What's the difference between

oil of oregano

and

oregano oil?

I don’t make a distinction, but some feel the need to make it. I seem to get emotional rants on the difference and the importance of using the right name exc. So to spare the drama and insults to my mother I use “oil of oregano”. My friend got a wicked lung fungal infection while cleaning out his attic and almost died. They put him on an antibiotic so strong it almost killed him, his teeth actually fell out. This infection was and still is an ongoing problem, I had him take oil of oregano and black seed oil everyday and finally he recovered. If he misses a few days though his symptoms start to return. Oil of oregano is amazing for two reasons. 1. It kills everything, fungus, mold, bacteria’s, viruses at very low concentrations. Two it has no effect on the good bacteria inside your body, imagine that. Isn’t God unbelievable, all of the science of man, the Cabal with all their sick DNA manipulation cannot do what just one of Gods little plants can.

Be careful, people reading this.

I use Oreganol brand P73, super strength.

It must be diluted or it will kick your behind.

Very hot.

So just check the strength before you order and test it before you use it.

Can attest to that! On my daughter's advice, I got oil of oregano. She said to put a drop under the tongue to ward off a cold. My mouth felt like it was on fire, but the cold never developed. Since then I've diluted it, and it works very well. Also, the smell is very strong. I've kept it wrapped in a sealed freezer bag, and put it in a jar.

I literally bought it just now due to all the testimonials. Seems like better for colds than ivermectin, at least cheaper. I’m dealing with what I think are after affects of COVID and it’s been over 3 weeks. I took ivermectin and didn’t have many symptoms but after it I had cold sores that were very deep and painful. It almost feels like shingles too and I did notice a lot of scabbing up my spine with eczema. I also saw a few areas that could be shingles but like I said, I took ivermectin and it seems to have made everything mild. I just need more help to kick this lingering cough and cold sores.

Let me also add, the cold sores themselves are under my tongue at the very back so they don’t hurt too much but they make my lymph nodes swell and at one point I had a double chin but it’s slowly getting better.

I was diagnosed with two auto immune diseases and while my inflammation levels were very high, I had horrible ulcers in my mouth, on and under my tongue. I got shingles, and my muscles hurt. Your symptoms sound like what mine were. Might be worth having a SED rate test run. I read Ashwaganda is great for inflammation - I'm planning on trying it myself.

It does appear that COVID like viruses can cause lots of mouth sores due to distracting your immune system. I found research papers online about this and it’s barely talked about. Basically they said if the person had COVID, they have a very high chance of having more painful sores than previous. I also seem to have allergies come and go that I barely had before and bad asthma. I’ve been using hydrogen peroxide and it does stop the sores really fast but it seems like they keep coming back due to the immune system or not keeping the treatment up after the pain goes down

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8520410/

I’m also taking zinc, D, C, and lysine daily at their recommended doses

I've been reading up on natural herbs to support my immune system to try and get off the Rx stuff and astragalus and Ashwaganda were recommended. Perhaps incorporating immune booster will help? I read similar about COVID and the vax concerning immune issues. Just a thought - you need to do what's best for your health. I'll keep you in my prayers

I stumbled upon this COVID research about long COVID

https://covid.us.org/2021/01/08/case-report-ivermectin-successfully-treats-longcovid/

I did take two full doses of ivermectin at least a day apart and I already notice most of my symptoms going down. God prompted me to do this after prayer and then I found this and my symptoms seem to match long COVID. Lymph nodes are less swollen today and I can tell my neck pain is mostly due to muscle cramping and swelling now. Brain fog lifted and I didn’t realize I had it. Anxiety is much better and I can control it now and not give into the health worries. It does help to know what it likely was too

Now I take it when I know I’ll be exposed like beach or golfing & I don’t get them anymore. Idk if that would help you or not but thought Id share.

I did oregano oil with a low dose for a few days and didn’t see many side affects. Recently tried taking a higher dose by pill and it was a very effective pain reliever at twice the recommended dosage. I had some digestion issues related to the higher dose and needed to take it with food. I was told by a relative to try that for a week but it didn’t improve the swelling after a few days. I had been taking a low dose when I use ivermectin but went off it for a few days and trying a full dose may have worked really well. We will see but I also have a doctor appointment coming up just in case.

My symptoms seemed to get worse after I stopped taking ivermectin and it seems like it developed a sinus infection. May be related or the root cause of some of this. I’ve had a history of sinus infection but it’s been years. I had been taking some ivermectin at the beginning of this sickness and a low dose near the end but I guess that might have complicated things. I was just nervous about taking a higher dose and the smaller dose is what fixes my joint pain.

I realized this after I stopped going to doctors. I'm disabled with multiple health issues. I'm doing so much better with herbs and supplements. Good diet and exercise. And, anytime I need an answer for a particular issue...God puts it in front of me. Whether I run across an article or someone is placed in my life with the answer.

I truly believe there's so much out there that we don't know about, in regards to healing and Mother Nature.

Our bodies are capable of healing if we dedicate the proper time and nutrients.

