Kind of funny how we think we might not be giving out real ID and then a site log in will use two factor authentication that goes to your cell phone where they can tell on what side of the bed you are lying in which room.
NOTE: ID verification will be optional. It will be an additional way for verified (Premium) users to prove their identity, the same process Twitter 1.0 had for many years.
Seeing many users assuming this will be mandatory for all accounts when it won't be.
Yea, I would suspect as much. I created a new account soon after Elon bought Twitter just to get a feel on the alleged "free speech" stance. Had some fun shit posting, but I never became part of the "Elon-is-our-saviour" camp. I don't like his neural link work, much less his EV Tesla company, much less Starlink, etc. Just suspicious from the get-go and I wouldn't be surprised if Twitter/X isn't actually a honeypot for gleaning the I.D.s of conservative accounts. But ever since the WEF initiate Yaccarino was named CEO, I've noticed some disturbing trends, such as an inundation of liberal propagandists showing up in my "For You" feed. I had no idea there were even so many. It was like a Media Matters army. That's when I decided to close my account -- about a week or so prior to the most recent announcement. Regardless, I wasn't ever going to pay $8 a month to be part of the Twitter world and I've not once been tempted to peek at my account. I can find out what I need to know elsewhere.
Free speech can only be truly free if it is anonymous. The moment it isn't you have to start weighing whether what you are going to say is worth the price you will pay for saying it. And at that point you're probably safer as an anonymous criminal than a known thought criminal.
Not going to give them my real ID just like Instagram wanted it to verify my age. Screw that! Beside, twatter account frozen a long time ago for supporting Trump and never reinstated so I just lurk occassionally but mostly it's too toxic for my taste.
I was actually considering joining, but now it's a no go.
Also, we used to be able to read comments by doing Nitter.net in the URL instead of Twitter.com. It's not working for me anymore. Anyone else having this issue?
Everyone is. I don't know what X did but the nitter software can't scrape it anymore. Not just nitter.net but any nitter site running the nitter software. I brought up one of their docker containers and it still didn't work.
Just look to China for their model. If X becomes the everything app to hold vax status and carbon footprint and social credit score then we’re as trapped as the Chinese.
I’ve always heard that was the end goal. He wants it to be the “everything app”, our answer to China’s WeChat and South Korea’s Kakao. First heard that from Adam Curry on the No Agenda show.
I agree with the general sentiment of "Fuck no", but playing devil's advocate I think this might be a move to stop all the bot farms that plague the internet fighting to sway the general concensus. That would be cool.
I'm on the fence about digital ID. I can see both the pros and cons and ways to exploit/control. I feel like our phones are already our digital IDs. Can't really function in modern society without your phone and the internet.
It's not mandatory, to have an account, at least that's what I gathered from what I've read. This is for the premium service. I have a permanent suspension but use the account now to read tweets and replies. I'm not interested in another account.
Do users need to submit a blood sample to be kept on file with that pic? Or does that come in the next phase? You know, the one between the photo ID and the final solution, I mean final phase, where you'll need a chip implanted in order to be an active member of X? Asking for a friend.
"The company Elon has chosen for ID verification is AU10TIX, a company based in Israel and is owned by a company based in Turkey-Azerbaijan. Why would anyone from the US want our most trusted personal data controlled by either one of those countries?"
u/OffGridGuy gets it so I'll use his post to answer your question.

During the whole "maga doesn't wear a mask" phenomenon, I asked why those advocating that viewpoint didn't use their real name here but no one answered. It's very ironic how certain people on an anonymous board are so eager to give up other people's privacy rights

