Think we're in the middle of it right now.

Think about it, it all lines up. The internet is the new printing press, the woke/marxist cult is the church/aristocracy trying to shut down the proliferation of knowledge among the peasents and hell People are even rereading the classics like they did back then.

Great point. The proliferation of knowledge is the tyrant's greatest enemy, makes it harder to lie to the plebeians and keep them in line.

I haven’t seen those. Tbh I’ve never seen an entire episode, only analyses of a few done by others. Could be that they’re part of predictive programming and monarch - not sure.

This is why older movies/shows are much better to watch, if you want to watch anything at all. Other than that I'd say read books from way back as well.

Reminds me of a story from when I was younger doing door-to-door sales (horrible job, never made so much money). One day an old couple opens the door, give the pitch and realize they aren't interested, so I start talking to them.

Guy tells me about his time in WW2, and how they wrote a couple books (and shows me the pictures in the book to highlight his presence). Tells a story about taking out a german airport. They were going from plane to plane planting C4 (or whatever explosive it was at the time, the story is about 20 years old now). Then, after all the planes were covered and hadn't been spotted, they started getting cocky and planting explosives on the radar tower, sentry towers, and at one point he was in a spot that he planted a bomb ON THE BACKPACK of a security guard. All without being spotted, then escaped and turned back to watch the whole place go up.

Are still good newer books written but you sorta have to look in the science-fiction section as most everything else tends to get formulaic.

Peter F Hamilton(Nights Dawn, Commonwealth and Void(trilogies), David Weber(Honor Harrington saga) and China Mieville(Perdido Street Station) would be a good place to start.

A somewhat older book that most people aren't aware of is Cosmic Banditos by A.C Weisbecker, that book is awesome, and it isn't science fiction....

The Honor Harrington saga would make a set of movies that would have Star Wars beat without breaking a sweat but that won't happen as they are decidedly right wing and that combined with a very strong female lead that is still actually female would make their heads explode anyway....

The Hamilton books would also do this if made into movies but they are also too sensible in their attitudes and narrative and would only be good if the complexity and nuance is kept and not mangled by way of Hollywood simplification.

Hell, they even managed to mangle Heinlein's Starship Troopers(which together with Tunnel In The Sky is his simplest books) and the 'Foundation' series is an utter woke mess trying to sell itself by namedropping the title and Asimov(put a spool of wire over his grave and the fillings in his teeth would probably induce a current in it because of the rate at which he's spinning in his grave over it...

Most old Scifi isn't really watchable unfortunately, at least for me. Thank god The Expanse hasn't been cancelled yet, and the creators have a long term plan for it. It's one of the last shows on TV that hasn't been infested and ruined by forced wokeness.

– valley-lily 2 points 4 years ago +2 / -0

I agree with that, old sci-fi doesn't hold up but sometimes it's fun to watch for the cheesy-ness of it. This is why I watch movies or shows that are based in the past, like Little House on the Prairie. It's not very accurate to the books they're based on, but it's still a wholesome show regardless.

That's what is so sad about the situation. The production of scifi from the 80s just doesn't hold up to time, even if it's some of the most legendary ever made. I personally like hard science fiction which is believable, so the less realistic, the less watchable it becomes for me.

Seeing an old show for the first time is also very different to rewatching shows that you originally saw decades ago. I've tried starting a few shows that I never got into when I was young, but just couldn't do it. There are shows from the 90s that I'll definitely rewatch in future though.

If he's talking about sci-fi from the 50s, 60s, or early 70s, yeah then I agree that they don't hold up great, but the sci-fi from after that has been awesome, up until CGI came in and made everything look fake again.

Interesting take. I always looked ar the Bajorans as they Jews since the Cardassians were basically Industrial German types even down to their efficiency and culture. I looked at Ferengi as super capitalists basically showing the extremes of crony capitalism.

I look at the changelings as the globalist cabal with their belief that they know best for the galaxy and are willing to do horrific shit in the name of that belief.

You see why the box office, streaming and comic sales are down. Even the normies can percieve this on an instinctual level. The media is attempting to compensate for the absolute lack of creativity and their fear of taking any risks (common in cult/group brainwashing behaviour) with quintupling down with propaganda. The left used to be the "cool" people, then they tried to "shock" people. Now its just so boring and repetitive.

You wanna see how low comic books have fallen?

