Someone help me out, but I believe I read the reason people lose their sense of taste/smell is because their bodies used up all its zinc fighting off the virus. So take some zinc, and magnesium to help absorb. NAC or querctine as well.

Interesting, I need to check this. I thought it had only paracetamol and too much of it can affect your liver.

Conversely I've noticed too much zinc and mess with your tastes and make your mouth feel funny. I ran into that early in covid when I started taking all the supplements. I was a little heavy on the zinc.

We used an essential oil and got our sense of smell back within weeks, and I'd have to say that mine is better than it was before.

On a side note, my dad (80) lost his smell about 15 years ago. He's an avid coffee drinker. The other day he told me that he'd been using an oil that i had told him restores nerve function 2 or 3 times daily for a couple months, and that he smelled the coffee brewing that morning for the first time.

If you'd like the protocol that we used, let me know.

First I'm sorry for the delay in getting back to you! Here's the scientific study info - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19235739/

Sense of taste & smell recovery - Olfactory Training

You will take one of each of these oils listed below, ONE AT A TIME, and put a few drops on a cotton ball or cotton pad and inhale deeply through your nose 10 times. Do this twice a day for 12 weeks per the pubmed article. While doing so, tell your brain what it smells like (or should smell like.) Lemon: bright, fresh, tart, sour, refreshing, etc Clove: fragrant, rich, round, fall, pie, etc Eucalyptus: menthol, fresh, herbaceous, spa, etc Rose: Valentine’s, flowers, love, comforting, intoxicating, etc In addition - order a copper tongue scraper to help renew your taste buds and kill bacteria 🙌🏻

If you already have a doTerra essential oils account, just log in and order. If you do not have one yet, use my link to order what you need to get back on track! https://doterra.me/WsB31A9j

Keep me posted on your results! Let me know if you have any questions - I'm always happy to help.

You need the ionophores which help increase zinc intracellular levels to a point that it can actually help. We have 10s-100s of micromols of zinc. You need about 200-320 micromols. Look up PMC6628855 and PMC2973827 for more information. Ionophores increase intracellular levels. Without it, it's about as redundant as refilling ink in a typewriter but without any paper.

I take magnesium, zinc, quercetin, turmeric, D3 and K2. I was sick for a very short amount of time and my smel and taste came back much quicker than anyone else. I still know people who don't have smell after a year. That says something about their diets as well...

Someone shared this, I lost my sense of smell but it was likely rhinitis/cold because it happens often. I used hcq and ivermectin plus Benadryl, vicks shower melts, and vitamins and it came back after 4 days and cleared up cough/sinus issues. Might not hurt to try though https://youtu.be/p04A4yocEPU

Could’ve been rhinitis or the flu. Been known for a long time that certain strains of influenza can rob you of your taste and smell too:

Me too! My family always said I had the nose of a bloodhound. It’s weird, but I feel kinda lost without it. It was my one good “sense” as I have bad hearing and bad eyesight. Rationally, I know it’s not the end of the world, but I’d sure like it back!

This reminds me of the 2 hour window within a mushroom or LSD trip where everything is sharper, has more depth, and more vibrancy. Heightened visual acuity.

You're not bossing God around.

You're following his instructions, for starters.

Secondly, you pray for what you want and qualify it with "if it's your will."

The secret of secrets: humility is the soul of true prayer. Until the spirit of the heart is renewed, until it is emptied of all Earthly desires and stands in a habitual hunger and thirst after God, which is the true spirit of prayer, until then, all our prayer will be more or less like lessons given to students. We will mostly say them only because we dare not neglect them. But be not discouraged; take the following advice, and then you may go to church without any danger of mere lip-service or hypocrisy, although there may be a hymn or a prayer whose language is higher than that of your heart. Go to the church as the tax collector went to the temple; stand inwardly, in the spirit of your mind, in that form that he outwardly expressed when he cast down his eyes and could only say, “God be merciful to me, a sinner.” Stand unchangeably, at least in your desire, in this form or state of heart; it will sanctify every petition that comes out of your mouth; and when anything is read or sung or prayed that is more exalted than your heart is, if you make this an occasion of further identifying with the spirit of the tax collector, you will then be helped and highly blessed by those prayers and praises that seem to belong to a heart better than yours.