Almost appears as if Musk is trying to kill ‘Twitter’ ? And he’s clearly done a 180’ regarding weather he’s a White Hat or a Black Hat…. Disinformation is necessary, something doesn’t smell right …
So many reasons, such as any employer/HR having access to your twit/X posts, IRS agent, LEO, ex girlfriend, etc. I've been on Twit since 2010 and said things that now I would never think to post... but either way, was anonymous... or so I thought?
32 yrs old, never had a twatter & never plan on it.
if Musk & "X" have their way, then bye-bye to being "anon". perhaps it may already be that way, but im not directly playing into their plans on purpose or making it effortless for them, by giving them my ID.
I'll tell you what's wrong with your statement. 1) Not all places require an ID to vote - most do not. 2) Even if ID required to vote, the actual vote cast is done with anonymity. PS - I did not downdoot your comment - you seem like a new anon so I'll try to edumacate you instead.
I think it's all about election integrity.. Just like.how we prefer to vote in person (show ID)... now we can make sure there is no manipulation by fake bots concerning people running and politics in general.. ? maybe. ?
I got distracted and didn't put my own thoughts, looks to me like Musk is going forward with trying to make X into a WeChat style app in stages. First it will be for the premium Twitter account but if it becomes what he has stated himself he wants it to become, you will need a verified account (which will just be an account as there will be no unverified users) on X to do pretty much anything in society
What's Twitter? JK, I think the "X" rebrand is stoopid - I'm having a hard time trusting Musk but willing to see how/if he fits in with the plan. I've never been on twitter/X and this new policy is one more reason NOT to consider joining.
I'm just waiting on the internet bill of rights. Truthfully. But my second take is Q saying in post #4509 one of the reasons I haven't left yet. We shall see 👀
I don't trust Elon and I surely don't trust his WEF hire. Just recently deactivated my account. After 30 days, my account will be deleted.
Im the same way.
I still have an account, but no way i'm going to give my real ID.
Kind of funny how we think we might not be giving out real ID and then a site log in will use two factor authentication that goes to your cell phone where they can tell on what side of the bed you are lying in which room.
Chilling facts.
I'm not using cell phone 2fa either :)
I deleted mine last Wednesday. Nuff of this BS
https://twitter.com/xDaily/status/1691867855317500000
???
That's how it starts. Like how vaxxes were optional and then once enough people went along/they got everyone willing, the stick came out
You are right!
Regarding the jab, it was always a choice, regardless of any kind of "stick" aimed at individuals.
I deactivated my account and logged out on all my devices and removed the app. My account is still not deleted after 3 months. So don't bet on it.

Unbelieveable that anon users on THIS board would downdoot this comment - proof we're infiltrated with fedbois?
If you think that you have to be anonymous to say it, then you might have only the illusion of free speech.
Bye bye, birdie.

Yeah. Twitter/X is basically dead to me now.
I can't see it and I'm not joining. It may as well not exist.
I can just add it to the end of the long list of orgs that just aren't a part of my life - ABC/CBS/NBC/NPR/X....
Everyone is. I don't know what X did but the nitter software can't scrape it anymore. Not just nitter.net but any nitter site running the nitter software. I brought up one of their docker containers and it still didn't work.
Didn't Twitter block the use of API or changed that somehow?
yeah but it worked for a little while afterward.

Same as before. I would never join. Providing your picture on the Internet is a privacy killer.
If I have to provide anything in the form of a picture, it's going to be Homer Simpson in his car with everything but the kitchen sink.
Nope. Not happening.
I agree with the general sentiment of "Fuck no", but playing devil's advocate I think this might be a move to stop all the bot farms that plague the internet fighting to sway the general concensus. That would be cool.
That line of logic is how they will sell digital ID to us now that they've set the precedent in normies minds with ChatGPT

Kek my ass off. Totally.
Well I was waiting for the SS#-eye-scan-face-scan-blood-test-finger-print-hair & urine-sample-1st-born-giving-test system. Kek!
If he implements this, he can literally take one of his tesla batteries and go fuck himself
shocking... lol
from the comments:
"The company Elon has chosen for ID verification is AU10TIX, a company based in Israel and is owned by a company based in Turkey-Azerbaijan. Why would anyone from the US want our most trusted personal data controlled by either one of those countries?"
👀
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AU10TIX
guess it would get rid of trolls...... If you believe in what you say there, why hide?
That sounds just like "if you have nothing to hide you have nothing to worry about" or "talk to the police - they are there to help".
Eggzackly
u/OffGridGuy gets it so I'll use his post to answer your question.
Best comment so far imho

You double posted - I updooted both anyway.

Do you only have to turn it over if you're a premium member??
It’s only for the premium members.
I called it first...I will be in the process of getting fake id's for anons lolz. Just kidding FEDS 😂 I don't need to go to the hole.
I will never consent to this Real ID BS.
I just un-subbed to the twitter blue thing. I'll keep my account because Q told us to never retreat from the battlefield. But I will not pay a cent.
Glad I never signed up

Twitter is CIA.
Always was, and still is.
I’m deactivating my account now.
I'm not uploading my id to them

Federal Law Requires USA citizen with passport or state Id to be allowed to vote . What is wrong with this

Don't give your biometrics to any group that has no plans to protect it.
no way X or twitter whatever is going to stay the same before the election.
the WEF would never allow a free twitter to expose the frauds.

I can’t even create an account on there with email. I get suck at the security challenge and it either doesnt load or says failed to load.

Twitter sucks. They don't need or want my pic