Check out Image Comics' MAN-EATERS: Chelsea Cain's degrading feminist "fantasy" about girls becoming were-panthers due to parasitic infections;

  • >Terrible feminism allergory
  • >Fails miserably at maintaing a coherent plot
  • >Protagonists are stereotypical liberal woman
  • >Period blood imagery (yes seriously)
  • >Tap water laced with estrogen
  • >Loaded to the brim with fake "Estrocorp" ads marketed to men
  • >Issues 4, 8, and 12 deviate from the main story to focus on worldbuilding in the form of fake magazines
  • >Protagonists get captured and forced into therapy to "cure" werepanther disease
  • >None of the main characters transform into werepanthers at all
  • >Somehow they escape and rescue other infected girls
  • >Retcons werepanthers out of plot altogether
  • >Has a sequel where said women go to witchcraft themed summercamp

We got rid of cable a couple years ago and I have been rewatching some old TV series from the 80s & 90s..... and I gotta tell you, there was a lot of subversive "programming" going on, even back then.

I just roll my eyes, like, here is another "special episode" where the main character is a total racist or anti-gay but has an epiphany during the show and apologizes for being ignorant and everyone lives happily ever after. It is/way so blatant and disgusting.

There is no entertainment... it is all just propaganda meant to shift the Overton Window. To make society accept a little more subversion every week, to sway public opinion... to wreck traditions and families.

Propaganda is perhaps too strong of a word, but all stories, to a degree, are indoctrination. Every story advances the values and agenda of its creator, whether intended or not. Some of those values we don't think about because they're near universal, such as, "helping orphans is good" or "eating babies is bad." Others we don't think about because we share those values. Anything that promotes capitalism and liberty as good pushes an agenda just like woke nonsense (although it's probably better made). We also might not notice because in better made stories, such values aren't so much pushed as they are just assumed to be true.

So yes, all films with any coherent plot either pushed or assumed certain beliefs. We just don't notice either because we shared those beliefs, or it was done so subtly that there was never a chance to notice. Nothingberg has a good point about watching critically: if you want to see it (and not everyone does), it's possible to see the beliefs being pushed by any film. Just ask, "What values are being stated," as well as, "What values are assumed to be true?"

Umm... those movies were war propaganda to get men to willing join the service and sacrifice their lives. Movies are social engineering showing people how to behave... monkey see... monkey do.

Whether or not the film industry has always been a force of evil is debatable. But I'd wager that it has been evil since day one.

Fables always dramatized a lesson. Slaves in Attica were forced to attend the Greek plays... not their entertainment but for their instruct on how to be a good slave.

These takeaways are often below the level of analytical thought.

The idea that anything rose to popularity purely due to its entertainment value and not its social engineering value is the ridiculous take.

Yes, of course there are lots of movies that I like. I'm not saying that you shouldn't watch them, or like them. I'm just saying that by and large, movies are used for social engineering and are not merely entertainment.

Case in point:

https://i.imgur.com/4sVO6fz.jpeg

That is a tweet from one of my favorite producers. He was the showrunner for Spartacus. Turns out he is a total lefty. They are reacting to the Texas abortion ban. They are saying the quiet part out loud and admitting that they use the medium of entertainment to shape popular opinion... in this case... murdering babies.

Are the movies from the 1940s and onwards free from this kind of evil? Joseph McCarthy would disagree with you. He accused Hollywood of making movies that created sympathy for communists. They accused him of being delusionally paranoid.

Considering where we are, I'd say he was right on the money.

I totally concur that there are great movies out there that serve as great entertainment... but that entertainment is often the sugar coating on the poisoned pill.

Lord... ahh. H.G. Wells was the original subversive. He was laying the ground work for the population to accept a scientific dictatorship and eugenics. Any book winning awards today like the Hugos or the Newbury... total propaganda... for example: The Giver.

Anything that would be consumed by the population... that industry gets taken over and is first covertly fed propaganda into the story lines and then overtly fed propaganda. Like what has just happened to the comic book industry.

I am not saying that every single thing is propaganda. But there is a consortium that infiltrates all media and begins injecting it with poison. Sometimes it is glaring and sometimes it is subtle. It has been going on for a long time.

If I could catch the devil and show him to you just to prove to that he exists, I would. But I can only point to his tracks.

Think of the 1902 silent film A Trip to the Moon, which first made us visually watch a rocket shoot from the earth to the moon. Even now with SpaceX they are using the same types of cartoon graphics and imagery.

Another strange example of mass propaganda is the Disney documentary White Wilderness, where they first made the claim that hoards of lemmings will jump to their deaths over cliffs. For some reason, from that one made-up source, people believe that forever and will never doubt it.

Well truthfully, nature documentaries have always been woke since the 70s back when they were hyping the overpopulation bomb.

On a side note, the woke argument is really dumb. You can't kill a planet, you just can't. You'll wipe out the human population long before then. And with humans gone, the planet will recover even if the nuclear fallout has a half-life of 700 million years. That's nothing in planet years. Then the planet will "heal" and all will be good and your stupid "woke" worries would have been all for nothing.