This, my friend, is the secret of secrets. It will help you to reap where you have not sown and will be a continual source of grace in your soul; for everything that inwardly stirs you or outwardly happens to you becomes good to you if it finds you in this humble state of mind. For nothing is in vain or without profit to the humble soul; it stands always in the state of divine growth, and everything that falls upon it is like dew for Heaven. Close yourself, therefore, in this form of humility; all good is enclosed in it; it is a fresh spring from Heaven that turns the fire of the fallen soul into the meekness of the divine life, and creates that oil out of which the love to God and man gets its flame. Be always clothed in it; let it be as a garment wherewith you are always covered and a shield with which you are girded; breathe nothing but in and from its spirit; see nothing but with its eyes; hear nothing but with its ears. And then, whether you are in the church or out of the church, hearing the praises of God or receiving wrongs from men and the world, all will be edification, and everything will help promote your growth in the life of God.

I will here give you an infallible touchstone that will test all to the truth: retire from the world and all conversation for one month. Neither write, nor read, nor debate anything with yourself; stop all the former workings of your heart and mind, and with all the strength of your heart stand as continually as you can in the following form of prayer to God. Offer it frequently on your knees; but whether sitting, walking, or standing, be always inwardly longing and earnestly praying this one prayer to God: that of his great goodness he would make known to you, and take from your heart every kind and form and degree of pride, whether it be from evil spirits or your own corrupt nature; and that he would awaken in you the deepest depth and truth of that humility which can make you capable of his light and Holy Spirit. Reject every thought but that of waiting and praying in this manner from the bottom of your heart with such truth and earnestness as people in agony pray and be delivered from their torment. In this spirit of prayer, I will venture to affirm that if you had twice as many evil spirits in you as Mary Magdalene had, they would all be cast out of you, and you would be forced with her to weep tears of love at the feet of the holy Jesus.

Andrew Murray from the book "Humility, The Journey Toward Holiness"

Yeah same. Had a fever in Sept 2020 and lost smell. I took the recommended C/D/Zinc supplements and though I haven't been sick since, it took a long time for smell to come back very gradually. Is almost back to normal now, though a few things still do not smell or taste like they used to. Peanut butter is one of these.

Looks like you've got Long Haul Covid-19 Syndrome (LHCS)

This info from the FLCCC Alliance on what protocols to take should help:

A co-worker said that everything has smelled like garbage to him for months, but that vitamin B12 has helped.

Another person I know lost his sense of smell. He took ivermectin, hydroxychloroquine, quercetin, zinc, vitamin C, vitamin D, and magnesium. He also said that he would "huff" his wife's conditioner because it's a familiar smell that he likes. His sense of smell came back rather quickly.

Have you tried washing your nose out? Thats the only thing i can think of that might be useful. Get some betadine, use about a teaspoon of betadine and mix with 16 oz water (tall can of beer). Add salt to take the sting away, maybe 2-3 teaspoons. Then use something to squirt the solution into each nostril. Slowly squirt it into each nostril while tilting your face forward slightly until it starts running down the back of your throat and out your mouth. Then stop and sniff in gently to get everything covered. Then repeat with the other nostril. This should help to sterilize your nose and anything in there that might be stopping you from smelling. It shouldnt burn your nose much if at all. if it does you either dont have the right amount of salt or you have too much betadine. Just add some more water or salt.

This is perfectly safe, wont hurt you. just a nose cleanse.

alternatively you can buy a sinus rinse kit which comes salt packets to appropriately balance the pH of the water so it wont sting and a nice bottle to inject the solution into your nose. just add the betadine.

Let me know if it helps!

If this does not help then I would consider consulting a neurologist.

its possible that the virus damages the nerves which conduct smell sensations to your brain. fortunately these are capable of regrowing when damaged and so you may regain your sense of smell overtime without doing anything.

This says betadine is effective against protozoa including naegleria fowleri.

but yes, if you would like to be extra cautious, you can use distilled water.

