'm telling you ... look it up. WE OUT
I live in Florida where property values have as much as tripled in the last three years but there has been no adjustment to the property tax rates so the current rates are insane. The state flood insurance costs have as much as tripled as well, despite Florida having a budget surplus that could help give some relief. DeSantis is MIA on these very real concerns although he somehow finds time to play the woke culture wars.
Well, next Governor election isn't until 2026 for Texas, so that cant be it.
Must be just another no-action constituent rally comment.
P.S. I live in Texas and wanna get rid of the Wheelchair muppet. Showed his colors during that whole Covid hoax bullshit. Should have NEVER went along with it.
LOL. Abbott is such a transparently disingenuous POS.
count your ballots by hand
record the results
seal the ballots
Nice to see Gregg Abbott saying the quiet part out loud. You have to watch what they do, not what they say.
Don’t talk about it. DO IT!!! Drop them filthy taxes from existence.
I will make some concessions for that. Little pisses me off more than not owning a house that you rightfully purchased.
In the Philippines they don't take people's land (at least in my wife's province) over taxes, but when you sell or transfer title the taxes must be caught up. They have laws and customs regarding who gets the property with surviving spouse getting half and offspring getting the other half. If there is a house the youngest offspring typically gets it. Lots of feuds and violence over land can happen.
One case I know of is a Frenchman wanted to build a resort (in wife's name, foreigners can't buy land) All the people must agree to the sale and there was a pro and anti faction. Dead Frenchman no sale...
Sales Tax is on the National level with funds trickling back to the provinces. Around 200 families control the country and political violence abounds...
I doubt if there is any country where taxes work well...
Do you live in PH?
Moved back to USA in Sept. of 2020, wife and I were on separate Islands when lockdown occured. We came back to USA to reunite, and now have Children in the family there to provide for, so in USA in the meantime. We have a house there and I had to resume work in USA because I don't own in USA anymore and we are paying 2K a month in a Middle Class area. I no longer drive and my wife doesn't know how so at least our Transportation is cheap. Wife rides bus for free while I pay 33 bucks for discount monthly pass. We live a few miles from DT
Im planning on trying to find a wife in PH. Any thoughts?
Go there and look in person, online is rife with scammers. provincial women tend not to smoke, drink, or use drugs. City girls are more likely to. A Filipina comes with strong family ties, you will need to help her family, but learn how to say no. People think they know how to run a business there, most don't. Don't buy or build a house there, you can rent cheap and move away if problems develop. Non-confrontational interactions are how things work there. The culture is more about courtship than dating, don't ruin a reputation. Make sure she isn't already married, there's no divorce there. If hubby is connected you will get arressted for adultery.
Filipinas are good wives, but tied strongly to their families, the retirement plan is for children to help their parents in old age, they have a minimal SS system, and many don't pay into it. My friend there gets 60 bucks a month SS.
Thank you!
God yes! my mortgage would go down almost 300 dollars a month
If only they’d act on it! Texas keeps electing RINOs as SOTH and they always give key chairs to the left. The uni party is alive & well in Texas, same SOS different year.
Agree with Abbott, but he is just dangling a carrot while they boot Paxton.
This is constitutional! Then eliminate the income tax....both are unconstitutional.
the so called 'income tax' is absolutely unconstitutional. Property taxes at the state level are not unconstitutional, per se. But they do both tend to be regressive taxes.

Did you misunderstand my comment? Governor Abbott's statement regarding property taxation is definitely constitutional, finally--both property and income taxation are direct taxation and are therefore, unconstitutional. People never own their own properties; the local lizards steal the ownership for themselves. Abbott is advocating for the removal of property taxation. Article 1 Section 9 Clause 4 of the Constitution and the 4th Amendment apply to both property and income theft.
Ooh, I did miss this...Thank you!
NP!!
That would also save millions of dollars in fees, salaries, utilities, etc by eliminating the 254 (maybe more?) Appraisal District offices, employees, mailings, regulations, web services, etc.
Seniors for sure should be exempt from ALL taxes!
Oh boy, here comes a state income tax...
Mine went from about $5500 last year to around $7000+ for this coming year. 🤬
yikes
he teases with this all the while shipping illegals all over america.
Well. Can't leave them all in Texas.
Damn. I missed the protest deadline.