Good to see stuff like this coming from a younger generation asking questions.

Side note though: it's not always about killing the most bacteria, sometimes it's about killing enough bacteria.

Killing too much bacteria opens you up to even greater problems like gut issues.

You want it to be inhospitable to your targeted bacteria with as little damage to good bacteria as possible.

Also, a drop of an essential oil is a high concentration -- possibly higher than the tablet itself, which from the video doesn't seem to be mentioned anywhere.

permalink save report block reply
▲ 20 ▼
– ProudOfAmerica 20 points 2 years ago +20 / -0

It's also important to know which bacteria are being killed.

If you kill everything BUT Clostridium Difficile (C.Diff), for example - you could possibly die a very painful death as the C.Diff takes over your gut and releases toxins.

I know - I spent time in the hospital for that situation.

Free advice: If you ever get prescribed a 'cephalosporin class' antibiotic (which will kill almost everything in your gut except C.Diff), make sure you also take Flagyl (to kill the C.Diff).

I would think just drinking kombucha after using this would restore gut bacteria. One kombucha has more good fauna than about ten yogurts.

Yes, probiotics are good. I mean probiotics are just generally pretty good, but probiotics are especially good if you are on anything antibacterial or otherwise have a condition where your gut flora isn't up to snuff.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼

That's another good piece of advice. If you ever have to be on antibiotics, keep putting probiotics of some sort into your system.

Take what your doctor tells you. 80% of C. diff as of the study I read a few years back is resistant to Flagyl now. You take other stuff that will reliably kill it. The resistance patterns change fairly often, so it's not terribly useful to memorize the current treatment guidelines unless you're involved in treating this stuff on a day to day. If you really want to know, look up the Infectious Disease Society of America and look for the C. diff guideline. It's the best, most up to date one.

Take what your doctor tells you. Ask as many questions as you need to so you can trust his/her judgement, but don't try and self-treat a major infection. That's a recipe for disaster.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 5 ▼
– INK10 5 points 2 years ago +5 / -0

Taking what doctors tell you is a recipe for disaster IMO. I know this from very painful experience. Better, do your own research and know that God has given us what we need to stay healthy, and mainstream medicine isn't it.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– ProudOfAmerica 2 points 2 years ago +2 / -0

I understand the sentiment of your post, but 'taking what the doctor told me' almost KILLED me.

That doctor was 'involved in treating this stuff on a day to day' basis.... and again, he almost killed me.

I looked up the Infectious Disease Society of America guidelines...

First, I had to pass by their homepage (https://www.idsociety.org/)...

Banner pictures: Group of doctors in street clothes and Covid masks, the ultra-required diversity photo, and a couple happy to be taking a selfie in masks at a medical conference. Lower on their homepage one of their main articles is 'How Covid has affected the LGBTQIA+ Community". I could go on....

You want me to trust them not to have an agenda?

Oh, and their C.Diff protocol?

Most recommended: Fidaxomicin: Cost: $200 per pill - $5,000 to treat an infection
Second best: Vancomycin: Cost: $7 per pill - $300 to treat an infection
They also mention 'fecal transplantation'. Cost: Over $5,000 - plus Dignity
Lastly, they reluctantly acknowledge Flagyl (metronidazole), which is out-of-patent: Cost: PENNIES per pill - $3 to treat an infection

Pharma agenda much?

What's been floating around 4chan's /x/ for the last year: the NAC Protocol (NAC + Oregano Oil + Black Seed Oil). Posits that mold/fungus/yeast is the root of all modern ailments. Coincidentally, why dewormers like fenben end up curing cancer.

Reconcile how Trump was laughed at when he mused about shining "light inside the brain" to cure COVID. A new meaning to bringing light to darkness. Wouldn't be the first big thing to come out of 4chan.

I used to do this as well, I’d use my other toenails to “pick” at the others and pretty much rip them off.. it got to the point where I was still doing it in adulthood and it really bothered my spouse lol The ingrowns were really bad (I used lavender essential oil to heal them) and I was tired of my feet looking “ugly” due to the picked nails. I eventually learned that I have sensory issues and the nails being too long was a trigger to “pick” them. I started putting nail polish on my nails and it made it more difficult to pick. Now that I’ve done that for a little over a year I don’t feel like picking them even without them being painted (:

Ok so let me be the voice of caution. The oil does kill bacteria but it kills both the harmful and good bacteria. It can wreck your gut biome and cause issues. It really should be used as a last resort and not first option.

Your teacher… she sounds stupid.

permalink save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼
– Moose_Antlers 4 points 2 years ago +4 / -0

I won't necessarily say that. She was curious enough about the result to repeat the experiment and do what amounted to a ranging study where she used increasingly small doses to test potency. That shows curiosity and the use of the scientific method. She's not stupid and she did approach with an open mind which is what we want.

She's uneducated. She hasn't taken a microbiology course to understand what she's actually experimenting on or a pharmacology course to understand what amoxicillin is expected to do. FIrst of all, we didn't specify what type of bacteria were on the plate. Given the nature of a high school science experiment we can expect the usual indoor airborne aerobes, a healthy dose of skin bacteria from the inevitable contamination, and probably a fair amount of yeasts and molds in the air to hit that plate.

