I am thrilled that the maniacs here in Colorado got slapped down... Now all we need is NO machines with Windows 11 in their guts..

I'm thrilled as well, but the safest is NO machines. Period.

After President Trump won in 2016, my cro-magnon lefty co-worker said we should all just vote online. I nearly dropped my lunch tray just as the words left his mostly empty skull.

I immediately told him we would never have a free and fair election again. I also quoted Joseph Stalin —

Those who vote decide nothing. Those who count the vote decide everything.

Indeed, paper, pen, booth, ballot box, id, and public counting, is a very easy and low tech solution to ensuring free and fair elections. There can always be some local cheating, but never at a larger scale.

Stalins quote is also why I included public counting.

In my country we have all of the above.

On a side note, I have one of the Broward cty punch machines from with some Bush vs Gore ballots.

The sad thing about it, looking back, is that we actually thought there was a difference between Bush and Gore, when now we know they both worked for the same evil maters.

They could install the most hardened OS on Earth on those machines and I wouldn't want them used for the election.

▲ 2 ▼
– OffGridGuy 2 points 2 years ago +2 / -0

I would, if you let me bring a publicly accessible block chain to it, because that would mean I could audit that my own vote was recorded correctly and at least confirm the counts of every candidate are correct. And yes, I get depending upon implementation details ballots might not be secret anymore.

The CPUs of most ARM and x86 systems have embedded micro-controllers which cant be disabled and have system wide memory access and ring -3 (real root) capabilities.

Which OS you are using is irrelevant.

The fact it was 9-0 means a LOT. It can't be stated how big of a deal this is for the country. This is the Supreme Court, with one voice, telling these communist fools to sit their asses down.

Now, the question must be asked. If Joe Biden actually got 81 million votes because Donald Trump is so unpopular, why do they want him off the ballot so badly?

Did you listen to any of the questioning? Jackson surprised me. She actually engaged in a harder line of questioning than most of the others that pointed out how unconstitutional it would be for individual states to decide elections.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– Wtf_socialismreally 2 points 2 years ago +2 / -0

I mean, every single justice there knew they would be relinquishing power of the federal government which meant it would be difficult for them to install anyone they wanted down the line, for either side.

Turns out, when the guy they cheated against had like 98% of the counties won, that was not a game they wanted to play. Not really.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼
– Buttery 4 points 2 years ago +4 / -0

SCOTUS didn't address the fact that he was adjudicated an insurrectionist though. His defense specifically wanted him cleared of it. So I wouldn't call it a full victory.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– Wtf_socialismreally 1 point 2 years ago +1 / -0

Wasn't really the point of it, he was never actually convicted of any of that -- because he plainly didn't do it -- and so it would actually lend more legitimacy to those claims if they did.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– MuckeyDuck 1 point 2 years ago +1 / -0

Seems evident on its face since he has never been indicted for being an insurrectionist, much less tried and convicted.

If I remember correctly, some of the questioning did hit on the lines of "How can it be legitimate for a state to remove someone for a crime they were never charged with.

I wonder how that lunatic leftist Ecstasy is spinning this.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– JonathanE 1 point 2 years ago +1 / -0

I suppose it makes the question moot as far as the question posed to SCOTUS on this occasion - Do the states have the authority to remove Donald (under any circumstances) = no.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– Buttery 2 points 2 years ago +2 / -0

I suppose that part of the defense could have just been for show.

That being said, the SCOTUS opinion did delve into how the 14th amendment could be used, which is what caused concurrences by ACB and the liberal judges who felt it was out of scope.

The Colorado Secretary of State says she's "disappointed in the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision stripping states of the authority to enforce Section 3 of the 14th Amendment for federal candidates."

No, you never had that authority to begin with.

Okay - so SCOTUS is not saying "Trump should not have been kicked off the ballot."

They're just saying Congress should have kicked him off, not the State of Colorado.

So look for Congress to do this ASAP. Like, probably today since Super Tuesday is tomorrow.

– MAGA_Patriot_1776 16 points 2 years ago +16 / -0

If the "Republican" controlled house participated in that ruse, I can only imagine the ramifications for DC. None of them good.

Keep in mind, the entire J6 show trial was an effort to do just that and they did not even charge Trump with insurrection, let alone convict him of it.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 6 ▼
– AngelCole 6 points 2 years ago +6 / -0

They didn't rule on whether he should be kicked off, just that Colorado has no right to that. That doesn't mean they agree he should be kicked off unless they specifically say that. Just the paragraph shown above doesn't give me that information.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 6 ▼
– GGRockz 6 points 2 years ago +6 / -0

To tell you if they agree or not that Trump should be on the ballot is not the scope of what was before them. They would have no right to comment unless this was in the filing.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court unanimously sides with Donald Trump in Colorado’s effort to disqualify him from the primary ballot.

Terrible day for anyone who hates democracy.

"We conclude that States may disqualify persons holding or attempting to hold state office. But States have no power under the Constitution to enforce Section 3 with respect to federal offices, especially the Presidency,” the Court ruled.

The military marches into the offending states, and removes the lawless democrats from office, just like they did in 1861, the last time the democrats tried an insurrection. And, this time we will outlaw the democrat party- like we should have done back in 1863.

While the 3 liberal justices joined the per curiam opinion, they're mad that the other five justices went on to say only Congress can enforce Section 3 against federal candidates.

They wanted that question kept open which would have opened a Pandora's Box of litigation against Trump and other Administration officials arguing that they were insurrectionists and so their actions can be voided or criminal convictions Trump DOJ officials were seeking should be vacated.

Jeff Clark (former Trump DOJ) says this will be the narrative among the left saying the 3 liberals were right and the conservatives went too far to protect Trump. Of course some on the left deluded themselves into thinking the Supreme Court was going to rule on whether Trump was an insurrectionist and are claiming they punted.

Here's a thread by Jeff Clark discussing this.

Finally some great news! But still I have a sneaking suspicion that the Dems won't care and will remove him anyway in some places, and not even get reprimanded for it. Look at everything Biden has done and is still doing, all against the law and yet he's allowed to get away with it.

When a court acts in a blatantly unconstitutional way, there should be consequences. Tired of tyrants getting away with attempt break the law.

Colorado Judge - I rule Trump cannot appear on ballot. (I know this will be overturned by supreme court, but I'm going to take a shot at it)

Supreme Court - Your decision to keep Trump off ballot was unconstitutional by unanimous decision.

Colorado Judge - Woops! Well I tried.