Can confirm Ivermectin helped get my sense of smell back to what it was. Had coof a year ago and had a diminished sense of smell ever since. A few days after taking IVM I noticed subtle smells, so it definitely works.

Same for me too, and same time frame. Though, now it’s morphed into everything having a terrible taste and smell. I saw another person say like sewage and I agree. It’s nasty and I am pretty well gagging trying to eat lately. (Which might turn out fine, since I need to lose weight.)

Interested to hear suggestions.

I read about retraining, we used an essential oil protocol and got our sense of smell back within weeks, and I'd have to say that mine is better than it was before.

From what I have seen yes there is, while I never had it as bad as your situation I am hoping I can help you out. Try Alpha-Lipoic Acid supplements. You can get them on Amazon or at vitamins stores like gnc. It helps to improve nerve functions in your nervous system which is related to the loss of taste and smell. It also has a ton of other health benefits as well. Worth a try and if anything it’s still good for you :) good luck friend hope it helps!

Smoke a bong, eat ice cream.

You'll taste something.

Edit: It's a psychosomatic block. The nerve functions associated with taste and smell are being cognitively blocked off by conscious attention. It's like trying to get a name that's on the tip of your tongue but you just can't seem to find it. It's not that you don't know it, but the brain is blocking it off.

Same here. It's not that you can't taste or smell, just that your brain is blocking it off. If you can just shift your assumptions and reset the brain, weather via meditation, exercise, breathwork or something else, it will bring back your smell and taste. But it might go away again if your underlying assumptions are not sorted.

My daughter lost her sense of taste and smell on Christmas 2020 and is still recovering. She said many of her favorite foods tasted rotten for about 11 months but it seems to be getting better very slowly. It's now been 13 months and still not completely recovered her taste but it is still, very slowly, getting back to normal.

I'm sorry for the delay in responding back to you!

First here's the scientific study info - https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/19235739/

I got mine back first, even though I damn near died from the Coof. I still have bad neuropathy in hands, feet and other nerves / brain fog. But I got my smell and taste back from olfactory training with various smells you can buy anywhere. I also chewed ginger, smelled Vick's daily, and tried to eat spicy foods.

From my understanding, this is due to a Zinc deficiency.

When I had the virus, I took the Dr Zelenko protocol, which has a lot of zinc in it.

Also, I'd check out some of the videos Dr. Berg has on this subject. It's very informative.

My mother suffered from a loss of smell for decades (obviously non-COVID related). She was finally able to recover it through a regimen of B vitamins. You could try a B6 and/or B12 to start and see if you make some progress. Sorry to read of your situation. Good luck.

Try taking Benadryl.

The last time I had the complete loss of taste/smell was back in 2000 something (can't remember) but I remember that I couldn't even taste Diet Coke and most of the food. The only thing I could taste was Mountain Dew so I drank that for about 3 months. I hate the taste but at least it was better than tasting NOTHING at all. I was young and naive so I didn't think to just drink water instead.

Anyways, out of the blue, I finally got my sense of taste and smell and I don't know how or from what but it just came back.

The reason why I mentioned Benadryl is because that's what I've been taking for my allergies and for some time now, I wasn't able to smell anything. I can still taste but it doesn't give me the sense that I'm tasting it in full, just "partial". So I started taking Benadryl and finally I'm able to smell and taste stuff than before.

Yesterday I went into the store and looked around, and wow, it was a flux of smells from everywhere -- laundry detergent, rotisserie chicken in the oven at the deli area, cheese and many more, to the point where it was almost giving me an headache.

So I don't know if that will work for you, but if you do decide to start taking Benadryl, keep on it for at least 2 weeks because that's how long it took for me to finally regain my sense of smell fully.

Keep in mind, I don't know if I had the 'Rona. Never got the PCR test for it and don't even know if I was around people who have/had it. I'm feeling fine but it was just that I wanted to take Benadryl due to me forgetting to take Benadryl around the fall time as I usually have allergies so I thought to go ahead and start now. I also knew it was an inhibitor of Covid so...

I take the store brand version of Benadryl because if you buy Bendaryl (the name on the box), it only gives you like 10-20 pills, but the store brand one have like 100-200 in a bottle and is cheaper than the Benadryl boxed version.