Amoxicillin, like any antibiotic has a specific spectrum of activity, the set of bacteria species it'll kill. If you're curious, check out the antibiogram here (first image). The key here is that whatever mix of species end up on that test plate, amoxicillin is only going to reliably kill some of them. As a treatment strategy, we use it to kill the organisms most likely to be causing the infection, or kill them enough that the immune system can clean up the rest. We would not expect this drug or any of them really to kill everything on that plate, especially not the yeast or mold contaminants. The expected result here is that the species it didn't kill would overgrow the plate.

Meanwhile the oregano's a bit more of a conundrum. We're using an essential oil, which means we get a broad mishmash of lipophilic molecules that extract into that oil. Who knows exactly what's in it or in what concentrations? What we do know is that it's oil. We're putting it on top of an agar gel which is hydrophilic. So oil repels water and forms a film over the top of the gel. This block circulation of oxygen to the critters attempting to grow on the gel. Since they're all aerobic and require oxygen to live, the oil itself kills them, whether there was anything of substance in the oil or not. There may be something there that kills bacteria. We simply don't have the right test to determine that.

Oregano is awesome, we use it. Depend upon it! BUT remember never ever ever, use it as part of med for any ear issue especially not pets ears! Also in case you don't know, don't use tea tree oil on dogs at all.

Just purchase a small oregano plant from a nursery/greenhouse that sells fresh herbs. Repot or plant it outside. It's super easy to grow.

Once you have good growth, make a tincture or make basic teas with it. Tinctures are potent, convenient, easy to regulate dosage, and are quickly absorbed into the bloodstream.

Making a simple (but very effective) tincture:

  • Use fresh leaves and/or flowers
  • Macerate (chop) the herb
  • Use a ratio 1:2 (100A - grain alcohol)***
  • Fill an entire pint or quart mason jar loosely with the herb
  • Pour in the alcohol to fill the jar and close with the lid
  • Shake
  • Store away from heat and light for 6 weeks
  • Give it a good shake daily.
  • After 6 weeks, strain through several layers of cheesecloth, and squeeze as much liquid from the marc (spent herbs) as possible into a clean, closed mason jar
  • Allow liquid to settle overnight
  • Decant your tincture
  • Label and store in glass dropper bottles away from heat and light

The following are BASIC GUIDELINES ONLY: Infants (10 wks-3 yrs) 2-5 drops diluted or through mama's milk (only GENTLE herbs for babies...such as catnip, chamomile, california poppy) Children (3-5 yrs) 5-15 drops diluted 3-5 x/day Adults 30-60 drops (1-2 dropperfuls) diluted 3-5 x/day

***100 proof (50% alcohol) is recommended for tincturing, but Everclear or Vodka are also fine to use.

I am on an oregano based protocol that works very well against fungus infections (exacerbated by antibiotics I'm sure). Big pharma can pack their shit up as far as I'm concerned. So sick of these dinosaurs.

We don't know it. The information we need is on the internet, but at least as far as this thread goes, no one's interested in asking the necessary questions to find out. What we have is a poorly designed experiment, major lack of appropriate controls, major confounders, and conclusions that reflect a failure to recognize the flaws of the experimental design.

What I will say is this, if you're sick and have an infection, go to the doctor and take what s/he gives you. Ask as many questions as you need to feel confident the doctor knows what s/he is talking about, but don't try and self-treat with essential oils of anything. Infections can progress rapidly and if they do, you need something that is guaranteed to work. If you want to play around with it because you saw a 5th grader's science fair project on TikTok and you trust the reaction video more than a licensed professional, fine, try it for a couple of days. If it doesn't get better, if it gets bigger, if you start seeing streaks, major pain, swelling, pus, etc, go to a proper doctor and get real medicine.

Downvote away.

I agree. I had epididimitis so I rushed to my doctor because it can get nasty if your bollocks swell! He wanted to prescribe Cyproxin but it fucks up tendons so I told him politely "no way". So he prescribed Ceftoral instead and that worked just fine. (He told me it wouldn't.)

I'd love to know if there's a natural cure because I've had this three years in a row. But I don't fancy rubbing oregano oil on my orchis.

I also need a cure for tendonitis or "trigger finger" to reduce the inflammation. There must surely be an alternative to surgery.

This is not the secret weapon it’s purporting. What type of bacteria were used? Amoxicillin doesn’t work on all types of bacteria that’s why we have gram negative and gram positive antibiotics. Bleach also kills bacteria and does oregano oil as do high concentrations of many things caustic. It’s a nest high school experiment and I would not send this into a journal for peer review

Yes, I am sure this is true. When my mother was living with me after a totally disabling stroke, she developed a fierce yeast infection that made her whole back and back side RED. I took some tablets of oil of oregano and melted them and applied this to the fiery red infection. One day later: clear, nice skin. Gone!!!!!! This is what an be done with nutrients that are not poison medicine.