What I learned from old movies from the 30’s—50’s. Men were men and women content to be so. It was hard to come illegally into this country. People who came legally had to have enough money to live on, no gov. assistance. You were quarantined for weeks until given a good health report. Black families were together and children respected their parents. Having sex or children out of wedlock was shameful and hurt a woman’s reputation. A man’s word was his bond. People made deals with a handshake. Movies about the press were about truth and exposing corruption. Kids could play outside all day without fear of harm. Neighbors helped one another and there was a sense of community. That’s only the tip of the iceberg. Modern movies make me sick.

You raise a strong argument. It is very rare for new TV shows, movies, music, or anything from the entertainment industry that doesn't follow the 'woke points' mentioned.

I know there have been many discussions about creating 'wholesome' media content as an alternative to MSM/Hollywood garbage. (Something that had, to an extent, been an aspiration of mine for quite a while)

Clown world has grown so insane now that it is getting harder to focus on 'entertainment' nearly as much as even just a year or so ago.

Thanks, I actually trimmed what I wanted because I didn't want to make it about myself.

My aspiration was to get into game dev, or animation. (I had learned the skill sets to a degree that I have made a few projects, none published because I won't put something that I intend to sell unless it was good enough that I would buy it, and wish the industry held at least that minimum standard, or for games to actually release a completed game with the bugs removed)

When it comes to story telling though, that's where OP rings true. The movie tropes listed are so ingrained that you almost don't even realize that they are included. The two paths away from that I've considered were either to incorporate red-pilled material as 'history' (rather than rebuilding from the end of the world, talk about how nobody could have conceived that the evils would be removed type of thing) or to just dumb things down.

BTW - I'm only an amateur in this area, and while I would like to create these things mainly because my work is quite technical so I find artistic modeling and ventures relaxing.

I work in oil and I can't remember ever seeing a black woman set foot inside the refinery itself. The few of them there are pretty much never leave the office and their PPE just collects dust.

Also, the BRAINLESS repetition, and lack of anything original.

EVERYTHING is a cheap copy of something that was considered great. At the mercy of the Marxists.

This began over 50 years ago, gradually.

I know what you mean I used to watch naked and afraid off and on until I realized how absolutely stupid they were not catching rainwater in the kettle they were given and boiling muddy streamwater.

Another one with a man kissing a woman's ass after being upset she wasn't helping with anything. I'm sorry you're helping the best way you know how blah blah blah.

I thought this would be the least stupid of "reality tv'

Even the Deadliest Catch Bloodlines I loved Phil Harris so I watch it but Discovery really overdid the drama.

I don't know about that.

I like dystopian, post apocalyptic stories.

They're just not making very many good ones

Ever notice how no one questions the dystopian narratives? Like, in John Wick, "They put a contract out on you" never gets questioned. A bunch of sexy derps with piercings and sleeves typing out your contract on classic Corona typewriters. It's just included in the plot because everyone just naturally understands that there's an unaccountable, all-powerful elite behind the scenes everywhere.

Mad Max Fury Road was pretty great

The MRA furor in the news over Fury Road was a redpill that a lot of it was made up and astroturfed. All these claims that Max is just a side character in his own movie make no sense if you watch it and see that Max saves everyone's ass repeatedly and Furiosa, while she has several good moments, would have failed and been captured in the first 30 minutes if not for Max being in the right place at the right time. Even Nuk despite all his screwups accomplishes more than most of the women.

Magic IS science.

Modern secular physics threw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to the high civilization consciousness related tech that was around pre-flood.

Think of it like The Force. There is black and white magic. It is an amoral natural force. It all depends what you do with it.

Clark’s 3 laws:

  1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.

  2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.

  3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

You forgot the most destructive message- trust nobody. They are trying to convince us that our neighbors, friends and family will all stab us in the back eventually. Divide and conquer. This message has been on TV for a long time. Even milder shows like Lost or Community show everyone betraying everybody. Not to mention horrible shows like The Walking Dead and GOT, which normalize unimaginable cruelty.

Keep in mind there's a somewhat subtle layer of nuance to this.

The paradigm I'm talking about could be called post-post-modernism, which means although there is still no ultimate absolute truth and everything is framed in self referential narratives that vie for power and infulence over populations, YET within those non-truthful narratives there are embedded discrete "truth like" notions and sentiments such as beauty and goodness and authenticity. They are validated as benign novelties that still do nothing to connect us to unassailable universals.

So for instance some piece of entertainment may still portray say a morally based and spiritually centered individual in a positive light, and really any character who doesn't unquestioningly accept change for the sake of change, but if you examine these sorts of portrayals closely they're valued really in the limited sense that there is something charming and authentic, sometimes helpful or at least not harmful or consequential to others, about their ultimately delusional mindsets.
